Micheal from reception is the best. The hotel looks fine and clean. However, I found above average sized spider, which is not usual.

The spider in the room, the fire alarm went on a few times, and the children got very scared and psychologically affected.

The room was clean, comfortable and spacious and had everything I needed for a short stay. The aircon worked very well especially as the weather was so changeable.

Lack of wide shelf space to place items such as laptops, phones etc. The room door key card didn't work, so had to go back to reception to request a new one.

Staff were all really friendly & helpful.

Not something I didn’t like, but more coffee options would be nice rather than solely the coffee machine at breakfast time (I am dairy free).

Review for the Holiday Inn Express hotel Wigan from the 14/2/23 to 17/2/23. We arrived early and were lucky to get a room that was ready. We got a connecting family room but could only get 23c out of the heater in the room, so room was always cool as heater came on and off. Only four choices of fried breakfast (fried eggs were not on the menu) there were scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, beans, toast and jam, orange juice, coffee, tea and the fried food was just warm. I spoke to a member of staff and asked for a fried egg at breakfast she stated management said they don’t do fried eggs. Better choices of cereals and fruits available oranges, apples and bananas. Our room carpet and seating was full of bad stains so I spoke to the receptionist regarding this. The conversation that followed sounded like this has been reported before about the carpet and seating. I had seen this same item in another review of the hotel on the website. The room itself was clean and bathroom as well. Only the stained carpets, seating and one day maid service that was missed room let our stay down. All hotel areas felt cold, but staff were friendly and helpful.

A warm and friendly welcome which lasted throughout our stay. Despite only staying 1 night we found the facilities excellent and met our needs and the entire team came across with a genuine interest in making our stay a pleasant experience. Thank you

I can't really think of anything about our stay apart from the tea. Tetley tea is not our choice as it's a bit on the weak side!
