Great location, helpful staff, comfortable and roomy apartment, and nice character to it.

Central and very clean

The host and the place itself are an absolute 10 out of 10: easy communication, well decorated place, total comfortable. It would easily be a gem, but...

the noise from the bars in the street through the night is the killer. There is one previous review which describes the issue in quite a detail, so I won´t repeat, it is true. You are advised to call the police directly after 1 AM if the noise persists, but it was not on our holiday agenda in a foreign coultry. Fortunatelly the host provides the ear plugs and there is an AC in the house so you can keep the windows closed to reduce the noise levels, so we took this option out..

This is appears to be a lovely apartment in what everyone would expect to be a lovely location. Reading the listing and on arrival, we experienced this..However......

BE WARNED. Things change drastically by early evening. It turns out that this location is the central bar and nightlife hotspot for the Guimaraes youth. By 8pm there was loud rock music, shouting and screaming in the street right under the apartment windows. This then continued - and got worse - before finally dying down at around 3am. The bar in the next building seems a particular problem, with a tattooed, threatening ‘rock style’ clientele, who then got drunk, argued and partied in the street right by the door and under the windows (this is the 1st floor apartment, there is also a ground floor one which must be horrendous) On reporting this to the owner the following day, her response was simply that she knew there was a severe noise problem, and that if I had been scared and intimidated I should have called the Police - and of course no refund or compensation would be available. She provides earplugs by the bed. BE WARNED AND AVOID THIS LOCATION
