Very comfortable ground floor apartment in a well-maintained property. The view is amazing, and the pool and grounds are very well maintained. As a ground floor unit, you don't have quite the amazing view of the crashing waves, but you have direct access to the pool which makes it better (for me). It's about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants in either direction. The entire area north of Akumal beach is now behind a guardhouse and gate and this probably improves the security and certainly reduces the road noise, though there isn't much in this unit anyway. The owner is super-attentive, and we were very well prepared for our arrival. The apartment itself is well-maintained and updated. AC worked fine and was quiet. We didn't use the TV/cable but it's there for you if you want. Would definitely rent here again. Note: This is a very quiet (adults-mostly) complex. Would not recommend this for a family with younger kids. One of the full-time residents upstairs likes to complain about any noise at all.

This was our second time staying at mi casa del mar (different unit this time) and we had the same great experience. The unit was clean, and welcoming. Great communication and location as well.

We loved our stay at Hans place! It felt like walking into Paradise. This is a very lovingly taken care of second home with all the amenities you need to enjoy the pool and the beach. Hans was a wonderful communicator and an absolute pleasure to meet, if you’re lucky enough to find dates that work, don’t hesitate and book yourself a place where you will form wonderful memories like I did with my family.

We were 2 adults, 2 teens and 2 children. Everybody loved it, we had everything we needed. The location is amazing. We walked everywhere even to Akumal city, and we had a great time. Everything is even more beautiful than on the pictures!!!

Located between two popular beaches that are walking distance. Property was exactly as described. Communication with owners was clear and lots of detailed information on stay, places to eat, and things to do.

Had a wonderful trip with the family at Mi Casa del Mar. Property opens up to the pool which we really enjoy. Patio area was covered which helped get out of the sun and enjoy coffee in the morning. Place was large for a rental. Enjoyed all the movies they had at night. Would stay again

We loved staying at Mi Casa Del Mar! We couldn’t think of a better place to stay in Akumal with the wonderful condo, the magical turtle pool, the kind people helping here, and where it is! Hans and his wife own and manage the condo and were so good with their responses to all our questions and sent lots of useful information, making anticipation half the experience! The condo itself was perfect for our needs, as we were two couples and each had good large bedrooms with king or queen beds, one ensuite and the other a full bathroom close by. The kitchen had all that was needed for fixing in-condo meals, there’s a good dining table, but we usually ended up out on the porch on the ground floor, with the wonderful swimming pool right in front of us and the ocean and waves beyond. Two sandy bays are found within walking distance south and north, a great lagoon with tropical fish a little farther north, and amazing cenotes a short taxi or car ride away. We very highly recommend Mi Casa del Mar and hope to return again.

We loved this condo, location, and friendly host. The condo definitely feels like a home not a hotel room. Lots of personal touches and decor. Loved the batik turtle about the couch. Location is walkable to many restaurants and a couple of small markets. Akumal is a nice town with a laid-back vibe. We will be back.

The special part are the people. Pool was good. Iguana’s are aggressive.

The view from the patio of this ground floor condo, of the lovely pool and the sea beyond it, is worth the price by itself. Our small granddaughters spent hours and hours swimming, and we could watch them from the comfortable patio. Also liked that we could easily walk either to kid friendly La Buena Vida beach bar, or to the restaurants, grocery store, and ATM in the village, or across the overpass to the pueblo. Most important to visitors, the bedroom air conditioners and the plumbing worked great, no problem with Wi-Fi.

We very much enjoyed this property and would stay here again. The hosts are terrific as is the staff on site. Akumal in June is hot and sticky so we loved the pool and the ocean breeze from the sea. It was clean, quiet, and the air con in the bedrooms kept us cool at night. Charming little place, well equipped, great cleaning service daily, and was very peaceful. Short walk to town, many restaurants etc.

Many places are just for rent, they remind me of a hotel. In this case, the owners are using this unit, so we felt like we were visiting our friends, the unit is nicely decorated in the local style. There's a small library of books guides and CDs and all kinds of snorkeling equipment, you would not feel bored, good internet connection. Hans provided us with a lot of information about local landmarks and tips on how to organize our stay. The unit is on the first floor which gives you easy access to the pool and the courtyard, so it felt like we were renting a house not just a unit. The staff is very friendly, but you would be better off if you speak some Spanish. We enjoyed very much our stay and we found the place just as described. PS. Make sure you wake up early to catch a stunning sunrise.

We loved the staff (Gloria) was out standing. We had a great time by the pool, playing cards on the deck and the condo was set up perfectly. The local restaurants are wonderful. 10/10

I have been coming to Akumal off and on since 2007, and this is my first time staying at Mi Casa del Mar ... it will not be my last! Hans was incredibly responsive and proactive - we had everything we needed to be comfortable in the condo. It was lovely to be able to walk right out the door to the pool, but have shade right on our front patio. A couple of our days were incredibly windy, and with this location, it was so much fun to watch the crashing surf on the rocks in front. You are walking distance to the main beach, and the restaurants in town. We highly recommend popping over to the pueblo (bikes or golf cart ideal if you don't have a car...but you could walk it...) and having a few meals over there. Prices are a little more reasonable, and it's neat to explore the pueblo. Also...the new Jungle cafe down the akumal road (past the midway store) is AMAZING! Music is super chill, coffee is really good, and everything on the menu that we tried was delish!! Enjoy your stay - you won't regret staying at Mi Casa del Mar! Thank you Hans for accomodating us :) hopefully one day our paths will cross either in Akumal or Toronto!

