An architecturally stunning villa just minutes from the beach with views to die for. We have rented villas in Santa Teresa and Mal Pais and this if by far the best. Michael/Juan and the amazing team of Lourdes/Eduardo looked after every detail to help us enjoy the most of our trip. The rooms are spacious, air-conditioned and the kitchen has everything you would ever need. Not to mention the outdoor BBQ with Green Egg and Gas BBQ. One of the most enjoyable things for us was that the villa is completely private without any neighbors …. only the sounds of the jungle and the waves from the beach. There are many private areas around the property to enjoy - pool lounge, day bed, massage cabin and more. The owners clearly take pride in their jungle garden. We would definitely recommend this modern villa for anyone who really wants to get away and enjoy vistas with amazing sunsets from the infinity pool - a lap pool at that. We enjoyed cooking with Lourdes and leaning new recipes - an amazing cook. We will definitely be coming back.

Our stay in Costa Rica was highlighted by our time at Casa Blanca, an amazing home with an incredible view and great indoor and outdoor living spaces. The host Michael was extremely attentive to all of our needs and the property truly gives you the feeling you are living in a tropical paradise. If Mal Pais is your travel destination, I would highly recommend this beautiful home!

Amazing property in a beautiful setting. The most attentive and friendly owners and caretakers, they certainly went above and beyond in ensuring we had the best holiday, We would not hesitate to book this property again! Recommend renting four wheelers /ATVs rather than 4 wheel drive vehicle unless you can ensure one with higher clearance. Mike, Eduardo y familia, muchas gracias!

This location has it all! Breath-taking views, gorgeous landscape, friendly people and helpful hosts. If you’re looking for a place to make you/your group feel secluded from the rest of world…look no further. Private gate, plenty of space for larger groups and a kitchen to easily entertain :) Costa Rica should be on any adventure lovers bucket list and Casa Blanca has to be seen to believed

Casa Blanca exceeded our very high expectations. We stayed for an entire month and had different sets of friends join us each week. The house is absolutely stunning, with one of the best lap pools I've ever seen and an endless series of "Rothko-esque" sunsets that mesmerized us daily. Eduardo and Lourdes, who run the property and are related to the owners, were helpful, but never intrusive. This is the owners' dream home and it shows in terms of thoughtfulness and detail. It is starkly modern, but also warm and comfortable. The bedrooms are not all equal to one another, but I don't think anyone minded. We also felt completely safe the entire time. The house is accessible by a remarkably rough road and you will need an SUV to get there. Once inside the gate, though, you are in a private heaven. Casa Blanca is an absolutely great house. I communicated a lot with one of the owners and we were like old friends by the end. He couldn't have been more accommodating. I have nothing negative to say about the month other than warn future guests that they have to get up the road and the bedrooms are uneven in size and amenities. Those are remarkably insignificant negatives. We would rent here again in a nanosecond. I'd give this house six stars if I could.

This house is paradise. The views are crazy beautiful. Evertyrhing works (but the toaster) - the outdoor space has many different hang out places that provides privacy and different type of view, from ocean to jungle. The BBQ area is perfect. We enjoyed doing yoga in both deck, swim laps in the pool, running down and up hill. We cooked our meals in the kitchen and had beautiful sunset drinks. The decor is personal and welcoming. The outdoor showers a must do. The owner was super helpful and I wish we had more time to get more organized to try,all their suggestions. Santa Teresa is 15 min away. Not a big deal but you do want to go down hill more than twice a day’ We will recommend that place to all our friends.

Absolutely amazing property. I love the Santa Teresa/ Mal Pais area, because there is so much to do. This was the first time, however, that I found myself just relaxing at the house. The view from the pool rivals any that I've seen in the world. Michael's attention to the details was incredible, and I can't say enough about the Eduardo/ Lourdes property management team. I can't wait to go back!

