What a beautiful home! It exceeded our expectations in every way. It was beautiful, quiet, and yet close to Breckenridge. My wife and I look forward to returning. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful piece of your family history with all of us. Blessings, Jim & Peggy

This cabin is amazing! The Kitchen was fabulous and had everything you needed . The beds were comfortable the lines were soft and high quality!!! The fireplace and hot tub made the whole place extra special. WE will definitely be renting again on our return to Breckenridge…!!

The house and location was great. But when we arrived at 4 pm. It was still being cleaned. The draws in the dresser just fall out. Not usable. KItchen has missing floor boards covered by a dirty rug. Has a few throw blankets but were gross. One of the bed in the loft had a broken beam. And the absolute worst was the fireplace. Which is needed to warm the house. Really crappy fireplace. Instructions were read and reread and we could never get the wood to burn. Very very disappointed. No point in having a fireplace. Oh snd even trying to wash dishes in sink almost impossible with the drizzle that comes out. Refrigerator draws all. Broken Draws and no shelf racks on the door.
4.8
Very nice! Great fireplace and fire pit. Hot tube wonderful. Had two young moose visit us in the yard one morning! Trees were beautiful! Online pics did not do it justice.
4.8
Property was just as described. Kitchen was roomy and adequately supplied. Kids had a great time exploring the back yard area and hot tub was very relaxing.
4.8
The location was great deep in the woods high up a mountainside. Just be careful in the winter when it snows. You'd better have a four-wheel drive. Once there, you have a warm log cabin with a super fireplace, floor heating, and an outdoor hottube that is just thing after skiing.
4.8
Great for intended purpose! Quiet yet close to Breckinridge! Highlight: 2 moose sightings traversing back of property! Amazing!

After much thought, my husband and I would give this a 3 out of 5. It was not a good foot for our family and we would discourage those with kids under age 3 or those uncomfortable starting and maintaining a wood-burning fire from renting it.
The biggest concern we had was the heating. It was in the single digits while we were there and the main level would not get above ~62 during the morning and evening (sometimes lower). It was brutal for our infant who was crawling/walking on the floor (and us as well...we stayed in our ski jackets/pants). When we asked management if the heater was broken, we were then told to maintain heat in the house during these temperatures, we must light a fire. With a small child, this is not safe, and had we known this we would have stayed elsewhere. There was a radiator that we could use, but again, safety concern.
The house also said it was "stocked for full capacity." However, there were only 5 fire starters (which we quickly used after the baby went to sleep in an attempt to warm up, but definitely wouldn't last for all day & night for a full week) and 2 shampoo and conditioner bottles (the super small ones from a hotel). So we rationed heat even more and dealt with helmet hair.
We brought our 4W drive car with us and the snow was plowed on our street one morning, but it created a snow drift at the driveway entrance which our car got stuck on and we spent 30 minutes digging out of it.
Although the beds state they are queens, they are the smallest queens I've ever slept on.
Lastly, there was a leak in the ceiling on our second night. Dripped for about 12 hours pretty steadily. We called management right when it happened but were told they wouldn't get to it until first thing the next morning. By 9am the next morning no one was there yet and when we called they were unaware of the urgency. After talking longer, they mentioned the leak was there a few days before and it was just an ice dam on the roof that needed to be chipped off. As an owner, I would be upset about a leak not addressed more promptly. As a renter, it was really frustrating to be dealing with calling/scheduling maintenance while on vacation and sleeping with the constant "drip drip."
Overall, this would have been a good fit for some college or graduate students who want to pack into a house and have the freedom to be able to cook and use a fireplace and have a hot tub. However, this was not a good fit at all for a family with a small child.

This house was perfect for our winter get away. This was everything we were looking for in Breckinridge. It has everything you need to be in the mountains

We had a very time time, the wood burning stove kept things cozy, and the location was great.

Excellent mountain experience with stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings, log cabin, clean and great location to Breckenridge!

