A little family break with our 2 sons, one of which just arrived from Australia. Had a lovely stay here. Great location, place was spotless, beds fairly comfy. Small downside only a small courtyard for a garden which at this time of year not a sunny place to sit at the end of the day.

Great little terraced property close the heart of Bakewell. Furnished to a high standard and very comfortable for 3 friends. The kitchen is well equipped and the fires in the lounge and kitchen quick to warm the rooms up if the central heating isn't on. The only slight negative is the steep stairs from the first floor down into the kitchen area where you need to tread carefully! All in all excellent value for money in a great location.

We were visiting from the US with our English friends. This cottage in a picturesque market town certainly didn't disappoint. It is tastefully decorated and has all of the amenities. Location is perfect, you won't regret renting this home.

Incredibly easy from beginning to end with prompt communication from hosts. Beautiful cottage containing everything we needed and more to make our 3-day stay an absolute delight. We all enjoyed every minute of our time in Bakewell and it was lovely to return to Wainstones after our time exploring the area. The two beds we used were very very comfortable and the bed linen was of a lovely quality. A hugely enjoyable stay - thank you hosts for everything, especially the complimentary beer, biscuits, milk, tea, coffee etc - much appreciated.

Wainstones is a lovely cottage with everything you need for a perfect break. It is centrally located for buses and offers easy access to local shops and restaurants. The owners were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

Everything was excellent from booking through to leaving the property. The cottage was so central with a one minute walk into the centre of Bakewell and free parking either immediately outside the cottage or nearby. The cottage was so well equipped we could not have asked for more. On arrival there was a free welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and two bottles of beer, what a lovely surprise. The cottage was immaculately clean throughout and was a real home from home. The living room was bright and airy through the day and lovely and cosy at night with the fire on. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we hope to return again in the future.

This was our 2nd stay at Wainstones and we can't wait to return again. It's a beautiful cottage, immaculately clean and so cosy and comfortable. We love it! Perfectly located, just a couple of minutes' walk from Bakewell centre and ideal for exploring the local area by car, bike or on foot. The owners obviously take great pride in their property and in ensuring you have a wonderful break. It's the little things, like freshly cut flowers in the kitchen and local goodies to welcome you, that make a difference. Don't hesitate. Book it now. You won't regret it!

I stayed here for a few nights during early September and found it to be a wonderful cottage. It is in a great location near the centre of Bakewell and is very charming in every way. The cottage could not have been cleaner ... it was absolutely spotless. You will find everything you need in the kitchen and there was a good selection of guides to the local area. Chris was extremely helpful and prompt in his responses to our queries. All in all, a great place to stay.

We had a lovely stay at Wainstones. The cottage is very centrally situated on a quiet road in Bakewell. Being opposite the churchyard means there is a lovely view from the front windows. The bells do continue through the night so bring earplugs if you are a very light sleeper. I don't think I have been in a cottage as well equipped as this one! The cottage was spotlessly clean and there were some very welcome gifts when we arrived. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to others.

This is one of the most beautiful properties I have stayed in, perfectly located in a tranquil setting. The property is clean, compact and fully equip, overlooking the stunning church yard. Great little cottage, centrally located for the village of Bakewell and easy driving distance to other local attractions. Very well equipped, clean and modern. Hope to be back!

We had the pleasure of staying at Wainstone's over Christmas. The cottage was extremely cosy, and it had been decorated for the festive period which was lovely. Our teenage girls shared the twin bedroom at the top which is a great space with its own little TV and chairs. We found everything we needed in terms of kitchen equipment and made good use of the walking books! It was great to be able to do walks right from the door of the cottage. The beds were extremely comfortable too. The only slight draw back was the lack of parking outside the cottage but wasn't a major problem as we always found somewhere just up the street. However the central location of the cottage in Bakewell was great as it was only a few minutes walk to the shops and pubs! We loved this cottage and would definitely stay again.

Another fantastic New Year in this great cottage. It's our third time so that tells you how good it is. The cottage is superbly equipped with everything you can think of and would need. Bakewell itself is a lovely town with lots of great shops and places to eat. It is also close to the Monsal Trail so lots of great walks on the doorstep. Chris is the perfect host and is easily contactable if you need anything. Have already recommended to several friends

Family of 4 stayed for 3 nights. This cottage was exceptional. It was spotlessly clean and lovely and cosy, perfect for family evenings by the fire following 2 days of walking. Wainstones had every essential that a home away from home would need. The welcome pack including biscuits and beer was greatly appreciated. The attic bedroom was a complete hit with our teenagers! Bakewell is a brilliant base for walking, which meant we did not need to drive anywhere for 3 days. We hope to return to this beautiful cottage at some point in the future.

The cottage is perfect - comfortable, clean and with everything you could wish for for a lovely break. All mod cons and all set up to be so easy to use. The house is very well appointed throughout, but be aware of a steep staircase needing care and attention! The location is perfect to walk into Bakewell where there are plenty of things to see and do and several good pubs and a couple of excellent restaurants. The town is very busy (especially at weekends and on Monday market day) but we had no problems finding residents parking spaces (with the permit supplied) and could relax. Great walks nearby and lots of wonderful places to visit around the Peak District. Haddon Hall and Chatsworth on the doorstep virtually and wonderful Hardwick Hall a 40 minute drive away. Too many others to mention! This is definitely a place to come and stay and really make the most of a great area from a perfect base.

A beautiful, homely cottage conveniently situated on a quiet road just a few steps from Bakewell village centre. Everything you could possibly need is to be found in the cottage and the owners provide clear, written instructions on how to work all appliances. We particularly enjoyed the Esse gas stove in the lounge, which looked just like a wood burning stove but was much easier to deal with. Very cosy on a chilly evening! The booking process, key pickup and resident parking permit all worked seamlessly. The owners left a lovely welcome pack of wine, biscuits, milk, tea and coffee, which was much appreciated after our drive. It's only a small thing but this was the first time we've ever been self-catering and haven't had to go out to buy washing-up liquid and salt! The stairs are quite steep and narrow, which may be a challenge for some elderly guests but other than that, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

Chris is a gracious and thoughtful host. Wainstones is a charming, well appointed, and peaceful place that is steps to the town center and minutes from hiking and biking trails. Highly recommended

we have just returned from a lovely winters break. wainstones is a very comfortable character cottage equipped to a high standard ,its is in a great location near to shops and public transport .the welcome pack was a nice touch also the parking permit is a real bonus.it is a credit to chris and kay and we hope to return sometime in the future john Jackie port and friends
