Old, renovated townhouse with untraditional layout. Very quiet, very quaint with lots of little details, showing that the house has been given a lot of attention. There is a lot of bath gel, shampoo and other products available, which is a really nice touch when you travel light, as I did. Zuleima is a nice landlady, who volunteered to meet me at a Mirador close by, after Google Maps gave up on me. No creepie-crawlies, as have been reported in other parts of the island. The view from the top of the outside stairs is nice, and you can actually see the sea from there, though not from the courtyard. Nice place for parking. It is quite easy to get back out by just reversing all the way down to the main road. El Hierro is gorgeous - go if you can, though it is a bit out of the way. However, do not believe Google Maps if it directs you down a 180 degrees turn, very narrow path with an enormous slope from Mocanal down to Pozo de Las Calcosas, e.g. via C. los Almendreros - there is no road, and it is very difficult to get back up! If it looks dodgy, it probably is. I followed this self-made rule for the rest of my trip and had no problems.

Not a house for the mobility impaired, as you have to scale several flights of stairs to get into and around the house. Cool stone house, which may be good in summer but possibly uncomfortable in winter. Difficult moisture management, as the window in the bathroom does not open, and ther is no ventilation. I made a draft through the house through the front door and other windows and fanned out the moisture from the bathroom with the door, which worked well. The house can probably cope without airing out, but it is not ideal. Remove the bathroom mat from between the open shower and the toilet when you bathe and instead dry the floor with a towel, or you will have wet feet every time you go to the toilet. Closure of the shower niche with a door would be a real plus, though it may be easier said than done. There is a lack of furniture for laying your things on at the ground floor, though the floor may actually be clean enough. Likewise, a line for drying towels outside would be nice. Note that Booking.com does not indicate the road number of the property (25) in the confirmation bit of the app. This caused both me and Zuleima a serious delay, as I thought Calle Tesenaita was a side road with only one house, so no number was necessary. In fact it is the long main road, so the number is crucial.

The appartment is situated in a 150 years old building and the atmosphere in the apartment was unique. The small court yard with barbeque was excelent. Because of it's location it was a good basis to explore El Hierro.

The house has very thick walls that keep the house cool in summer. However, we stayed in February and it was relatively chilly in the appartment. Blankets were there to keep warm :-).

We had a very warm welcome from the owners of the property. The casita is in the perfect location for getting out & about it is a well presented property which made our stay very comfortable & are looking forward to returning in the near future

Rural, cool design, comfortable apartment. Host was awesome and helpful. Very close to the mirador. Has a supermarket and an awesome guachinche in close approximately.

Shower didn't have a curtain or door, so ended up filling the bathroom with water everywhere.
