The ambiance in the hotel is very pleasant and it has the feel of a top class art deco hotel which must have been ‘splendid’ when it was built. The staff were all very courteous and helpful and the rooms were large and very comfortable, although they are old fashioned.

Parking was not ideal. You have to leave the car in a public car park nearby and there is nowhere to stop to drop off bags before parking. The car park Is quite old and the spaces are small - we damaged our car whilst squeezing in!

Good room with space. We got a corner room which is nice. Breakfast was good. Parking nearby worked very well.

the hotel is situated right in the center of town with a view of the river. Staff were friendly & helpful. The lunch was good & the room was clean & comfortable.

The equipment & the decor in the room was starting to get a little tired.

Hotel is beautiful and location is nice

Because of the coming festival, there was no room service, hotel bar fridge was empty and after asking they refused even just a beer of soda. Restaurant was closed too, that is just fine, but for this price they should still provide some basic service for people who stay in the hotel or provide a smaller option list, but now it was just "talk to the hand". Staff was arrogant and not helpful.

Nice hotel and nice location. Cocktails are lovely but you have to wait ages for them to serve you.

If you name your hotel "Splendid", this raises expectations. I am from Holland, travel al lot, and despite my native language is Dutch, I speak English throughout whole of Europe. Even in France, where people speak this language rather poorly in general. But most people try. But not in the Splendid Hotel, despite they claim to be a tourist hotel. This concrete colossus is overlooking a river and is situated right next to a picturesque bridge. As is mentioned in the hotel information. However, if you cross that bridge, it is nothing but a slump like neighborhood, where streets are littered with broken glass and garbage. Right in front of the entrance of the hotel, poop is lying on the floor. And even a day later, not a single hotel employee has felt the need to remove this, so that the hotel guests can enter or exit the hotel without stepping right into it. The direct surroundings of the hotel are full of garbage. It is everywhere. The side of the hotel provides an outside entrance to the Spa and Wellness area. A nice fountain welcomes the guests with some brown colored substance. When my wife and I made an attempt to book a diner reservation in the restaurant, it was "fully booked". Our experience is that when a hotel booking is confirmed, the reception contacts us to inquire if we want to book a table in the restaurant when that is necessary. But not here. During the evening, and after we had diner elsewhere, we noticed that the "fully booked" restaurant had more than 30 tables that were prepared for dinner, and only a handful of guests that actually had diner. The restaurant manager was not able to communicate with me in any other language than French. This was an experience we hope not to encounter again.

Location is great. the rooms are very spacious and the beds are very comfortable. breakfast was buffet and nice enough. plenty of choice for all tastes.

the hotel does not have its own parking garage. they use a public parking garage that is located right next to the hotel by the river. we’re a bit worried leaving anything in the car. the carpeting throughout the hotel is really stained and needs replacing or cleaning. Does not give a good impression of cleanliness. not talking about a spot or anything small. But big dark stains everywhere. Staff are nice but not welcoming as you would expect in a 4star hotel.

this hotel features nice roomy rooms, clean and with the characteristics of a typical Spa resort. parking isn’t right in front but at short distance. kind and correct

Make sure to keep strictly to the start and finish times of breakfast, lunch and dinner. A couple of minutes overdue and they won’t serve you anymore, telling you that “the kitchen is already closed”

Art Deco experience does not describe it... it's more like time travel into a forgotten realm of faded 30-ies grandeur. We ended up there by accident and I was surprised not to see Hercule Poirot in the lobby... Apparently Ernest Hemingway swung by the other day... Who knows. Did not see any Bugattis or Cadillacs outside. The rooms were unabashedly comfortable. You did not "fall" asleep. You "sunk" into a world of dreams. Bathrooms were grand. You would have the shower even if you were clean! Aircon worked. We had "canal view" rooms which offered a splendid morning view - just like the name suggested. Kids remember this hotel most from our trip even though it did not have a swimming pool. (well, that is not true - there is a Spa, which we sadly did not have a time to enjoy!). Perhaps next time...

Instructions for car parking would have been nice.

The staff were very helpful with our booking. The beds had a very comfortable mattress on them. Good water pressure in the shower. Nice decor and outside space for drinks. Unfortunately no time for the spa.

The pillows were very uncomfortable for us- too soft with not support to sleep on one’s side. Its a shame as the mattress was great so firmer pillows would make the nights sleep better. Quite a lot of noise from outside by the river late into the night / morning. The bathroom was quite dirty around the edge of the floor. Reception staff should recommend places to eat if their own bar and restaurant is closed. We were given no guidance and ended up having to find a spar supermarket as most the town had then closed.

Nice spacious rooms, lovely bar environment, very good spa area. Friendly staff.
