This is our second stay in 3 years at this house. It suits our extended family perfectly. Plenty room to hold us all with activities that suit everyone’s taste. The only thing that could be better is an updated set of cookware. For our large group, it’s easier to cook in than to eat out. There are plenty pots & pans, but they are the same ones from 3 years ago, and they weren’t in the best of shape then. Other than that one drawback, we love the house & location & will no doubt be back for future visits.

Enjoyed a wonderful weekend at this beautiful home on the lake. Views were spectacular, bedrooms spacious. Fabulous bonus room downstairs.

Lake rider was wonderful! It was a peaceful, quiet place that was perfect to come back to after a day at busy conferences.

14 of my family members all met up for a vacation at this house. It was a beautiful stay. The house had almost everything you could possibly need. It's clean and spacious and very welcoming. We had so much fun in the lake. Would recommend for any large group. We would absolutely come back here in the future.

Lake Rider was everything we were hoping it would be for our family vacation. Our group of nine included three children (two under 2 and a four year old), their parents and two sets of grandparents. Because the house is located in a cove, there was no boat traffic and we could swim safely, including the ones who went on long swims. With our kayaks we had easy access to the main lake as well as the Peak Creek portion of the lake. The house has both a screened in porch (which we used infrequently) and a large deck which we used often a lower, covered patio. The view from the deck is beautiful and several nights we watched the moon rise from there. A sun sail provided shade during the day. We had one rainy day but the house is so big so between the large living room and equally large recreation room, we were able to keep the children active and entertained. The location is great with easy access to I 81, shopping and marinas. The house was clean and was properly furnished for large groups: plenty of dishes, pots/pans and seating at the tables inside and outside for all of us to eat together. There were some issues that came up (dock, coffee pot and smoke detector). We called the management company and they took care of everything immediately. Their response time was really impressive. We would most certainly rent this house again.

This is a beautiful house and the convenience of being close to the interstate and the location that you were on at the lake is perfect. There Was no Internet access, even with the Wi-Fi password for the home and there were no televisions except for one in a shared family game room area. This worked out OK for our group. The four, 10 and 12-year-old did have access to some movies. The icemaker did not work in the refrigerator which was inconvenient since we cooked and shared cocktails on the trip. The Coffee maker was extremely slow so we ended up purchasing one for ourselves while we were there. The water access was nice but the floating dock had a large hole which was a safety concern for our little ones while we were out there. Otherwise it was an amazing place.

We rented Lake Rider for our daughter’s graduation from Virginia Tech and it was perfect in every way! We were able to travel to campus without having to get on 81 which was very helpful with the extra graduation traffic. The house was perfect for our extended family that joined us for graduation as well as our daughter’s friends that visited after graduation. The house is extremely well equipped and made for gathering together!! The view is amazing and it is so very peaceful! Before arriving, I saw reviews about lack of hot water but from a response to a previous review, it appears the hot water heater was replaced a few months ago. We had no issues at all with hot water, even with multiple people showering in close succession to each other. The wifi is sufficient for staying in touch but isn’t fast enough for streaming or downloading and does max out at times, but that helped us unplug and enjoy our time!! Thanks, Lake Rider, we will be back!!

I can't say enough great things about this property. It was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed to enjoy a weekend on the lake and celebrate my son's graduation from Radford. We were able to sit out on the deck and enjoy sunrises over the lake in the AM and a full moon over the lake at night. It was so peaceful and serene. Besides the beauty of the lake/surroundings, there was something for everyone to do: fishing, floating in lake, paddleboating, playing pool, chess, & foosball. So many wonderful amenities! When I had a question about check-in, the property manager responded within a few minutes to my e-mail. My family will always have wonderful memories tied to this property. Thank you.

This house was perfect for 6 adults and 2 4-year olds. Open concept and the large kitchen allowed for easy meal prep. The screened-in porch was an asset on a rainy day and the fire pit was enjoyed by all. The view of the lake was amazing. The downstairs game room was also a highlight.

Prior to traveling, I inquired about the troublesome reviews over the last two years of not enough hot water. I was reassured it was not a problem. 13 of us arrived, 5 adults and 8 teenage boys in town for a campus tour of VT and RU. The hot water heater finally crapped out on our group the first night. The property company was very responsive and sent a repairman immediately. It was not repaired before our check out. We were reimbursed for one night. A tankless water heater is essential for a home that size that can accommodate to 14 people. The home is beautiful, nicely decorated, perfect location, and great for groups. Internet was spotty but we knew that and didn’t die. There is a regular coffee pot for for all you Keurig users. With the exception of no hot water, it was an excellent time.

Nice home in a convinient location, accomodated 11 of us (ages 10-76) for a Christmas getaway. The bunk room was a little tight but the younger kids liked it. Well appointed kitchen, we cooked every day and the only thing we ran out of was dishwasher tabs and dish soap. We visited Radford and recommend Sharkey's, great food and atmosphere.