This is my first VRBO review as my wife usually does it but I feel obliged to write his one. This property is the best VRBO I've ever stayed at and we've been to many. Felt like rock stars! Exceptional value. View of the Pacific over the infinity pool is stunning.. Property is amazing. Kudos to the architect. Saw birds every morning thanks to the many trees that the owner planted. Thank you Adam B (prior review) for recommending Quads (ATV's). I'll never go to vacation in CR again without getting them. Michael arranged two quads to be there for our arrival and to be picked up for our departure. They were so much fun and perfect for getting to and from the property and exploring various parts of the area. We visited several beaches, water falls, saw monkeys, all kinds of wildlife, etc. Michael set up breakfast with Lordes which was amazing. Her husband Eduardo took care of everything we needed on site. Really nice genuine good people. Michael set up dinners through Aaron who sent his chef Mario to cook for us 2 nights. Ceviche was the best we've ever had.. especially the one with various fruits mixed in. They fish almost daily so the fish dinners were super fresh! The a/c's in the bedrooms are connected to the doors so remember the doors have to be closed for the a/c's to stay on. Michael helped us with that as we're from New Orleans and need our AC. The living room is not climate controlled but the walls of doors open fully provided a good breeze and when we needed cooling off the pool was outstanding! So nice to be able to swim at any hour. Outside shower overlooking the Pacific was wonderful. Security was excellent, alarm, cameras, serious entry gate with code to enter/exit. I see why so many people stay at this wonderful home multiple times. We can't wait to be in that number!! This is what Pure Vida is all about! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. This was our sixth February spent at Casa Blanca and we plan to come back every February for as long as Mike and Juan Carlos will have us! You think it can’t possibly get any better but every year it does! This year we were amazed by all of the new gardens, plants and fruit trees surrounding the house. Mike and Juan Carlos are incredible and gracious hosts and Eduardo and his family take care of the guests as if they were family! We definitely have a home and family in Cost Rica that we can’t wait to get back to every February!

This house is incredible. Secluded and quiet, its a perfect base camp for the area. The views of the jungle and ocean are even better than the pictures. You won't want to shower indoors ever again. The house has tons of great outdoor areas to enjoy and as a chef I appreciated the very well equipped outdoor kitchen. It has an ice machine! Didnt even know I needed that, but it's a very nice luxury in the tropics. Host and caretaker/cleaner were all lovely people. Overall the attention to detail and the level of thought that went into this property sets it apart from other houses I've rented around the world. My entire family is already talking about booking it again.

Michael and his team are real top level VRBO homeowners who care about their guests experience. Awesome communication. Mal Pais is even more raw and relaxed than Santa Teresa. You can get into town easily or relax in the jungle with an amazing pool up at the home. Pictures don't do the home justice, we loved it and all the care that Michael put into the home. We will definitely be back!Couple words of advice: Rent a true 4x4 SUV yes the driveway is steep but after a couple times you will get used to it. Meet Michael and team in town and follow them up to the house first check in to make it easy. Rent ATV's for awesome adventures (Michael can help you) it makes the trip soooo much fun. Work with Michael to get reservations at some restaurants in town he's not only an amazing owner but moonlights as quasi concierge. The property is fantastic. Really well equipped, we are staying in it during covid 19 lockdown. Cannot fault the property and the owner Mike has been really helped during a time of u certainty. We obviously have not been able to leave the house for a month now, I have two boys 3 and 7 and even with the restrictions the property has been accommodating as best as it can, but doing a good job. The caretaker Eduardo has done everything he can to help us with our stay including providing security at night during such uncertain times. Really good.

This was our 4th/5th time at Casablanca, and we will keep coming back. The property is well maintained and upgraded each visit. LOVE the new outdoor kitchen and gym! This paradise is is private and the view is unparalleled.

They are very accommodating and always on top of communication. Eduardo (the house caretaker) and his family are exceptional hosts. We were sad to leave them at the end of our trip and they honestly feel like part of our family. This gorgeous house and the surrounding property have all of the amenities and beauty that you could hope for and more. We cannot wait to return next February. Casa Blanca, Santa Teresa and Malpais have really become our home away from home!

Staying at Villa Casa Blanca was the major highlight of our Costa Rican journey. The owners helped advise us on travel plans, things to see, how to get there…. and more. After traveling through Arenal, Guanacaste and Monteverde, we arrived in Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. It’s a beautiful and luxurious beach community with vast stretches of pristine beaches and palm trees. After a quick stroll, we arrived at the Villa. The gates opened and no photos could do what we discovered any justice. This place is amazing! Beautifully landscaped and perched just above the beach with views of the beaches stretch for miles. Amazing. The Villa is very clean and well equipped. It’s a well designed modern cement and glass house….. and the swimming pool and outdoor lounges fantastic. The bedrooms are spacious, modern and the bathrooms gorgeous. The kitchen is open with great views over the pool to the Pacific… and the kitchen is well equipped for any chef. The outdoor marbled BBQ tops it all off with it’s own outdoor patio and dining area. And the roof terrace. Simply put they owners have paid great attention to details to create special place to enjoy paradise. The village of Mal Pais and Santa Teresa are wonderful. Many fantastic restaurants (no McDonalds thank you!) with a great variety of food: sushi, mexican, peruvian, french bakery and on and on. The village is very rustic and unspoiled yet has wonderful boutique shops and restaurants. And the beaches are vast with wonderful tide pools, great surfing and more. There are plenty of activities from paddle board to zip lines to waterfall. I don’t think we had enough to time do it all but we will be back. I would certainly recommend not only this are of Costa Rica but this particular Villa. Thanks to a wonderful team who made adventure so wonderful.