Everything stated in the description of this property is right on. If you're looking for a secluded cabin (only one neighbor within shouting distance), with everything you need, this is pretty much it. This property is a true log cabin but upgraded for comfort. As stated, it backs up to a national forest, so the views are incredible.
We cooked all our own meals and the kitchen provided almost everything we needed. I say almost, because the only thing missing was a pair of tongs (or maybe we just couldn't find them) and a good-quality knife. Understandable about the knife as who wants to donate a high-quality knife to be misused? That said, just about every type of pot and/or pan is provided, plus a wide variety of spices as well. And there is a knife that is serviceable. Just make sure you bring cooking oils etc., if you plan to cook like we did. Again, understandable that condiments aren't provided as even oils go bad and it becomes a liability issue for homeowners.
The hot tub for this property is outstanding and probably the finest we've ever encountered at a VRBO. Additionally, there is a beautiful stone hearth fireplace with ample firewood supplied. We did have issues following the directions for using the fireplace which had a rather unique damper system, and resulted in quite a bit of smoke accumulating in the cabin. The management company sent someone up to help almost immediately, but neither he nor I could determine what the issue was. Alpine Meadows is going to talk to the owners to verify the directions are indeed correct.
One final thing: although the description states the beds are all queen-size, we found them to be rather small for queens, so we ended up sleeping separately in the two queens upstairs. This was a small price to pay for staying in this beautifully appointed cabin in such an incredible location.
We had a wonderful time in this stunning cabin and will definitely return. In fact, we loved it so much I was hesitant to give it such a good review because we'd rather keep it a secret!
By the way, Hannah at Alpine Meadows was an absolute joy to work with. She was incredibly responsive and always available to answer any and all questions. Thank you Hannah!

The property was nice in a great location. The house had everything we needed. The only thing I would recommend is making sure the exterior of the property looks like the photos with nicely trimmed entrance and patio area, area was overgrown and a little difficult with short-legged dogs. We enjoyed our stay.

Amazing
We were very happy with our mini vacation in Breckenridge and the cabin that we choose online. It was immaculate and perfect for us. After a medical emergency in 2021 they let us transfer the reservation to 2022 which was wonderful for us. Thank you for sharing your beautiful mountain home with us. Andy and Donna Sands

Secluded mountain getaway
Snowed almost 3ft while we were there and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Although we lost a pair of sandals trying to get to the hot tub, sorry about that! Great cabin in the woods, the perfect mountain getaway.

The property had everything described and more. We stayed at the cabin for 9 nights encompassing Christmas 2021. The property was clean and well maintained. There was plenty of sheets, towels, and firewood, and the kitchen is fully stocked with all the tools needed to cook - just supply your own groceries. There was a drawer full of seasonings that guests have left and was a nice surprise (we added to the collection). You'll want to buy your own paper towels and toilet paper as the stuff supplied in the cabin was very poor quality. Alpine Meadows was the company managing the property and they were very nice/helpful. There are 2 bedrooms plus an upstairs area with another bed + pull out bed. Overall there were 4 mattresses - 1 queen, 2 full-sized, + the pull out bed. We let my parents have the queen bed, and by the end of the stay my wife and I were about ready to knock each other off the full-sized mattress we were on. If you need one or more big beds, unfortunately you'll have to look elsewhere. The hot tub was nice and warm, but when you turned on the jets, it would blow cold air and drop the water temperature too low. We would use it without the jets and it was just fine. You will absolutely need 4-wheel or all-wheel drive if you visit here in the winter. If you're going skiing, you're closest to Peak 9. The Maggie is at the base of Peak 9, and you can pick up your equipment rentals and lift tickets there. Parking fills up fast, so get there early. This was a trip my family and I will remember forever, and the amazing-ness of the cabin is a huge reason for that. Highly recommend.

We had the best time at the Baldy Bear. The house was completely stocked and clean. The service/booking was also very good! One morning we woke up and the coffee pot wasn't working. Within an hour we had a brand new pot sitting on the porch! We came to ski and were just minutes from the slopes. We will definitely be back to this cozy cabin!

Our family of four had a great five day stay here. The house was very clean and well kept. The hot tub was amazing and the fireplace kept the house very warm throughout our stay.
It was great being just a couple minutes away from main street Breckenridge while still feeling so secluded. There's a trail head to hike through the national forest at the end of the street that the home is located on which made for great hiking.
Overall it's a great place to stay, relax, take in the amazing scenery, and have access to hiking just minutes away. Would definitely stay here again.

