Everything about this property is HEAVEN! It’s super close to the freeway yet nestled in the Forrest of big beautiful trees. Checkin was a breeze, we met Scott, his wife, their dog and the famous Apricot, kitty. We love all of them!!! The cabin and surroundings are beyond beautiful! The pictures don’t do it justice. You have to see it yourself. We will definitely be back and strongly recommend it to you too. We made family memories that will last a lifetime and recharged our souls. Highly highly recommend!!!!

Beautiful and peaceful location. Cabin very well designed and constructed with great view of the forest. Cabin well stocked and lots of special touches to make it feel like home. A wonderful anniversary getaway for us.

We were excited to get away for a winter vacation but didn’t expect it to be so fantastic! The best perks were the owner’s cat and dog, such lovely creatures that we spent a good amount of time with. We were delighted with the property itself-the area was gorgeous and peaceful, the location was close to ski resorts, the size was just right for our family, and the owners were terrific and hospitable. Thank you for letting us enjoy your cozy and beautiful cabin! We will consider coming back in the summer!

Had a great time at the cozy cabin in the woods. Short drive up to the slopes and the cabin had everything we needed (and more). Appreciate how responsive the owners were when we had a question for them.

We had such a wonderful stay here in a snowstorm! Scott and Dena were amazing hosts from helping us anticipate road conditions getting there on a stormy weekend to all of the small touches that made staying there with kids easy and fun! Our kids loved the toys, we loved the fully stocked kitchen and cooking together, the orientation of the cabin out to the woods is just beautiful. We look forward to another visit!

Our family had a wonderful time making memories at this property. The owners were delightful and so fast in responding to our questions and providing useful information we didn't think to ask. The cabin was very clean and fully stocked with all you need including toiletries and kitchen cookware. The owners were so kind to help us start a fire for roasting marshmallows and we enjoyed getting to know them and learning more about the cabin. My boys fell in love with the owner's dog and spent a lot of time playing fetch. They also loved seeing the cat and chickens. There are plenty of toys in the cabin that also kept them entertained. We highly recommend this property and hope to return in the future. It was truly a wonderful place to get away with our family.

This is a great place. My family enjoyed staying 3 nights here. This cabin has everything like someone is living. Easy access to the ski resort and snow parks. Definitely going back when we go the area again!

The cozy cabin was amazing. Quiet and relaxing. Our kids loved exploring the area around the cabin and playing the snow. The dog was so friendly and fun playing fetch with.

Cabin was exactly as described. Scott met us as we drove up. The cabin was warm and cozy and was perfect after a busy Thanksgiving Family Event! It was SO quiet:). We visited Little Bear Tree farm and Nevada City one day. The next day we drove to Empire Mine State Park and toured Grass Valley. From the moment we arrived, everything was just as was described and portrayed on the website. The cabin was spic and span, fully equipped, plenty of privacy, fire pit, BBQ. The owners were exceptionally welcoming and kind. Scott helped set up the fire pit and made sure that the BBQ was ready to go Even though we brought games and activities, there were many more in the cabin which delighted the children. They were happy to sleep in their sleeping bags but the fold out sofa bed was stocked with linens, blankets, and pillows. There were plenty of spices and condiments which made cooking a snap. The cabin itself is a work of art!! Hand built by the owner with lots of attention to detail. The large windows in the main area look out into the forest as well as the wrap around deck. We were advised about the bears and we made sure that no food was left outside. The vegetable garden was spectacular and we were fortunate enough to receive fresh produce - compliments of the owners. The fresh eggs from their chickens was another highlight. There's nothing like a farm fresh egg. All in all, we had a super time. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away and relax. There are plenty of outdoor activities nearby as well - hiking, lakes, community pool. Nevada City and Grass Valley are within a 45 minute drive.

Cute cabin with welcoming host. We enjoyed the cabin as a launch point to Lake Tahoe and surrounding area. The guys loved the train watching opportunities while the girls loved visits with the owners cat, dog and chickens. Thank you for your hospitality!

It was the most amazing experience. The cabin was beautiful and the hosts were gracious and helpful. You don't have to bring anything but your clothes and food that you prefer. Everything you might need is there for you. The birds were there to greet us every morning and the squirrels waited their turn.

We visited this place from Bay Area for long weekend and were surprisingly blown away by the cabin - right from it's well laid design, to cleanliness, to thoughtfulness of the host and many more. Totally enjoyed our stay here and definitely will be visiting this place again.