I can only describe the house upon arrival as breathtaking. The house is truly a sanctuary and the views are far more majestic in real life than pictures can possibly convey. (And the pics were beautiful.) The layout of the house was at the same time spacious and comfortable... excellent feng shui! Everything one needs was already there. We had planned many activities but abandoned several because the house was absolutely perfect and we didn't want to leave! We ordered massages and two therapists gave all the ladies on the trip amazing outdoor massages... imagine listening to beautiful birds and the wind in the trees outside during the massage. Outstanding! The entire process from beginning to end was seamless. We received all the information needed to get to the location and settle in, where to go when we got there, and the team at Casa Blanca was immediately available whenever we needed them. We are guaranteed to return again!

All went great, the house is huge and have a lot of amenities and extras, the kitchen is stocked with all appliances. We could comfortably fit 7 people. We really enjoyed our stay i would recommend it to others. There are 3 things i would point out for future guests: 1. If you are wondering, it is not a toddler safe environment but great for bigger kids 2. You must rent a 4x4 SUV or an ATV, no other vehicle can reach the house. Make sure you rent it, you will not regret it. If you are not a confident driver this might be a problem for you. 3. Nature is beautiful but if you live in a country like ours where there are zero exotic or dangerous animals you want to be careful because there are sometimes scorpions, snakes, wasps around the house. Check you sunbeds, towels carefully. The owner and the staff were friendly and easy to communicate with.

You will not be disappointed with this property. I spent a long time researching for the perfect house for our guys’ trip to Costa Rica, and my whole crew agreed they have never been at a better vacation rental. Luxurious house with every amenity, including strong wifi, Bluetooth music speakers, tons of towels, dishes, etc. Incredible view, pool and privacy. We were able to get loud at times without upsetting neighbours, because there aren’t any! All beds had top of the line comfort. The owner is very helpful with arranging the trip and the caretaker, who lives nearby but not on the property was available whenever needed. You need a 4wd vehicle to get up the 5 minute driveway. It is steep and rocky at points. Consider it part of the experience! If you are booking somewhere in Mal Pais/Santa Teresa, this rental has to be your first choice.

We were a group of seven (three couples + one) staying at Villa Casa Blanca for a week. Everything was perfect from the communication before and throughout the trip from Mike and help received from Eduardo around the house and for recommendations (the massage recommended at the house was amazing!). Nothing beats the view from the pool and deck. It’s absolutely stunning and crazy to get to come “home” to each day. The hill to the house definitely requires four wheel drive and while we were fine getting up and down in the rainy season I’d recommend ATVs for the full time of you can swing it (they were surprisingly affordable at $60/day in Oct.). Not only are they quick and convenient but also just a great way to get around and explore. One other suggestion (not at all a reflection of Villa Casa Blanca it Mike who recommended Alamo) but to those renting a vehicle— we ended up paying double what we were quoted to get full coverage insurance because apparently the rates online (at least for Dollar) do not take into account country specific rates. Just a word of caution. But back to our stay, I can’t say enough positive things about the experience. Having a contact for questions proved to be incredibly valuable from the mundane (how to open the safe or get into the laundry room) or suggestions on activities. Highly recommend to anyone interested in staying in Mal Pais!

This property was everything is promised to be and MORE. The owners paid attention to all details and our stay was one of the best ever! This Villa is certainly a gem in paradise and everything is says is even better when you arrive. The Best!

I know it sounds simplistic but every single thing about this place is beautiful. The way the light comes in the morning, the sounds of nature at night, the pool, and the view. Mike had also thought of everything, someone to welcome you in, sound system around the house, bbq, it really felt like home somehow - even though I'd never been there before. It felt like a glass of wine after a long journey.

This place was totally ballin'! It's completely secluded and totally luxurious. You just need to check out the photos! It is very well maintained, modern, clean, and with amazing grounds filled with quite places to read, etc. And then there's the incredible infinity pool! I would very much recommend it to anyone, though you have to be comfortable driving up and down the hill :)

We had an amazing stay at Casa Blanca. It is a beautiful architect-designed house, all glass and concrete, very modern and airy yet so comfortable and easy. Great, well-equipped kitchen and bathrooms. Lots of towels. Fabulous infinity pool with cushioned sunbeds. The views at sunset must be among the best in the world. The caretaker Davie and housekeeper Lizbeth could not be more helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Lizbeth cooks too if you want her to. It's a 15 minute drive (you will definitely need a car) from Santa Teresa, where shops and restaurants are great. The beaches are to die for, whether you want to surf or swim. There are loads of activities within easy reach: snorkelling, fishing, zip-lining, bird-watching etc. Altogether the most fantastic holiday and Michael could not be a more concerned and helpful host. We would LOVE to go back!
