This property was fantastic! Pool was warm! Close distance to swimming with the manatees. we were able to launch our boat and have it at the dock within minutes.

We spent 3 amazing weeks at the Mermaid House. It was fabulous, clean and everything we needed. The host Chris was available when ever we had questions, and gave great recommendations of places to see and eat. We even saw manatee in our canal one afternoon. This house is close to everything. We will be back.

Perfect distance to 3 sisters whether you go by car or kayak directly from the home. It is a good workout from the home but you don't have to be an athelete to get there. The home was outstanding and the amenities especially enough kayaks for 8+. This was a great New Years getaway for us. Thank you for the hospitality!

We grabbed this rental on a whim....and quickly realized just how lucky we were to get it! The property is located on a quiet cul-de-sac and is exactly as described. The home was recently renovated and is absolutely stunning. The owner has thought of absolutely **everything**, from the abundance of activities for the littles (ages 3-12) - boardgames, bikes, art table with coloring supplies, arcade games, pool toys, kiddie-sized kayaks - to entertainment for adults, as well! The kitchen was impressively stocked, as were the bathrooms. We took advantage of it all during our (entirely too) short visit. We intended to spend most of our time in town but once we settled in at the Mermaid House, we quickly realized there was little reason - or desire! - to venture out. The tiki bar and fire pit were great for grilling and hanging out while the kids played in the perfectly warmed pool which was such a treat over an unusually chilly FL weekend! We ventured out on the kayaks with the kids towards Buzzard Island during high tide and quickly stumbled on a pod of manatees heading out of Kings Bay. We followed them quite a ways before enjoying a great workout back against the wind and tide! After this incredible experience, the kids enjoyed time on the paddle boards and kiddie kayaks in the protected area along the dock out back. The owner was incredibly responsive throughout our stay. We were so impressed we quickly looked for open dates so we can enjoy another future stay!!

We got there really late since west-her played a factor on our drive. Immediately we felt like we were at home. Chris is amazing with communication and I would give them a 10+ since they truly thought of everything we might need

We had a fantastic stay at The Mermaid House for our annual scalloping trip. So many wonderful amenities that aren’t typically available. The ice machine was AMAZINGLY helpful! The house was very clean and comfortable. The driveway was conveniently large. We were able to fit an F-250 with pontoon trailer, F-150 with boat trailer, and an Expedition Max without using the grass. The communication with the owner, Chris, was easy and he is super nice. We hope to book again next year!

Our family has been coming to Crystal River for years. This was our first stay at The Mermaid House. WE LOVED EVERY MINUTE! The house is perfectly appointed with everything you need... and then some. The kids took the paddle boards and kayaks out every morning. There is literally nothing that has not been thought of and provided for you. An unexpected delight for all? The game room including electronic basketball, foozball and Galaga! Many hours spent in this room when not swimming with the Chubby Mermaids or taking a leisurely kayak ride. We loved it so much, we've already booked our vacation here for 2024! Already counting the days. : )

So many wonderful features and I really appreciate the thoughtfulness and thoroughness the owner put into making it convenient (tons of towels, extra courtesy condiments/toiletries, coolers, that ICE MAKER! 🙌 etc.)
The only recommendation I have is to have Rope available for use of kayaks so visitors can easily anchor at their destination. Everything else was way above and beyond what is typically provided for convenience at a VRBO! Really above and beyond, and love what you’ve done with the place with all that cute kid bed-closets.
FYI -
1) the outside city/county trash bin was almost full when we opened it this morning to put our trash in, so we pulled it to the curb. I couldn’t recall when “trash Day“ is, but because it was 2/3 full and full of flies, and then completely full once we put our couple of bags in - I pulled it to the curb… hopefully that’s okay.
2) the hose at the dock didn’t have water. Or the supply valve is off? I looked and couldn’t find a shut-off valve, but it may be as simple as turning that on and wanted to make you aware. We didn’t fish/clean fish so no issue for us, but making you aware.
3) One of the styrofoam cooler is the garage had a very strong dead fish stench so we didn’t use it, It’s still in the garage, but is by the kitchen entry door (from the gar. into the kitchen) away from the other coolers in case you want to toss it or bleach it.

This was our second time staying at The Mermaid House! Loved it the first time and the second time was just as great! The house is a home away from home, everything needed is provided, property is very well kept and owner is very communicative! New Tiki Bar is a great addition! Pool is wonderful for the kids and the wildlife we saw from the back dock was a wonderful sight!

There were six adults and we had a great time. Fished off the dock and saw a manatee. Pool was great. Lots of fun.

We have been stayed in this home before and in the area several times. Last year we missed out on reservations and stayed somewhere else close by and it just wasn’t the same. The Mermaid House feels like home and has been the best place we have stayed. The owner is quick to reply and the community of Crystal River is fantastic. We travel for relaxation and family time and this home is perfect. We will be back and are counting down the days already!

A perfect getaway for my sister, brother-in-law and myself. The house was impeccably clean and offered every amenity thinkable. The location on a quiet street, along with kayaks and bikes were wonderful. We will definitely revisit this gem.

