it was too far to walk uphill on the way back from the Centre of town.

Absolutely loved our stay at Chalet Hotel Hartmann! The staff were friendly and hospitable. Our stay came with free bus passes valid for the duration of our stay that can bring us to the city centre. It property overlooks lush greenery, has wellness rooms and sauna that you can use, a very generous breakfast spreads. Rooms are also spacious and comfortable. Truly felt at home!

The service by all staff was excellent, special mention to Alex. He always check in with me on what he can be of service. His suggestion on the driving route was great.

The walk from town to hotel is very tough up a hill.

Very nice and clean accommodation. Excellent breakfast. Perfect location to reach different cross-country skiing trails in Val Gardena.

I miss the balcony in the room.

We arrived, about 6:30pm, after reception closed but had no difficulty accessing our room since the hotel had left our key in a lock box. The room ("superior suite with mountain view") was nice but smaller than expected from the pictures on booking.com. Hotel was charming, nice breakfast room and meeting areas. Staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions on where to ski. Especially nice was the private hotel shuttle that took us to rent skis, waited, then took us to ski lift. Same service at end of day. The hotel had plenty of free parking. The area was also nice and quiet, a healthy walk to the village. We did find a nice restaurant about 10 minute walk from hotel, Wine Bar Zirm, that had excellent food, we ate there twice. Walk to village restaurants a little further, which was OK for us since the walk was nice and enjoyable, especially after eating.

Maybe some more breakfast choices, eggs cooked to order and bacon. The coffee definitely needs improvement!

There are a small number of rooms so it felt like staying with friends. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.

It was not a problem for us but the property is located about 10-15 minutes walk from the center of Ortisei. The walk back is almost all uphill. There is bus service (not clear how frequently in the evening, we always walked) but something to keep in mind if you don’t like uphill walking.
