Upon arriving at the property, we discovered that the house had not been properly cleaned by the cleaning company and the previous guests had left the grill in an atrocious condition. The owners of the house were extremely apologetic and sent us a bottle of wine as an apology for the cleanliness issue and actually ordered a new grill the day we made them aware of the situation. While I believe the home could use some improvements, our stay overall was pleasant. The park right across the street was a bonus for anyone with a family as well.

We stayed here with our four kids and another family of five. The house was very clean and well appointed, and close to downtown Frankfort and the beach. Everyone had a great time. Plenty of dishes and cookware, lots of towels, and adequate seating. Our only critique is that the Wi-Fi router wasn’t working well for us. We could plug the cord from the modem right into a computer, but none of our devices could stay connected wirelessly. We would definitely stay again.

Home was as described- plenty of sleeping space. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen had all the essentials for convenience. Nice front porch and yard area, and very convenient location. We walked to beach often but it would be a long walk with kids/beach gear- however it would be a very short drive to drop off anything needed also. Would definitely stay again.

The place was cozy, nice, and very conveniently located close to Crystal Mountain. The owners also respond promptly.

Charles had everything we needed for a great vacation! House was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the deer that were frequently in the large yard. We would book this property again.

While the property has enough bedrooms (with beds and small closets, and fans) for many people to stay, the living area is very small. Also, the listing claims central air, which is not true. It is a wall AC unit that is very noisy and works to remove humidity but not necessarily cool the house very well. There are many fans in the house, but if your group requires cool AC, this won't cut it. Additionally, we had a fairly significant check-in/cleaning snafu which the property manager attempted to rectify, but the owner said would make right and then did nothing in the end. I tried messaging him before we checked out to talk one more time, but received no response. A few other notes: while there is wifi, it is not set up for rotating guests, so it runs out of IP addresses that it can host immediately and kicks everyone off the wifi. Essentially, there was no wifi. This is something the owner would need to fix with the cable company and the set up of the model. There were many amenities not listed including bodywash/shampoo/conditioner provided in every bathroom, a hair dryer, fans in each room, many bath and kitchen hand towels, TP, and bath fans. While the kitchen was fairly well stocked (no baking dishes, but everything else we needed was there), there were minimal grilling utensils for the nice new grill outside (propane was provided and adequate). Additionally, it is definitely too far to walk to the beach from the house, as the listing says its a quick "10 minute walk". However, Frankfort's main street and beach are nearby, but driving is probably necessary for most people. The town and beach are wonderful. The house had newer furniture in the kitchen and living room which was nice. The beds were all comfortable and the mattresses were new and clean. The window coverings were sheer and so the morning sun woke everyone up very early regardless of bedroom. Overall we had a nice stay as a family, but were underwhelmed by our experience at the house. Was it cleaned? yes, eventually. Was it as described? mostly. Some things were present that hadn't been listed and some things were less than described. Would we go again? I'm not sure. Was the owner attentive when we called VRBO? Yes.

The property was nice and accommodating for a group of 4. We enjoyed our stay while we were there on our annual fishing trip. I have a couple of suggestions for the property managers and owners. Clean the grill before new guests arrive Clean the fire pit and have it ready to be used Have the appliance in working order. The dishwasher was broken prior to our stay. And not fixed during our stay. Have the place sprayed for ants. There was a infestation of ants in the kitchen

We had a few issues while there, the dishwasher failed and flooded leaked on the kitchen floor (owner said it was new and under warranty so he was having it addressed), ants, ants, and more ants. There was an infestation in the dining room and kitchen (owner was said property manager was coming out that day or next day, didn’t show up). All but the King bed was just springs with a cover on it. If you have back issue like I do, you won’t be comfortable. Owner said new beds coming during off season. Overall we enjoyed it, great location and fit our large family. Owner was very responsive and polite. I am sure he will address the issues. That being said, we are considering giving it another chance next year.