Awesome property. Very clean and well equipped. Whimsical mermaid theme made the trip feel even more special. Lovely pool in the back yard. Right on the canal, we saw lots of birds and even an alligator. Host was very prompt in communication. Would definitely stay here again.

Super nice canal home convenient to everything there is to do in the area. Chris truly is a super host! We could easily see he takes pride in his home and his choice to share with others. Chris provided many small conveniences we used for our week stay. Coffee and creamer, showering needs including body and hair care products, toiletries for the week and even laundry detergent. Very generous compared to other homes we rented. House was clean, check in was easy, and Chris was very responsive to a few questions I had about the area and even shared a mini pineapple with me when I asked him about his potted pineapple plant! The pool is a nice feature of the house and was warm enough to use during our February stay. Definitely wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this home again. Thank you Chris for a very enjoyable week.

The Mermaid House has it all! Great location with beaches and golf right down the road as well as this being a beautiful home in a quiet waterfront neighborhood. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the heated, salt water pool as well as kayaking, paddle boarding and not to mention the Galaga game was a big hit! It felt like a home away from home. The host was very responsive to any questions we had and they have truly thought of everything when it comes to this home. There are tons of games for the kids, bug spray, sunscreen, pool towels, and an extremely well stocked kitchen. We loved the Crystal River area and when we return, we will definitely seek out the Mermaid House first as a place to stay. :D

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mermaid House! I highly recommend paying a little extra to heat the pool; it was heavenly. We were just a few minutes’ drive away from town in one direction and the Fort Island Beach in the other. We didn’t have kids with us, but we enjoyed riding the bikes through the beautiful neighborhood and played the Galaga video game ourselves! Dolphins were even finding their dinner in the canal one evening -very cool! Great stay!

The mermaid house was the perfect central location to explore the local area and see all the wintering manatees at 3 sisters, homosassa and weeki wachee springs. The property was relaxing, private and had everything you need after a long day of hiking and kayaking including a heated pool. We will definitely stay here again when visiting this beautiful area of Florida.

We couldn’t have asked for a better location for our week stay for four adults and 2 toddlers. Beautiful, updated home with tons of space. Nice dock on a canal to Kings Bay. Great yard with cool deck and bar with fire pit and grill. The owners have gone above and beyond providing anything you could want. Comfy beds, Kayaks, toys, books, tv in every room, every kitchen appliance you would want, coffee, a toddler sized picnic table, an abundance of bath towels and pool towels, bikes, foosball table, Galaga arcade game, laundry supplies, heated pool…. I could keep going. This house is a perfect spot for getting to all surrounding attraction easily. We were within 30-40 Weeki Wachee, Homosassa Nature Preserve, Pontoon rental in Dunnellon on the Rainbow River. I would definitely recommend staying here and we hope to stay again in the future.

The Mermaid House exceeded our expectations! It was beautifully decorated, extremely clean, and very well appointed. Somehow even better than the listing. The heated pool was a hit with kids and adults alike as it was very warm.The beds are very comfortable with great linens. The house has everything you could possibly need; Chris has thoughtfully taken care of it at all — beach towels, pool toys, kitchen equipment, bathroom toiletries, everything! We loved taking the kayaks down the canal. Had amazing experiences with River Ventures to swim with manatees and dining at Seafood Seller & Cafe. We certainly hope to stay again soon! This property was very nicely remodeled and had so many amenities. My 3 boys loved the pool and it was heated which was great. If we come back to Crystal River this is the place we will be staying at.

If you're looking for a home to stay in while visiting Crystal River this is it! The house is beautiful and very spacious. It is VERY clean and has really nice updates. The house has an open concept floor plan and the master is on one side of the house with the other bedrooms on the other. Plenty of space for everyone. The house is well stocked with everything you'd need and then some. The pool was great to use and to sit by and read a book. The area is so peaceful, and one couldn't ask for a nicer subdivision to be in. It's very quiet, had friendly neighbors, and is close to restaurants, grocery store, etc. My husband said the house location was perfect for him because the canal location is close to the open water of Crystal River and not a far drive to fish in the Gulf. The owner, Chris, was very friendly when messaged and answered all questions. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to stay in the Crystal River area. Thank you for sharing your place, Chris! We look forward to a future return.

Mermaid House was an absolute joy. The owners have thoughtfully provided so many things that make the stay really comfortable. We loved the screened in heated pool (especially since it was dropping to 40 at night!), and the array of kayaks was terrific. The kitchen is well-equipped, beds are comfy, and house is in beautiful condition. We kayaked the entire bay, including into Three Sisters spring, on our first day. Our snorkeling trip with Plantation Adventure Center brought all my manatee dreams true, as I had a baby suckling on my hair and nuzzling my face. Seeing Crystal River has long been on my list, and I'm so grateful to the Mermaid House owners for making our stay as great as it was. We'd return again in a heartbeat.

Our family had a fantastic stay in this house. We had three boys with us, ages 4,8 and 12 that thoroughly enjoyed the pool. We cooked several meals in the well equipped kitchen and the spaces were nice with an open feel but with nice areas to nook into a quiet space if needed. We watched birds, enjoyed all the stars and paddled around the inlet.
