This property was totally awesome. Everything from checking in until our day of departure. The house has a southern feeling thru out. Pine boards thru out added to the charm. Plenty of everything, utensils, dishes, pots and pans , board games, puzzles and much more. The beds were so comfortable also. The ocean view from the covered porch were also breathtaking. Looking forward to renting Mary J's in the futere. Thank you Claire.

Nice getaway for the family before school begins! It was quite and not many people which is exactly what we wanted. Nice views and really great naps on the porch!

We enjoyed our week at this sweet yellow beach house. It was spacious enough for our crew of seven. The kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed the selection of games, books, and beach equipment which was used often. The location, ocean front, was phenomenal. It was also not to far from several little restaurants. The island as a whole is noncommercial so it was not overly busy. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

We had a very pleasant experience at this location. It did get a little warm in the main part of the house during the day, and the beds were a little uncomfortable, but we would definitely come back and stay here again. Claire was very warm and friendly, and was very helpful. We had a wonderful week here!

I was worried the house was going to be cramped but luckily the pictures are deceiving. Very spacious with room to gather in comfort. Porch was awesome, you can still enjoy the ocean on a rainy day. Communication with the host was very easy.

We (my family) have been coming to Holden for many years now. Unfortunately the house we usually rented became unavailable, so the search was on for a new place to stay this summer. Thus we found the most perfect beach house, Mary J! Mary J was exactly what we were looking for, ocean front with amazing views, outdoor showers, room underneath the house for Cornhole, perfect sized rooms, well stocked kitchen, etc. I could go on forever about everything we loved about Mary J! To top it off, Claire was an amazing host and answered any and all questions we had. We hope to come stay in Mary J next summer! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your family beach house. We took great care of her! 💕

Our visit to Holden Beach at the Mary J was an amazing experience. The beach views and ocean breeze on the front porch were breathtaking. We napped and relaxed on the porch for hours. The house had many touches that made it a home during our stay. The pictures truly don’t capture how perfect this little house is. We had the best week making memories. We had 9 people stay and there was plenty of space for everyone. The beach wasn’t crowded and extremely peaceful. I’ve never experienced such a beautiful ocean. The sand is so soft with shells everywhere. Plenty of tide pools for littles to play in several times a day. From the front door to the beach is just minutes away. We are just blown away by what a wonderful time we had. We can’t wait to come back and create memories for years to come. PS Don’t forget to plan for sheets/towels. Boomers was extremely easy to work with. They deliver and pick up. The house included all other blankets/pillows/kitchen towels needed. Claire was so kind and helpful with all our questions.

Great again, as always! We just keep coming back. We love the front porch, big dining room table so we can eat together and play board games, very close to the beach, which is nice when you have an infant, a two-year-old, and a four-year-old. Family who owns the property is very easy to work with. This was our third visit, and don't have one negative thing to say yet.

Location is great and the screen in porch with ocean/beach view is very peachful. Beach is not crowded which is what we want for a quiet and low key vacation with our small kids. The kids love it and have tons of fun picking up shells and playing in the sand. The kitchen has everything we need to prepare family meals.

First time at the Mary J and I must say it was absolutely everything my family needed and could of wanted . The house is beautiful and the inclosed porch was perfect and cool! The view of the ocean was amazing! The pictures don’t do it justice. Perfect for my family (including a four , two and 18month old kids). They could really be comfortable and themselves in this house . Will becoming back to stay again and again .

My family and I LOVED this beach house. Very clean and SO close to the beach, maybe a 2-3 minute walk tops. My favorite part of this house is the sun room, which has windows you can open to enjoy the ocean breeze. The house is so close to the beach you would feel like you are on the beach in this room. We had 2 rainy days on our stay, so this room was perfect for that. The owner is very sweet and personable as well. I would definitely book a stay here again!!

We loved both the Holden Beach area and the rental house. The front porch was amazing with perfect views and a constant breeze. You can tell this home is well loved with personal touches and decor, and the owner was very friendly with great communication. Overall we had an amazing experience. The house was beautiful, well organized and equipped with everything we needed. We had our 1 year old with us and the house was perfect for her to run around in. I would highly recommend this house to others. It honestly became our home away from home while we were there.

My family and I enjoyed our vacation immensely. Holden Beach was very peaceful and slow-paced. The house itself was well-suited to this type of community and struck me as the quintessential North Carolina beach home--comfortable, relaxing and accommodating, but not excessively showy or pretentious. The home was clean, the beds comfortable and the kitchen stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. We also loved that the ground underneath the house was fully paved. This was a big improvement over the homes with gravel underneath and helped us to really take advantage of our time out of the sun. The best feature, though, was the ocean-facing porch. We really enjoyed relaxing in the rocking chairs with the breeze passing through. Finally, I have to say that the owner was very helpful and friendly. Thank you!

Liked the house. It actually feels like cottages we have rented on NC beaches over 5 decades—rustic, roomy, good ocean views and access. Especially liked “front porch” which is enclosed but windows all around for ocean breezes and views from ample rocking chairs and other seating. Had some minor IT issues but owner is addressing those.

This was a great find. It felt like home to us for the long weekend. We especially loved the front sun room where we could sit and watch the beach. Very nice layout with a big living room/ dinning room/ kitchen area. The rooms are in the back so it was nice and quiet for sleeping. We loved it!
