Everything about the cottage was perfect, but know this rental requires insurance or a refundable damage deposit. This information is not mentioned until you are in the process of securing the date; it should be openly listed as part of fair and transparent pricing practices. I have rented beach houses for 15 people that did not require such a steep damage deposit. I paid the damage deposit and expected to be refunded per VRBO's policy. Of course I did not damage the cottage; I have video and photos to prove it, bc of the strangeness of this damage deposit policy. The deposit (more than twice the cost of the rental) was not refunded after two weeks. In a world where my paycheck comes in at the same hour every time, this is inexcusable.

Cute studio ADU with everything you need, nothing you don't. Easy check in and out. Very clean and comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful despite being only 2 blocks from busy South 1st Street, where excellent eats abound. Excellent location--about 20 minutes from almost anywhere I wanted to go during my stay and a reasonable walk to Lady Bird Lake with a view of the fast-growing Austin skyline. Easy communication with host. Definitely recommend and plan to stay here again on my next visit to ATX.

Great location. Cute cottage studio. Would give 5 stars but the bed was so uncomfortable. Very squeaky and mattress needs replaced. No couch.

Wow! This place was bad. We have being in many places for many years and this is one of the worst. We pick this place because the neighborhood is very recommended and it was, very good. But the place…. Let me tell you: The bed was very noisy, the towels smelly, small and not dry, the sponge for the dishes was dirty, the kitchen towels have holes, the place have many dirty rugs. After being in a lot countrys in many other places and arrive here you fell the owners difference. They charge for early checking $20/h For late check out $30/h We never have a deposit fee before and they give the refund 14 days after you leave and We don’t get yet. No lovely details that other owners have, is just the place. You don’t feel the owners love like most of the others places.

I needed a couple of days of solitude to recharge and work on 2024 goals and this location was just what I was looking for! I loved being able to walk to my favorite restaurant too! I will be back.

Great Location! We could walk to SoCo and downtown. The weather was nice for December. The property was good but could have used hotter water. First timer for a verbo. Would use again.

This is a fantastic cottage in a great location, I ran out out of time before running out of delicious restaurant options within just a few blocks. Cottage was super clean and well stocked and communication was fast and easy. Have already recommended this spot and would definitely stay again.

This was our first time in Austin and this little home was the perfect space for us! The location was amazing - so easy to walk to restaurants and bars. Very clean and such an easy check in/out process. Hope to come visit again soon!

Great little unit with privacy. Everything exactly as described and owner was a pleasure to deal with on all aspects of the booking and the check-in process. Unit was very tidy and Internet access was fast.

An amazing little getaway! Close enough to downtown yet outside the major portion of the city! Clean, as in immaculate. It was great to cook our own meals as we wanted. Incredibly quiet. Exceptionally well set up. We will return!

We had a wonderful stay at the Johanna Bee. The house was cute and just the perfect size for my husband and myself. It was within walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants. The neighborhood was so cute and quiet, we enjoyed exploring it. The house had all that we needed to be comfortable and have a wonderful time while exploring Austin! It was very clean, inviting, and very cute. Thank you for a great stay!

So many places to walk to. Great place

I took my daughter on a weekend trip to Austin and stayed in the cutest VRBO yet. Awesome location, perfect amenities and amazing setup. The communication with the owner could not have been more perfect. My daughter left several items there by mistakes and Darlene was MORE than helpful with arranging and organize the items to get back home to us. Highly recommended!!!

We came into Austin because we were getting bees in Elgin. We also wanted to eat at one of our favorite restaurants on Lamar. I wanted a place that was within walking distance and I found the PERFECT place! Johanna Bee is private, clean, and so well stocked we wished we had been able to book an entire weekend so we could enjoy it in its entirety. When we come back to Austin this will be our first choice in a place to stay. The host deserves 5 stars, two thumbs up, and all the accolades for being so wonderful. Thanks so much!

Had a wonderful stay. From the cleanliness of the cottage to the responsiveness of the owner, I cannot recommend this place enough. Located in a quiet neighborhood, we were able to explore the area by foot with plenty of food trucks and access to South Congress. Easy access to the fun of downtown is a 10 min ride away as well. Cannot recommend this place enough. Will be staying here next time we are in the area!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. First time in Austin. Nice to be a quiet, established historic neighborhood that was walkable to neighborhood eating establishments which were all within 3-4 blocks. We walked to the Bike Rental place and also to congress avenue and felt very safe. Uber rides were short and tooks us everywhere we wanted to go when timing didn't allow for walking. Phoebe's Diner and Bouldin cafe were great for breakfast AND loved the french baker (La Patisserie) around the corner. Polvis (tex Mex) was fantistic as was Super Thai (don't be turned off by the name). Terry Black's BBQ was amazing. Great to be able to warm up our leftovers at the VRBO or mix it with Eggs for breakfast. Very comfortable VRBO. Loved staying here! Thanks for everthing. Very clean and had everything we needed! Thanks for the all the resources provided about things to do and see. Very nice touch!

Great location and comfy stay. Just a few walkable blocks from a variety of great food and definitely more homie than a hotel stay. Really enjoyed the convenience since we didn’t have a car. We were able to work remotely during the day and visit with family and friends in the evening. Great trip overall!

I didn’t get to enjoy Austin as I’d planned, but I hope to stay in this sweet little place again. Great location!

Super cozy alley house is nestled away in a very nice quiet neighborhood, yet close to great restaurants and a short walk to Soco. Very accommodating.

Everything about this property was wonderful! Communication with Darlene was excellent and she checked in during the stay to make sure I was doing ok and had everything I needed. The neighborhood felt very safe and was only a short walk from SOCO. The outdoor space was a little smaller than I thought it would be, but I had some many other outdoor places to go it didn’t really matter. Inside was so clean and welcoming. Thanks Darlene!

Great experience! Easy, clean and tidy. Great for 1-2 people! Easy commute to anywhere. Walkable to Congress which has plenty of attractions, food etc. I'd stay there again!

Highly walkable location, which is super hard to find in Austin! Incredible water pressure in the shower. The layout of the studio makes it feel very spacious! I also appreciated having a full kitchen and Keurig machine. Great VRBO!
