This property is BEAUTIFUL and the staff are incredibly friendly. There were only 9 of us staying at the lodge and the entire experience felt so welcoming and personal. we went on a game drive and saw 5 rhinos (!) and many more animals. The game drive also included a sundowner with wine while watching the sunset. All meals were delicious and prepared on site. We we’re joined by giraffes at the waterhole while eating dinner. The room was very private and comfortable.

Beautiful large comfortable room which is well equipped, lovely food and friendly and attentive staff. Loved seeing the birds and the animals on our safari drive. Fun feeding the Ostriches with our guide. Coffee and cake on arrival was very welcome. Thankyou for a lovely stay with you. We would stay here again.

Sophienhof has a homely atmosphere which I have rarely seen anywhere else, the owner's family and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. This was my first trip to Namibia and I was very lucky to stay here, as there were car rental options available and I was able to explore different parts of the northern region whilst having a base to come back to. I am especially thankfully towards Daniel, Eleanor and Wilhelm who made me feel completely at home and introduced me to this wonderful country, where I will definitely be coming back to in the future.

The lodge is very conveniently located near Etosha in a lovely area. The place is immaculately kept with friendly helpful staff. The rooms were also being refurbished to keep up their high standard. We didn’t camp but the the camp grounds looked excellent too. We also enjoyed a great walk up the hill and watching the local wildlife. Would definitely recommend it as a stop to or from the park.

It more than lived up to my/our expectations! The stay in the VIP house was a unique experience, which we as a family group enjoyed to the fullest. Sitting on the balcony at all times of the day, the view over the Savana and the waterhole was incredible and so relaxing. Spend a lot of time in the infinity pool, looking at the waterhole and the visiting wildlife. In the mornings we saw ‘Dassies’, a Dik-Dik, and many birds from the kitchen window. Later in the day the tree squirrels entertained us, as the moved through the trees next to the balcony. We went for several walks and enjoyed the freedom of being in the veld and the ability to come close to the residential wild-life. The drives are to be recommended! They were informative, humourous and our driver, Nico, was very considerate. The staff at the reception were kind, friendly and helpful. Willem and the kitchen staff were always there to serve us refreshments and were helpful at all times. We enjoyed an evening meal, where we were served the most delicious Eland roast and side dishes, which were explained to us by Celia in the Damara language - so intriguing to hear. Twice we enjoyed the most delicious “Broetchen” in the whole of Namibia! Wished we could enjoy them more often. The farm has the best tasting water too! Thank you to Bertie and Werner for the privilege to have visited you.
