It was a good atmosphere to be able to disconnect for a few days.

Very comfortable, clean, lake front property. Brought our 12 year old dog along. Multi level open staircase from back porch to dock. This was a challenge for an old dog. Amenities were nice, especially the large hot tub.

The house was better than the listing gives it credit. Communication with Marc was easy, he was quick & before and during our stay. House is in a great spot, loved the sunroom and hot tub. I think only our dog loved the house more than my hudband and myself. Personally, I enjoyed all of the trees even though there was some unwanted debris, nothing a provided broom couldn’t handle. Cant wait to book our next stay, I think next time we'll have to stay the full week.

This stay was just what we needed. The place had tons of entertainment that we used from the kayak and canoe to the board games. We even were able to bring the dog so he could enjoy. The dock during the day is a great place to hangout and we spent a lot of time at the water. Taking the canoe out and going around to the the coves of the lake was so much fun. Just have to watch out for the jet ski on the lake. Then we ended the days at the fire pit or in the hot tub. It was the start of football season when we were there so even in the house we just relaxed with a game on. This is the ideal place to just get away and relax.

All was available for a fine fourth of July stay. Roomy with space to spare, nicely treed, and very comfortable. Lots of steps to water but all nicely staggered to make access easy.

This house had such a picturesque view from the sunroom to the fire pit and dock. The house was cozy( VERY CLEAN ) and had all the amenities to cook, relax and make beautiful memories. Looking forward to going back soon!!

The property is very cozy with trees surrounding the Florida room in the back. The home was clean and everything was operational. Marc was very accommodating throughout the stay.

The property was great, however. We had to clean a lot on the exterior to hang outside.

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend visit. The rustic cottage is very clean and comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the fire pit, hot tub, screened porch and the deck over the water. Wonderful!

This property is wondeful and made for the perfect weekend getaway! The cabin was super clean and cozy and the listing was very accurate. Marc is a very communicative host and is very easy to get in touch with. We didn't have the best weather while we were there, so we weren't able to enjoy the lake, but between the covered hot tub and the warm fire inside, the weekend was perfect. I definitely recommend this property and plan on booking it again in the future!

Cottage is charming, cleaning and comfortable. The proximity to the lake and the wonders of the natural world around it is awesome . We plan to return. Thanks to Marc for creating this lake cottage and making it available for others to enjoy.

Stayed 4 nights, had a great time! Got to see some snow. Sat in hot tub watching it snow which was nice. Went on a fishing charter while there and caught two big stripers and a big smallmouth bass. Would definitely recommend this house.

The house is well stocked--the kitchen had everything I needed in cookware and dishes. The host is very prompt to respond to any and all questions that we had before and during our stay. The water views are awesome. This is our second stay at this property.

The house was clean and ready on time. We took advantage of a nice weather day and used the kayak and canoe.

From reservation to check in to check out the process was flawless. The owner and I communicated a multiple times. He was very available and answered any questions I had quickly. The property was amazing , absolutely top notch. Neighborhood was was quiet the lake views awesome and the hot tub , spectacular. 10 out of 10 with an added chef kiss. 100% recommended.

Our family stayed here for a few nights and we loved it. Pet friendly. Rustic little gem on the lake. The views were gorgeous, it was very relaxing, very quiet. Definitely will be coming back!

Good location on the lake. Our family enjoyed a little getaway before the kids head back to school. We were surprised how quiet the lake was!

Sweet By and By is what I would describe as a cozy cottage nestled away in the woods on the edge of SML. If the Hot tub had worked I would have rated it higher. This place really shines for its convenience and comfort. It really is a home away from home because one could easily leave their home with some clothing and groceries and be ready to unwind by the lake comfortably at Sweet By and By.

We had a wonderful week at this rental. The place was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The hot tub was a huge plus and we really enjoyed the swing located 1/2 way down the walk to the water. The host was quick to respond to our questions and very helpful. We could love to stay here again!!!! A great get-a-way!!!!

This is the perfect place to decompress and get perspective on life... Being mid February we weren't thinking about being in the Lake rather "on the Lake" and just absorbing the beautiful views and peacefulness of the area. Back enclosed porch is a wonderful room to spend time reading and just gazing out out a beautiful view. Our dog, Janet, normally is very skittish in strange environments but she just settled in like it was home. Coincidence? I think not. The framed poem "Sweet By and By" hanging on the wall best describes this place. "In the sweet by and by We shall meet on that beautiful shore ". When we do visit again definitely plan on taking advantage of all the fun equipment (kayak, etc) and go out on the lake. Only wish it was large enough to house 6 adults and 2 children.... Marc, do you have a larger house on the lake ? :) Thank you for a wonderful stay . You will never know how much we needed this... it was PERFECT.

We were looking for a relaxing weekend getaway on the water, and this was the perfect choice. Everything about the house is exactly as pictured and stated. In February we weren't able to take advantage of all of the "lake toys" provided with the house, but we definitely made use of the hot tub! The location is also very close to Mountain Lake State Park so we were able to enjoy hikes there. A wonderful experience, and we would do it again.

This is a great property and wonderful owner. He was very responsive to my questions. There are detailed instructions for check in/out and for use of the property and amenities. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces were just as advertised. I hope to go back!

I'm reluctant to say how much we loved this home because it might become much harder for us to rent in the future. It had everything we could have needed & wanted for a comfortable, relaxing weekend stay.

What a marvelous cabin! This amazing home located right on Smith Mountain Lake has everything you'll need (except linens & paper products) for the perfect getaway. We loved all the amenities and spent our week simply relaxing and enjoying the amazing view. The Sweet By and By home is in pristine condition, clean and inviting, with everything a person could desire. It was one of the BEST vacations we've ever had, and we'll absolutely return to this sublime property.
