We rented this cabin to stay with family to get one last dose of summer before we got back into the swing of the school year. This cabin fit us perfectly and had adequate room to spread out. It was clean and quiet, and had everything we needed. It sits a short drive from all the fun DCL has to offer, either at Wisp or on the lake. We would definitely recommend this property if you’re looking for a place to stay in this area.

House was overall perfect for my family of 10. We enjoyed the deck space and the hot tub. Only complaint was the amount of dead bugs and massive flies in the basement. The house was clean but could use a deep clean to get rid of dead bugs in light fixtures. Basement window was broken which allowed massive flies into the down stairs rooms. However overall we had a great stay and enjoyed the house immensely.

Wonderful location secluded on the trees. Multiple beds to accommodate guests. The communication was the best we’ve experienced, and it had all of the necessary amenities which we appreciated immensely. And the porch was beautiful! Thank you, Patty and Lane, for an amazing weekend!

Location, location, location! This unit has not only location, but also great communication at a very reasonable price. We were thankful to stay here for the weekend.

Was a great experience and the host was fantastic. The downside was the hot tub did not work all weekend (which the host refunded a night due to) and the lights in the house had dead bugs inside the glass casing around the light. Overall 4/5 stay and would recommend (especially since these issues are easy to fix)

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The owners of the property were great and allowed us to check in early. Plus there was a bottle of wine and box of cookies when we arrived. It was very welcoming. It was also very close to Wisp which was super convenient. The house itself needs a little updating and minor repairs and it wasn't super clean...potato chips under ottoman in basement. Other then that we had a great weekend and thought it was a cute house.

Good location and very nice woodsy cabin like home. Lots of space. Well maintained inside.

Just finished up our NYE trip to Deep Creek—4 adults & 6 kids. The location & proximity to Wisp & Skiing was just great for us. Patty’s communication was probably the best I’ve ever experienced on VRBO, I’m not even kidding. She was super quick and thorough with her messaging, and her place is just a hidden gem!

Wonderful location and beautifully decorated. Family was a big fan of the hot tub and proximity to Wisp!

Rented the home for family's Christmas holiday vacation. The house is cozy and located in the beautiful mountains of Deep Creek Lake. Very responsive and friendly owners, and was perfect for our dogs too! Located a very short drive to Wisp, groceries and other stores on the main street. Located on a steep hill which makes AWD/4WD very helpful, especially when ice or snow. Great holiday vacation!

We were a bit worried about size for a family get together/dinner but the downstairs tv/game zone was perfect. There was planty of room. This is also the first rental that had pots and pans for larger families. Loved this stay.

My husband and I stayed here for a week for our vacation and his birthday. We absolutely loved the house and the location was perfect. Close to the parks for hiking, far enough away from town that we were nice and secluded, but close enough that we could run over to one of the coffee shops or restaurants very easily. Would definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay! The full deck on the back was enjoyed by all! It gave the feeling of being in a tree house ☺️ loved the sliding glass doors that let in so much light! We bright along our dogs and they absolutely loved the freedom of running around outside. We were able to arrive earlier than expected and check out later. It made it nice so that we didn’t feel rushed to clean and pack up. The views are spectacular. Plenty of rooms for family to spread out and sleep. Can’t wait to plan another visit! My friends and I came to this place and instantly enjoyed it, it’s exactly how it it looks in the picture and everything is set up for you and accommodate for you to have a great stay. The location is only 5 min drive from anywhere you need to be food or fun. My friends and I had a great time and it was a wonderful way to spend Labor Day weekend, and my birthday. My friends were actively around talking about coming back to spend a winter weekend here as well! My only warning is use Waze instead of Apple Maps because Apple Maps took us to a place 7 mins away with no house located, the host does do a great job though telling where the house is located and everything you need to know for your stay.

Everything was perfect! Very easy to communicate with Patty. Close to many of the attractions. The cabin was very cute and had everything you could need. Would stay again!

The house felt like home. The big lower level was perfect for game night and chilly! The kitchen had everything we needed to help us cook meals! Just perfect!

This cozy house was tucked into the woods—very quiet and private, but it was less than 5 minutes from town! The best of both worlds. There were 7 of us staying at the house for a family reunion on Deep Creek Lake. The Writer’s Refuge was a perfect place to return to after busy days on the lake. We used the kitchen for breakfast and to pack lunches. It had everything we needed to cook, even spices. The bedrooms, were warm, but we kept a fan in front of the living room air conditioner to circulate the air. All rooms had small fans. We loved the high beamed ceilings in the bedrooms. The downstairs was a great place to gather and watch tv. We loved our stay.

This house sits just off a through road around Deep Creek Lake but feels much more isolated. It sits below the road with a large deck facing into the woods behind. It appears small but has enough separate spaces for individual retreating as well as several areas to gather as a group. The hot tub would be easier to enter and leave with a handrail but has ample steps and a wide ledge to sit on for getting in or out. The controls took some experimenting to operate. Instructions would have been helpful. But it was wonderful once in the water, even in a light rain. We did not use the kitchen other than the refrigerator and Keurig coffee maker. It appeared well equipped and stocked with utensils and dinnerware. The bathtubs did not have grab bars. I had some temporary disability and would have felt safer with a grab bar. Older or mobility challenged visitors could have a problem getting in and out of the tub. The location is as advertised, close to Wisp and shopping and also close to some state parks. We did not use the TV or other electronics. The TVs have Roku devices but the basement one was not connected to WiFi. The WiFi had good speed for our devices. Our little dog had a good time exploring all three floors.

Wonderful property was everything we were hoping for. The location was great – very near to all the conveniences of town, but yet feeling very isolated and private. Communication was excellent.

We liked the property. It is in the middle of the woods so there were lots of insects and spiders. The owners were very responsive and addressed the few issues we encountered promptly, and even compensated our total cost for the inconvenience we had. We loved Deep Creek and had a nice, memorable vacation.
