Just got back from our stay at this comfortable cottage. We had stayed here a few years ago and Larry has made quite a few improvements. It was extremely clean, comfortable and has all the amenities needed for a nice stay. It's on a quiet end of First Lake, has a nice sandy beach for the younger ones, a nice dock and fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We so enjoy watching and hearing the loons everyday/night. It is so easy to communicate with Larry and he makes the process stress free.

The entire process was easy and everything about the cabin lived to its expectations. We particularly appreciated its location being on a bay and away from the major traffic of First Lake, making a quieter and safer stay. The cabin was spacious and accommodated our family well, which was great during the nights or when the weather didn’t cooperate. Would stay again.

We had a girls weekend at this cottage and it was wonderful! The location with dock, grassy area by the lake and firepit area was so nice! View from the deck is amazing. We saw loons, ducks and geese right in front of the cottage each day. The large table for 10 was perfect and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glasses and cookware. The furnishings were clean and comfortable. My only criticism of the VRBO listing is that the picture made the living room look huge and it definitely was not that size in reality. Other than that, everything was nice and I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family!

Wonderful location on quiet cove, heard loons in morning, sunshine on dock. Comfy beds, nice big dining table and cozy furniture Adirondack style inside. Wonderful 👍🏼

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The sandy beach area was perfect for our children to play in the shallow water. We enjoyed paddling down into the cove and to Dog Island. The house had plenty of space for our family of four, including a large dining room table, two full bathrooms, and lots of bedrooms. The house is close to Old Forge and shopping, which have found is helpful when you have young kids. Larry was great at keeping us informed about any changes (e.g., extra cleaning due to COVID-19) and easy to communicate with.

We thoroughly enjoy our stay- cottage was clean and well equipped fantastic location on a quiet spot! Everything we expected and more!

Impeccably maintained home in a top quality neighborhood on a quiet bay with a protected sandy swim area for our toddlers. Good fishing, wildlife watching (loons, beavers, ducks, geese, deer). Three generations of our family found something to do every day. The host provides more information on the property and things to do in the area than the best travel agent.

This rental is located in a peaceful, quiet area of First Lake. Love hearing the loons at night and having the deer visit. House exceptionally clean and well stocked. Slept six adults and one child comfortably with extra room if needed. Our family has been coming to Old Forge for ten years and this has been our favorite rental by far! Great communication with the owner. Already looking forward to next years stay!

We stayed here with 3 other couples (3 nights) and it was perfect for our needs and desires! Eating at the large dining table was great, as were the views of the lake from the house and deck - a gorgeous location. Easy to launch our kayaks and a canoe. Well-equipped and open communication with Larry, the owner, who really went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. Many great memories were made and we hope to return.

This was our first time renting a camp for the weekend and we will most definitely be back. The location of the camp had no boat traffic, which made for a very quiet and peaceful stay. It was very clean upon arrival both inside and out. Larry checked in on us as soon as we checked in to make sure the process was and if we needed anything! I absolutely recommend this rental!! We will be back next year!

This is a wonderful place for a large family and friends on a very nice lake. A kids beach is great for the young ones. Dock for a boat and fishing. Get some fire wood and enjoy the fire pit. Everything needed is there. Just bring the bedding and towels. All in all this fine cabin in the woods is recommended by us with no hesitation.

The property was absolutely perfect for our family vacation. Everything promised was received. When I initially searched for a property I filtered “4 bedroom, lake front, air conditioning” and thank goodness for the AC because this week was warm. The kids enjoyed the dock and beach to play, and I loved the ease of getting my kayak in and out of the water. We even rented a boat and safely docked it for the week. Every morning we kayaked while the sun was rising and each evening ended with a campfire at dusk listening to the loons - and we were even treated to the coyotes howling a few nights. Honestly we can’t think of one thing missing from this property. So 5 stars to 169 Fern Lane and the owner Larry Norton.

This cottage was perfect for our family week. Friendly neighbors and beautiful setting! Wonderful waterfront for swimming, kayaking, watching and listening to the loons from the deck, and docking our rented boat. Great fire pit for our evinging campfires! Plenty of parking and room both inside and out for our children and grandchildren! Was grateful for the air conditioning on a couple of our days! Everything we needed for a memorable vacation. This is a great place to stay right on the water!! Larry was very communicative and made sure that you are set up for a great time. Had some bad weather and the house still held a big family to play games and eat and watch TV and all the movies that are provided. Got to launch the kayaks right off the small beach and fish off the dock. Nice quiet atmosphere. Perfect for a family get away. Property very clean and maintained. Will stay here again!!!

We had a beautiful weekend . This is a great vacation home with a spectacular view and everything you need for a memorable time in the Adirondacks!! We truly enjoyed our stayed and chance to Make More Memories with our friends.

We had a great time staying on First Lake. The house is almost at the end of the lake, so there wasn’t lots of boat traffic or noise. The week we were there the houses on either side of us were empty so it felt very secluded. I’d describe the house decor as “70’s ski house”, but it is clean and charming. We spent lots of time sitting on the porch or Adirondack chairs on the lawn watching loons and the sun setting. It’s a short drive into town, where we found everything we needed for the most part. We did take the owners advice and do a lot of grocery shopping in Syracuse before we drove to the house. The town of Old Forge is very nice, but very small. One of our group had to leave early and thought he’d be able to Uber to the Syracuse airport, but nope. No Uber or Lyft drivers in town, we had to drive him to Utica and get an Uber there for the remainder of the drive to Syracuse. Don’t underestimate how remote it is. With that being said, cell and WiFi service were great at the house. There’s lots of great hiking trails in and around Old Forge, and we rented a canoe and kayak for a few days, so we had lots of nice outdoor experiences. We would absolutely stay here again.

We had a 3 family outing over Labor Day weekend. The cottage and location were great. The area of the lake had less boat traffic and we felt good about the teenagers kayaking and fishing on their own. The entrance to the wafer and the fire pit setup were great. Larry provided good, detailed info on the cabin location and nearby attractions. We would definitely book again and come back to Old Forge.
