Location

Very noisy in the evening and through the early hours. The noise from other apartments who where shifting chairs just reverberated through the floor and walls. Poor instructions before booking and on the day of arrive in respect to checking in and linen arrangements, no towels, no kitchen cleaning items and checking out. Someone on reception was rare.

We were looking for a good-value-for-money self catering apartment for three days skiing at St Lary Soulan. The apartment fitted the bill admirably, it was warm, the bed was comfortable and the kitchen was small but pretty well equipped. We forgot to order towels as an additional extra but a phone call to the number provided resulted in them being delivered an hour or so later. The staff were really helpful.

For skiing, the location of the Soleil d’Aure is really not that good however. Yes there is a free bus to take you to the bubble lift - but the mornings we tried to catch it it was full up. The nearest lift to the apartment is the older télécabine which resulted in a 50 minute wait in the queue before getting on ( in the French holiday periods it must be even worse). The only quick way up the mountain in via the new bubble lift which is at the other end of town. Next time we will stay closer to this.
