We have been coming to Sunset for more than 20 years. This house is aptly named, You are My Sunshine! We loved every square inch of this beautiful home. The owners are lovely and responsive. They have infused this home with so much joy and it was a perfect setting for our annual trip.

We’ve been staying at Sunset Beach for decades and You Are My Sunshine is hands down the best house on the island. The owners have thought of everything. Communication with owners was wonderful. Cannot wait to stay here again!

What an amazing home! Anything you would possibly need or want Jill provided was there. Jill was the best host. Great communication. My grandchildren loved the pool the adults did as well. We will stay there again. A++

You Are My SunShine is not only a gorgeous home but it is in a perfect spot that is just a short walk to the beach. The home is fully stocked with anything and everything you should need. It is more than clear that the owners want their renters to have the best time. When we arrived they even had a welcome basket and little extra touches throughout the home. The home owner Jill stayed in close contact before and during our stay. She was always so nice and honestly the best home owner I’ve had the pleasure of booking with. We would definitely stay in this home again!!

Where do I even begin? My family and my sister’s family (total of 9 people) originally had our vacation planned in Rosemary Beach, FL during Memorial Day week. Because of Covid 19, our beach house rental was cancelled a week before our arrival date. My sister and I scrambled to find ANY beach destination that had opened back up for rentals! We are SO GRATEFUL we found “You Are My Sunshine” in Sunset Beach, NC! Jill was wonderful to work with and fortunately had availability for the same week we needed. THIS HOUSE IS AMAZING!! Every single detail was carefully thought out and it’s very apparent so much love was poured into this beach house so that EVERY family who visits can create long-lasting memories. Here are a few of our favorite things: The open air space underneath the house is perfect for rainy days and playing cornhole, hanging your Enos/hammocks, chilling in the Adirondack chairs, etc; The pool is perfect for days you don’t feel like getting sandy at the beach; The outside shower is so convenient; The elevator is a game changer when it comes to bringing up groceries and luggage! It took us a day or so to get used to it but after that, we used it everyday; Each bedroom having its own bathroom was a luxury, and the USB ports and TVs in each bedroom was a nice touch. Also, the beds were very comfortable; The kitchen had EVERY POSSIBLE APPLIANCE, UTENSIL, and SELECTION OF POTS, PANS & DISHES you could ever want! The pantry was great and the separate beverage cooler was so convenient for how many waters, Gatorades and diet Dr. Peppers our family goes through; The dining room table was the perfect size for our family, and we made so many memories eating home cooked meals, laughing til our belly’s hurt, and playing Bingo, Boggle and card games around this table; The sectional sofa in the family room was so comfy and fit all 9 of us on it; the 2 sets of washers and dryers made it super easy for our 2 families to keep up with washing clothes and towels throughout the week. And did I mention how stunningly beautiful...inside and out...this house is?!?! The decor is even better in person! We truly fell in love with this house and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to vacation in Sunset Beach! We are hopeful that we’ll be able to return each summer to enjoy this home. The kitchen is fully stocked, and having 2 laundry rooms means less packing!The pool is perfect for those who do not like sand... yes we have some of those!The interior is decorated just as the pictures online show. Everything about this home is amazing!!Lastly, the interactions with the owner are always friendly and helpful... they care about their home and the guests as well.I'm positive we will be spending many more years at this home... already booked next summer!

We have been renting houses for 37 years as a large family. We are use to paying big bucks for a house with five to seven bedrooms. Never before have we had a house with EVERYTHING! The owners have thought of things we didn't. You can go there and only take your clothes. They even had a welcome basket to say hello! I was in contact with the owner several times with questions. She never made me feel like I should know the answer. She was wonderful! The only downside was no ocean view. That is true of most houses in Sunset beach. Lots of beach though. You are my sunshine is the perfect house! You will not be disappointed.

We love it here. We came back for a second year and anticipate a 3rd stay next year. We've been coming to the area for over thirty years of family vacations - this is the best place.

This is a beautiful, spotless, comfortable, quiet, well stocked, bright place. Perfect for large families, master on the 3rd floor with the kitchen/living area and each bedroom (2nd floor) having it's own bathroom. Nice pool for a break from the beach which is just a short walk away. Elevator came in handy for hauling up luggage/groceries and was easy to use. Kitchen had everything. We would highly recommend this place if you need a lot of room. Did I mention spotless, one of the cleanest houses we've rented through VRBO. Owner was amazingly helpful and easy to reach, pretty much instant responses to emails or texts. Quiet neighborhood also.

This house is absolutely gorgeous! Each room is wonderfully, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen is very spacious and fully equipped with appliances, utensils, pots and pans and everything you could possibly need to feed a large group. We spent a week there with three families, including 6 adults, 6 young adults, and two small children. We were able to easily move within the house, sharing time together, as well as enough space to get away for a little quiet time. The pool was wonderfully refreshing after spending a day on the beach. It is obvious the time and care Jill and Jim spent on making this beach home just right! In addition, Jill was so helpful in providing information about the area and her special touches (including homemade bookmarks and a welcome basket) were so thoughtful. Highly recommend!

Our family loved our stay! We had the best weather and the home was perfect! Well stocked beautifully decorated. We especially loved the welcome basket and made use of many of the items. My mother was very relieved to have an elevator as she is only a few months out from knee surgery. Thank you for sharing your wonderful house!

We have been vacationing at Sunset Beach for over 45 years. This is by far the best house we have ever rented. The owners are awesome, response time to questions are immediately and they make sure all is going well during your stay. Cannot say enough good things about the owners! House is decorated immaculately and beds are very comfortable. Kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans and all the extras. Mini frig for drinks is an extra bonus also. The pool is a nice added feature too. Also have extra chairs to sit around pool and enjoy everyone’s company. The corn hole boards got a workout and even had a game against the neighbors. It was a great week for all 15 of my family and very close friends. The home was well supplied, loved having two washers and dryers! Everyone loved it and was really, really nice. Well located, not super crowded. The weather wasn’t always co-operating but that was nature, not the homeowners. Loved the porches and the pool for the kids was a plus when the beach got too much. The kitchen was wonderful, well supplied. Truly was a beautiful home and a beautiful vacation for our famiky❤️❤️

Our extended family (11 of us) enjoyed all of the details here. A full complement of cooking gear, appliances (waffle maker!) and spices made vacation delicious. The pool and beach cart and chairs were great additions, as was the elevator and accessible ramp at 40th street. The mattresses were even great! From hanging out on the deck to dancing in the kitchen to puzzling at the table, relaxation and fun abounded. The week flew by, and we can't wait to do it all again.
