The position is amazing, many many animals just around the pousada.

Frankly I don't understand how can this ranch be opened to tourism. The place is in the middle of nowhere, you pay a fortune just for sleeping and eating three times a day the same things and as you try to move, everything looks like a big swindle (especially the tours). The transfer should have been included from/to the airport as written in our Booking reservation, but we had to pay both times and it was not told until we arrived at our destination. The guide Fernando is annoying and useless, harassing you around the whole day for going all the time to the same places in different ways: he puts no effort in explaining to you the environment, just makes stupid jokes and expects you to laugh. I am sure he's one of this false guides the guidebooks warn you about. He insisted on taking us to a "safari" while it was heavy raing knowing we wouldn't see any animal (the staff didn't warn us either). In the ranch there are thousands of cows, but seems that many of them are dying (they may have a disease) and no one there has the mercy to put an end to their suffering: they just leave the dying cows to the vultures, and normally let you pass in front of them on horseriding, putting you in danger (the horses are scared and try to escape) and letting you see these poor animals with their eyes eaten by the vultures. The guide Fernando even offered us a knife, just in case we were interested in the amazing experience of killing a cow as an act of mercy. I am sorry to write these things like that, looks like I am a review-rat spreading my hate for the world under the protection of a pc screen: the truth is that i never felt so tricked in my life while travelling, and I bet there are dozens of pousadas much more worth to enjoy than this one. They made me hate the Pantanal, which is a wonderful place to stay in. But not at Posada Sao Joao.