Relaxing

We loved this cabin! This was the vacation that our family needed. We are a family of 3 and we spent 2 days here and we can't wait to get back. Do you like to hear wind blowing through pine trees? Great! Then you need not look any farther than this cozy cabin. They had everything! If you would like to disconnect, great - easy to do here. The deck faces the forest, it's quiet, there's cornhole, board games, and generally a secluded feel here. If you would like to relax but need to keep track of things - that works too! They have wifi, cell service, and cable (my husband is a business owner and my mother had major surgery while we were here and we kept tabs on everything!). The setup of this cabin is optimal. There are two bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom, that are on opposite ends of the cabin and the kitchen, living, and dining room are shared and in the center of the house. Scott and Dena are helpful and available if need be (you don't need them because they have their bases covered but they are so delightful to chat with) and if they are away you can always consult with Tajia (Tay-ja) and Apricot; resident dog and cat of the premises. Our daughter, Penny, played with them constantly and had the best time. Honestly, our child had been quite ill the 6 weeks prior to this trip and she was finally feeling better. Watching her run, play, gather firewood (sticks), play with animals, chat, color, make chalk creations, and just get dirty (sooo dirty) truly healed our family. This was the respite we needed; from this crazy world, from our busy lives, and you need this too. This is a great place to regroup and heal.

This beautiful custom cabin has a wonderful layout with a fabulous view! It is rare to find a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom rental. Most rentals are too big or too small for a family of four. This was the perfect location with a fantastic kitchen to make all our meals. A generous area to play board games or watch a movie. And enough room for everyone to relax and have space. Thank you so much Scott and Dena…we thoroughly enjoyed our visit!!

Enjoyed a fantastic weekend with the family staying at Scott and Dena’s cozy cabin in the woods. Everything was so welcoming - from the personalized note, welcoming music, fully equipped kitchen, fresh flowers, and fresh eggs from their hens! The cabin was perfect for our family of 5 - comfortable beds, great water pressure, plenty of hot water and good heat for those chilly nights. Beautiful windows facing the majestic woods with morning blue jay visitors at the bird feeders made for enjoyable breakfasts. Couldn’t have asked for a quainter stay!

Property is amazing with all the necessary amenities. Hosts are very courteous. Our kids had a blast with the chickens in the backyard. Nice wooded area to take a walk around. Would love to go back and stay.

We had a great time at this cozy cabin and spent the weekend relaxing and playing with our kids in the snow. It was a lovely cabin and the hosts were great. We were about a 30 min. drive away from the Donner Lake area, so we would drive there to sled and go sight-seeing during the day, then return to the cabin to relax in the evenings. A nice weekend get-away.

We really enjoyed our stay at Scott and Dena's cabin. It was so cozy and well-stocked, and we appreciated the fresh eggs from the chickens! We also loved playing with the pets. Great location too- there was some snow on the ground when we got there, and only had to drive about 15 miles up the road for sledding.

We were worried we weren’t going to be able to go up due to the heavy snow that had just fallen, but luckily we were able to! We had such a fun time enjoying the cabin, beautiful view, and excellent hospitality from Scott and Dena, very sweet and accommodating couple….and their dog Tej and Kitty Apricot who made us feel like family 🥰 we were sad our trip was over! Definitely look forward to going up again!

The cabin was perfect, comfy, and had a well stocked kitchen. It was nicely decorated for the holiday. Fresh eggs from the hens was really appreciated. I prayed for snow...it snowed Christmas all day and night, and next day, and the next day! Record breaking snow fall. So, we had nice walks wearing snow boots, warm coats, and gloves to play in the snow. Our hosts were so very thoughtful about our stay; helping my sister get her car out of snow, keeping us informed about conditions, had a generator for power outage (very much appreciated), the girls shoveling snow for us, and Scott making sure the heat was working! They were caring and gracious extending our stay until roads were clear for travel at no additional charge! We highly recommend staying here through rain, snow or sunshine. My parents and I rented this rustic cabin for my son’s wedding and it was the perfect place to stay while visiting the area. The owners go above and beyond to make your stay an enjoyable one. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

The cabin was the perfect getaway for the weekend. Dena and Scott are amazing hosts. We woke up each morning to watch the blue birds from the balcony and enjoy the sun coming up amongst the redwoods. We had a little one in our group (2 years old) and we were pleasantly surprised at all the little touches in the cabin to make it child friendly (toys, pack and play, baby shampoo…). A great location too - highly recommended!!