Would be even better in the warm weather months, but well-appointed, spacious home with some privacy and fantastic view of the lake, surprisingly close to the house. Appears to have recent exterior and interior upgrades. Kitchen well-stocked, but bring extra paper products and cooking spray or oil if cooking in and staying more than a couple days. Property manager VERY responsive and cordial to short-term issues that arose.

Gorgeous lake house for a large family Thanksgiving reunion weekend. Breathtaking morning views over the lake. Kitchen was well equipped for the large meal. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is the hot water. You can’t advertise a high end property like this sleeping 14 people and expect them to have to time their showers all 30 minutes apart or take cold ones. No cable/WiFi is also unfortunate but that was clearly stated in the description. Thanks for a great stay!

We were a group of friends from college that haven't seen each other in 15 years in some cases. The house has a nice size table to eat together, and the great room upstairs is very nice. The pool table was fun, I'm glad they have it, but it's a bit worn which didn't matter to us much. The beds were comfortable, on the hard side, which we like. The only downside is the home is pretty far from things on a short dirt road. But it's all by itself with a great view of the lake. The porch is great but it was too cold for us to enjoy in November.

The house was everything and more especially the location and views. We would come there over and over again. The only issues we had was the downed tree that blocked us when we arrived for 2 hours with out elderly client sitting in the dark on the driveway. Our groceries we had that were frozen melted and were wasted also. And wish there were tv's in every room with cable but over all it was a great home and great stay.

Beautiful location and house. Location on lake and close to I85. The open concept was great and the 2 master bedrooms worked well for us. We used the basement doors as a good entrance for my elderly parents since the driveway to the front door was quite steep. That worked well. However, my elderly parents were uncomfortable using the basement walk in shower since there were no grab bars to help them balance . They also noticed there was not anywhere to sit to get dressed and put on their socks in the bedroom. Also, the propane grill ran out of propane in the midst of cooking dinner for the family gathering. The backup second tank was also empty. A minor issue but still bothersome. Generally, a good visit except for these inconveniences

It's on me for missing the listing indicating no cable/satellite and weak WiFi. I guess I've come to include those things....like working toilets and functioning doorhandles. But, with a group of guys in for a reunion weekend, not being able to watch football during a bad weather weekend was rough. We couldn't even stream from laptops. All that said, the place is very nice and well appointed. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well appointed. Loved the back deck and porch. The lake was down a bit, but still a great view. I would rent again....if there is cable/satellite available.....please.

Honestly besides the internet it’s a perfect place for anyone.. especially if your not the party type perfect environment and I left a meat smoker there for the next group. Thank you so much for the place and to be the start of our brocation that we will do every year. So much laughter and memories!!!

Super clean and very nice. Fit everyone very well! This property is run by a third party company, which was awful to communicate with, but that was the only issue we had.

We had a wonderful vacation. We appreciated that the house had everything we needed for linens and a stocked kitchen. Be prepared for no wifi! I only was able to get cell service on the porch or dock. I was planning on working Friday but wifi did not work ;) darn! This house is a place where you are meant to be outside. We enjoyed the lake every single day. Very clean. A great time was had by all ages 3 to 97. Make sure you open up the Queen bedroom doors to enjoy looking at the lake while drinking your morning coffee. The beds were all very comfortable! We would definitely stay again!

We stayed here for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. There was 8 adults and 3 children. Plenty of room for everyone with a great room for the kids in the lower level with plenty to keep them occupied. The house was beautiful and has a great layout. The view and lake front access was amazing. Very quiet and the secluded cove was perfect for everyone to swim, fish, and paddle board without worrying about boat traffic. The location is somewhat secluded, but that is what we wanted. Only complaint is we didn’t catch enough fish!! Loved our stay. Highly recommended. We would stay here again.

Everything is fine except the volume of hot water. As there is propane already in the house I would recommend a tankless propane water heater for an unlimited supply of hot water.

Wonderful house with beautiful lake views. Perfect for our family vacation. 10 minute drive to grocery store, 15 minute drive to the beautiful claytor lake state park. Wish we had rented some kayaks in advance.

This property is great for a low-key family getaway. Beautiful grounds and the home was very clean and comfortable. Dock for swimming/fishing, pool table, air hockey, gorgeous views. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking at home. You should be aware that there is very poor cell service and internet connection if that is important for anyone in your group that may need to be connected for work..etc. We were aware of this going in and it was not a big issue for our particular group on this weekend. We would stay again!

Good view of Claytor Lake from the large windows of the living area. Nice large porch with a screened in section. Nice grill. No TVs, except 1 downstairs for the Wii. WiFi is just for low data usage. No steaming. It is the perfect place to unplug and unwind.

We had a lovely stay at this lake house. Very, very clean. Kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed. Views are beautiful. It is very quiet and relaxing. Teenagers enjoyed the wii and the basement with pool table. Decks are huge with ample seating.
