I had a wonderful big room with a bed and even a sofa and a small table. The lady who is in charge of the place was lovely. WiFi worked perfectly and everything was clean. The location is a bit outside of the center, so you get more of a feeling of what life as a local is like. The trains are just 10 minutes, the nearest convenience store maybe 5 minutes walking. I would definitely stay again!

The staff was amazing, kind, and curteous. The location was super close to the station, and not terribly far from too much, but I did get in 20,000 steps a day while I was there. Check in was easy, but be wary, google maps has the wrong address. Someone local showed me the way. Check out was even easier, just handed off my keys and left. Close to many convenience stores and restaurants, I reccomend the ones close to the station. There was a figure shop that sold buildable models. Nice place and good prices. I got an edo castle model for about 10 usd.
Staff got in around 11am every day, so if you need to check out sooner than that, youll have to just wait.

The property is in a good location —-near two metro stations and bus stop, next to a lot of shops (cafe, meat shop, laundromat, bakery and restaurant —-all at the same street). It is clean, quiet and spacious.
But what I like most about it is the host. I sprained my ankle and had to stay for 2 days. She made sure I was ok, even offered to switch my room (from second to lower floor) and even gave me patches to ease the discomfort. And that is something you can never easily find. Thanks Reiko for the hospitality and making my stay in Japan memorable.

The room was great! Traditional japanese style with super comfortable bed. Close to train station and quiet neighbourhood. Host is really nice.
Would be better if the host can speak a bit more English but is no big deal with google translator.

not a too far walk from the train station, felt very homely and safe.

Hostel Hana An is a traditional Japanese house in a quiet neighbourhood not far from central Tokyo, like Shinjuko.
If you like cooking breakfast, you will get a kitchen and fridge, and the toilet is shared. Modern Japanese toilets and showers are lovely. There are convenience stores nearby, and you can borrow their bikes to cycle around the area. Awesome value for money.
The place is self-check-in, which is perfectly fine. However, the host on Booking pushed us to arrive before 10 pm. Our flight was coming late, so we were concerned about enjoying a bit of the city first. Although it's not far from the centre, Tokyo is massive, which means a couple of hours commute both ways. Ultimately, we insisted on checking in after 10 pm, which was fine. Also, I noticed that other people would check in late, so it's normal but not preferred by the host, which could jeopardise your plans. So definitely, ask if you need to check in later.

A short walk from the subway, the room was spacious, and staff friendly (although little English was spoken), nice quiet area.

The price was so good! Everything was kept in clean condition and staff were friendly.
If you happen to have loud neighbors it can be hard to sleep.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, giving recommendations on places to eat and things to do in the area, as well as helping figure out luggage transfer to the next destination. The hostel is close to the station that connects directly to the city center. There are several places to eat and shop within walking distance.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, gave a lovely recommendation to an area nearby.
Lovely room, good location.
Walls are quite thin so you can hear your neighbors very easily, but it's an older building so that can't be helped.

At Hana-An you'll get a room in a super homely feeling house in Kanamachi, a quiet area about 30-40min by metro from central Tokyo. It's such a lovely place if you want a quiet haven to fall back to after your Tokyo shenanigans ^^

It was a great place to cook our own stuff, with great WiFi. Great location surrounded by many convenient places.
A homeless person came into the hostel, used the bathroom and left. Basically the only lock you get is for the room, but the entire hostel is wide open to everyone and everything. Walls are thin, not too much privacy and can be hard to sleep if there are other guests who decide to be a little loud. There’s only one shower you have to share with everyone on the first floor.
