Second visit to this hotel in Taormina, still as amazing as we remembered and did not disappoint. Room with beautiful sea view, balcony, and only a 5 minute walk up to Taormina centre with all restaurants and shops. Also the staff were always helpful with booking trips to the local beaches (Luca and Guisseppe) and Lucy the hotel dog is the sweetest with her ball and cuddles. Thank you Villa Astoria for a lovely stay :)

The room view was just as depicted in the photos, the staff was really nice and helpful, the villa was very close to a bus terminal, which turned out to be super useful because, contrary to what booking advertised, there was no airport shuttle offered. We were able to take a cheap bus from Catania airport directly to the villa the evening we arrived. Although we arrived after the check in window (after 8.30 pm), the staff was really helpful and arranged a way for us to self check in, without an extra fee.

There were a couple of facilities advertised by booking that were not accurate - private beach and airport shuttle. There was no private beach area, the closest beach to the villa is 15 minutes walking and the bed and umbrella for 2 people cost 50 euro/day. We emailed Villa Astoria about the airport transfer prior to our arrival day, they advised us to speak to booking directly. We called booking and we were assured that airport transfer is included and they will arrange it with the property, but when contacting them, they again said that the airport transfer is not covered and recommended either a 100 euro taxi or a 7 euro bus. Our flight back was quite early in the morning, so we were not able to take the bus, the taxi would have costed around 100-150 euro, so the staff helped us find a taxi to the Taormina train station (which costed 50 euro because of the early hour) and from there we took the train (16 euro for 2 people)

The location is super great, just few minutes to the cable car, which will bring you directly to the beach. Or 15 minutes walk with really beautiful road. City center with all the restaurants also in 10-15 min walk. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Especially I want to admit Giovanni, he is nice and positive person who greeted us everyday with smile and interesting story :) the view from from our room was breathtaking.

Cleanliness - it is something you need to work with. Our bedding was with old stains, and when I asked madam from cleaning to change our bedding, she did, but new bedding was also with stains. So we asked again, and from 3rd try it looked clean. Also, you can use less plastic- for example you can change plastic glasses in rooms on normal ones, refill shampoo bottle instead of using a lot of small portion in plastic. But generally it is a really good quality for this money.

Exceptional staff! It made lot of difference to have such wonderful people helping us. And they were going above and beyond! View from the room and waking up to the sun raising, working fridge. My only comment would be - no lift - so poor Giuseppe (the first one - later dethroned to Giuseppe no 2 by Giuseppe no 2 who was in fact no 1) brought luggage to the second floor. All the guests had their luggage taken care of. Wonderful coffee made by both Giuseppes and Mauro (Mr Nobody) - won't be getting one like that at home, deffo! And then Lucy the dog, absolute cuteness who played ball all the time. It is a massive thank you for the exceptional hospitality, smiles and zillions of amazing coffees!

No lift. Giuseppe will carry on your luggage but be prepared for stairs. Not terrible but after a day walking up and down it may be a challenge for some my age.
