The idea of a green and laid back place to take it easy. However, we struggled to fit into their regimen and routine. You need to speak good French and also like dogs. The bed was comfortable if a bit low.

Breakfast is a communal affair with the hosts and other guests at a long table sitting on hard benches. You have to appear between eight thirty and nine and grab what you can off the table, mostly bread and jam. Most people only stay one night and the bonhomie is strained.

I understood from booking.com that Relais de la Venise Verte was located in the town of Coulon. In fact it is located over 2km away. Check in time is quite late at17.00. The evening we were there, the pool was closed by 18.00!. Breakfast is not served until 8.30, so with a long journey to do that day, we had to leave too early to have breakfast.

Beautiful room with balcony and view. very dog friendly. Friendly hosts. Gorgeous pool. Fridge provided - so I could refreeze ice packs for rest of journey. Relaxed. Nice area to explore.

Quiet location down a little lane about a 30min walk from Coulon centre. Large room with corner balcony. Nice swimming pool. Breakfast was excellent - home made bread and cakes.

The distance from restaurants would not suit some people. Would have liked a few little extra touches in the room - tissues, glasses for water, nice toiletries etc.