We didn't want to leave!
We LOVED this place! It's in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood with open forest out back. The cabin itself is wonderful - a perfect mountain getaway. We were even greeted by moose and a fox on our first day! It was very clean and well maintained. Would love to come back!

We had a beautiful summer week at Baldy Bear! The cabin is a perfect distance away from Breckenridge so that you feel remote, in the woods, but close enough to go into town for some shopping or a nice restaurant.
There is a hiking trail that you can walk to from the cabin and we went every morning. We saw a Mama Moose and her 2 babies!
The hot tub was the perfect end to a day of hiking.
We had a fox visit almost everyday and we named her Penny.
Overall, a magical week in the mountains! We would love to stay there again.

This cabin is located off of Boreas Pass Road, in a quiet neighborhood. It backs up to a meadow and National Forest, and is really private and secluded. If you are looking to feel like you are in the mountains but minutes from town, this is a great location. The cabin is great - spacious, fully equipped kitchen, hot tub that looks out into the meadow. Other reviews mentioned, but the entire back of the cabin is windows and looks out into the meadow. This view/location was undersold in the description. The cabin is also at 10,000 feet elevation. We live in the Front Range, frequently go to Breckenridge, but after a week really struggled with the elevation - be aware when you book.

Cabin is well equipped.
Great experience! Husband and I just hunkered down for a few days. It was an excellent place to get away. We truly enjoyed the cabin and the open space behind it. We brought our dog and he had a blast. *Just be aware that there are neighboring dogs and wildlife that will come to visit. The fire place is amazing and the home is very well equipped. We would highly recommend.

Quiet Getaway
Very quiet and cozy cabin for the family. Amenities were great, including the hot tub and fireplace. We enjoyed a full day of watching a Moose and her calf wander around the property.

Very happy with rental unit. We stayed in mid-March and there was about 3 feet of snow on the ground around the house. It had an authentic log cabin style, but had the comforts of home. There were 2 bedrooms and one loft that had a bed with pull-out trundle. The living room with wood fireplace and kitchen were quite large, so we had plenty of room. We didn't try hot tub or the outdoor fire pit, since there was so much snow on the ground. It was only a 10 minute drive down to the Breckenridge town and ski lifts. With COVID restrictions in place, I would recommend making reservations for anything you want to do since most restaurants and activities were limited to 50% capacity and full if you didn't have reservations. I would also recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle if renting in the winter since the cabin is on a hill access by a hard packed dirt road that can be not well plowed of snow.

Spring Break - 2021
Overall, this was the best ski trip I have been on...
We started with this amazing cabin in the Rockies which was everything (and more) than we expected. The cabin was exactly as described in the description on VRBO. I would stress that this cabin is the perfect distance from Main Street in Breck but not so far in the mountains that it was a burden to run to the local store. The cabin is warm and with the fire going, there is more than enough heat throughout the entire cabin. Hot tub was excellent kept 140-150 degrees without stress. If I were to identify one item that I was surprised with it is the rear of the cabin. This cabin backs to a very large forest and wildlife viewing is common I found myself staring out the rear of the cabin just watching it snow in a deep state of relaxation . The cabin was as described, fully stocked with everything we needed, more than enough room but small enough to get a "cabin" feeling. I always identify at least one item to improve on when I write a review and it was difficult to identify anything that was not up to our standards. If I were the owner/ management company of this cabin, I would stock board games in the main living area. We brought our own deck of cards and some game chips but would of liked to play some Monopoly, Connect Four or Pictionary. All in all, this is an amazing cabin and appreciate the owners keeping it that way. The only items I could identify that were promotional or commercialized was the promotional coffee and bar soap other than that, it was as if I was in a cabin of my own. Thank you for sharing your cabin and look forward to doing this again.

Extended Breck Weekend
We loved our stay at Baldy Bear! The location was great just a few minutes out of town and such a cozy and comfortable cabin. The kitchen was well stocked, tons of linens and onsite laundry. The outdoor hot tub was used every day after skiing or snowshoeing. It was such a quiet and peaceful place, we will definitely be back!

Beautiful Property!
Cabin was just as described! Very clean and the hot tub was perfect on a cold winter day. Neighborhood was quiet and the views from down the street were breathtaking. I highly recommend bringing a 4 wheel drive vehicle as some of the roads when unplowed were difficult to drive on.
