Die Rooisand Desert Ranch ist eine wunderbare Lodge mit mehr als sympathischem Gastgeberpaar. Das Frühstück war lecker und das Abendessen wunderbar. Die Lodge liegt ideal auf dem Weg von oder nach Windhoek, ist sehr gepflegt und wunderschön angelegt. Durch die sehr persönliche und kompetente Betreuung von Maja und German haben wir uns extrem wohlgefühlt. Maja verwöhnte uns mit selbstgebackenem Brot. Die Astrotour mit German im Observatorium war einer der Höhepunkte unserer Reise. In kurzweiligen und interessanten Gesprächen beim gemeinsamen Abendessen haben wir viel über Land, Leute und Tierwelt erfahren. Leider waren wir nur eine Nacht auf der Rooisand Desert Ranch. Wir können die Rooisand Desert Ranch uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder, vielen Dank an Maja, German und ihr Team.

We were on a cycling trip and this was our one luxury rest day. We were the only guests so had a great time, the large pool was ours! The staff were all very helpful and looked after us, even though we were two very hungry, very dusty cyclists. The food was excellent. We didn't know what to expect as we hadn't stayed in such a place previously but it turned out to be perfect for our much needed break. We took the cheapest room, small with two single beds, but it was perfectly comfortable.

It was wonderful to stay at the Rooisand Desert Ranch, which is a great location in a very beautiful area near the Gamsberg Nature Reserve and mountain (approximately 10 km away but in easy viewing distance). The ranch is a natural stop for people traveling between Windhoek and the coast and/or desert. The area has a very clear sky at night, and people sometimes come from afar to watch the stars. There is a path / dirt road to a viewing / stargazing platform a few kilometers from the ranch. It is within easy walking distance, but it is also possible to drive there. I went for a random morning walk in in the neighboring hills and encountered several zebra, springboks and many different kinds of birds. The management and staff were very hospitable and welcoming.

‘Family style’ meals allowed us to get to know the host and was a welcome touch.

A little noisy around the room early in the morning but nothing too terrible!

The food was excellent. The host couple were very good.

An air conditioner would have helped but being off grid makes it very difficult.