This was a wonderful house for our large family with plenty of rooms and beds, and also good insulation so we weren't disturbed by people in the other rooms. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for all our showers. The house had plenty of parking and room for the kids to run and play. It was an easy walk to town and the beach, with a playground and tennis courts next door. The house was well equipped with everything we needed, including books and games for the kids and a great huge patio. I would love to stay here again and highly recommend the castle house!!! Great vacation home and town!!

This house was conveniently located for walking to both shops and the beach. It was well stocked with tissues for our allergy suffering noses! We had a great time and would stay here again.

Great home for a larger family. Nice location and plenty outdoor space and parking which was nice. Charles was very responsive and helpful, thank you for that. Accommodations were good, but not spectacular. I would stay again.

This is our 3rd year renting this property for a week because every year they have made improvements after we made suggestions. We met the property manager last year as we were leaving and found her to be very open to suggestions of what was needed in the kitchen ie. extra large pots, Saran Wrap and foil, and plastic storage containers and all were there this year. Our only suggestion this year would be either shades/blinds/room darkening curtains in the master bedroom and the other bedroom at the front of the house, as it was very bright at 6:00 a.m. plus car lights are seen at night. It would keep the room cooler in the daytime because the sun warms that room and the air conditioner doesn’t cool it enough. It always nice to know that everything is there that you’ll need and suggestions are taken seriously, so we plan to rent again next year.

We had a great time in Frankfort. The Castle House is close enough to downtown shopping or the beach to walk or ride a bike to. There is a park right across the street with a skate park, playground equipment and tennis courts. The town has a nice bike trail that can be picked up near the library and it's beautiful for a walk, run, or bike ride. The Castle House was comfortable and welcoming. There is a nice front porch for relaxing and a fire pit in back for enjoying a fire and s'mores. We would definitely stay again.

The castle worked great for our family of 9 adults and 2 grandkids.

We rented the castle house for a week-long family reunion with my parents, brothers and sisters and their families. It was clean and well-kept; 10 min walk into very cute downtown Frankfort and 10-15 min walk to the lovely Frankfort beach (which has beautiful sand and swings right on the beach). The house itself is a corner property on M-22, so there is traffic and a lack of privacy, but it didn't bother us at all. Even with small children running around, the yard is large so we didn't feel it was unsafe. There is a great patio out front that has a railing (like a deck), with plenty of nice outdoor chairs. The smaller patio out back has a great fire pit (with top notch roasting sticks) and a decent grill. Plenty of parking. The house itself is very clean, which is a big deal! It is filled with good quality items like nice sheets/pillows and newer pots/pans/utensils. The shower upstairs is low, but it's a minor nuisance and there is a shower on the first level too. We had a great time and would definitely rent the castle house again!

We stayed in "the castle" in 2016 and 2017. We like the size to accommodate our family. It is clean and decorated beachy style on the main floor. Needs plugs in the downstairs bathroom, so a blow dryer, shaver, etc. can be used.

The house was wonderful! Clean! Very easy to walk down town to all the shops and restaurant. The walk to the beach was fairly easy as well. There was a Catholic church right across the street which made our Sunday morning less rushed. We went across the street to the park to play on the playground. We enjoyed our stay. Our son got married at the Crystal Lake Golf Club so it was close to where we needed to be. The only improvement we would suggest is to have normal pillows available for use. The pillows provided were waterproof and flat and the plastic covering made us sweat profusely. Other than that our stay was great!

Our family had a great time at the Castle House. The house is very unique. With 5 bedrooms, the size was just right for our family (we had 9 people). The location was also nice. There were several times when we chose to walk downtown instead of drive, and it only takes about 10 minutes to get there. The house looks like it was remodeled in the last few years. The living room was decorated nicely and the floors looked good. As other reviewers mentioned, the upstairs particularly has a lower ceiling, so the taller members of our family showered in the downstairs bathroom. A few games were included, so we were able to use those for game nights. There were even some boogie boards and a beach umbrella available at the house. Frankfort is a really cute little town with nice shops, restaurants, and a beautiful beach. I know some people have complained about the road traffic, but that really didn’t bother us. There is also a large porch out front and a firepit in the back. I would recommend the house for a family getaway.