We booked Hans and Joan's incredible condo for the final 4 nights of our 2 week vacation, and wish we'd planned on staying longer, in fact, I could easily see staying here a full 2 weeks or longer on a future trip! A true 5 - star stay for our family of 4! What to say that other reviewers haven't already? Mi Casa is located in a super safe, (semi?) gated community, very helpful and friendly staff to meet you, someone always seems to be around keeping an eye on things. The condo is very well appointed, has everything we needed for cooking, comfy couches and chairs, kitchen peninsula for hanging out, really comfortable king beds, bathrooms where everything worked, great hot water in the showers, fans and air conditioning, snorkel gear, boogie boards, books, games and quite the movie collection. The pool was a major attraction when we booked, and it turned out to be big enough for play and exercise. We used the pool every day in the mornings and afternoons / evenings by us all. Other visitors and owners staying at Mi Casa were friendly and accommodating, but the complex is small enough that it never got too busy around the pool. Loved the location, a short walk south to Akumal Bay beach, an adventurous scramble over the rocks to Half moon bay beach, a short stroll to Akumal square, a nice walk into the Pueblo in the evening to admire the local artwork and try local cuisine, and not too far to walk to the Laguna for great snorkelling. We had a car, and Akumal is well situated to visit a few cenotes (we highly recommend Cenote Azul and Eden) and surrounding attractions. It really helped that Hans and Joan provided a lot of really good info to get us started, and were really responsive with additional details once on site. I highly recommend this condo. Martin

Absolutely loved staying at Mi Casa Del Mar and cannot recommend it enough. Lovely place that was stocked with everything we needed and more. Hans was a gracious host who provides incredible information and went out of his way to help with a personal issue we were having. The staff was wonderful and Gloria the housekeeper goes so far beyond what I would expect. The location is great, just between Akumal beach and Half Moon bay making much of both completely walkable. My only regret was not booking longer.

Hans’ place is beautiful. The beauty of the shared open spaces cannot be captured in a photo. Reminded me of a Villa I stayed in a few years back further south. Completely gorgeous and Hans is probably the nicest and most helpful host I have ever experienced. Kids loved playing on the rocky tide pool area and the walk to the beach was short and easy. I’m normally someone that wants to be directly on the sandy beach, but honestly, the view and serenity of this place is so gorgeous I wouldn’t trade it for anything, and the beach was so close, it was like the best of both worlds. Little slice of heaven and cannot recommend more highly.

Great place with all the amenities. The building and pool area are really clean and well-maintained. Hans is accessible and full of information. We wish had stayed longer. No actual beach out front but main public beach is a five minute walk. We loved Buena Vida restaurant for dinner and Turtle Bay café for breakfast / bakery treats.

My family had a great 2 nights in Hans’ condo. The location is stunning and the grounds are impeccably kept. We appreciated having tips on where to eat and ate both nights as La Buena Vida and both mornings at Turtle Bay Cafe for simplicity. The lime soup at Buena Vida is fantastic. Lovely place to stay in Akumal. Only a frew minutes walk from the beach and town where you can swim with turtles, go scuba diving or just enjoy and relax. The flat was perfect for us with everything we needed for a great family stay: spotless clean, fully fitted kitchen, terrace, towels, and best of all, what our son called "the best pool in Akumal" only a few meters from your door. On top of that, there are snorkels, masks, fins and life-jackets in the flat for you to borrow and enjoy. The condo is nice, clean and quiet with super friendly staff ready to help in whatever you need. And we couldn't ask for more regarding communications with the host. Hans gave us lots of clear and useful information about Akumal and Riviera Maya and answered our queries in record time. We'd love to go back to Akumal and we will definitely try to stay at Mi Casa del Mar again!

Many activities to be had just within walking distance as well as great choices in restaurants La Buena Vida was our favorite.

Hans was so helpful when we wanted to rebook. Friendly with LOADS of information about the area. We liked it so much we came back a week later. Seaweed not bad at this location, but you can't swim from the property. Had everything you need!

Nice quiet place to retreat from the "busy" spots in Akumal. Very relaxing and well equipped for short of long stays.

We loved this property. It was right on the ocean. Not sandy beach in front, rather it is rocky so difficult to enter ocean/dangerous, but short walk to beaches so this was fine with us. Very pretty area. the front windows and front sliding door have an incredible view of the ocean. Loved the hammock and patio area. Kids had fun too. We only stayed a couple nights but it was really relaxing, very very quiet! seems like most of the condos there are residents that value a peaceful place to relax, so not a lot of competition for pool and no loud music playing on patios. pool was very nice. short walk to restaraunts, maybe 5 minutes or so either way. Owners communicate very well, and give you a LOT of information! Would recommend to others and would stay here again.

Staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. Building and decor were beautiful. The beach below the apartment was rocky and not suitable for swimming., but the lagoon Yal Ku with multitudinous tropical fish is less than a two mile walk and Akumal beach with turtle tours is less than one mile walk. Seems to be very clean and safe. Has plenty of cooking equipment and good restaurants close by.

My family and I had a wonderful time staying at Mi Casa del Mar. The condo was spotless, the view was gorgeous, the staff was friendly and helpful, and communication with Hans was super speedy. We appreciated being able to walk to and from the beach. We also super appreciated the flexibility with check out. Thanks Hans!

The view of the ocean as you walk in the condo is amazing! Everything was exactly as described, but the pool was even nicer than the pictures show. Communication with Hans before and during our trip was quick and clear. The condo is located walking distance to the beach, several restaurants and a convenience store. But I would still recommend a rental car to explore more of the area, including Akumal Pueblo for some authentic and cheap food. A/C is only in the bedrooms but with the fans it never got too hot in the living area. Sleeping was nice and cool. We didn’t want to leave after a week and we hope to return again!
