The house was beautiful and we really enjoyed exploring the town and walking to most places. There were toys for our child to play with and even books for her to read! The proximity to all the restaurants was our favorite part!

Great place to stay. Gerard' property are great hosts. This place is beautiful well kept and very clean. Would most diffinately stay there again. Short walk to town.

We stayed here for a birthday trip and it was such a special experience. The check in was a breeze and the host was very professional and kind. Everything was clean and the sheets and bedding were very nice and soft. The historic nature of the home was was made it the most special- we loved that it was kept intact and all the antique touches. It’s extremely close to the Main Street which is amazing- we could walk to the shops and restaurants easily and it’s still peaceful and quiet. A wonderful trip!

The home is short walk from Mystic town center. Marvelous location. The house was in terrific condition. the host is very responsible, easy to communicate and accommodating. we will be back!

This property made it easy for us to enjoy our time at Christmas - as family traveling from 3-5 hours away to be together. The location is great and the design and style of the home was a good fit for us, and was very accommodating. We look forward to staying again.

My mom, sister and I met in Mystic to celebrate a 50th birthday. The Captain’s House was so perfect. Every detail of the house is quite beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will return to Captain’s House next time we visit Mystic!

The Captain's House was truly perfect for our recent stay in Mystic! We've been vacationing here for years and this was by far the best location! From top to bottom, the house was extremely clean, had the coziest charm and everything we needed for a relaxing week. Gerard was so thoughtful, checking in periodically to make sure everything was going well. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with coffee & other items and the dining room was lovely if you like to eat-in. The outdoor patio space had gorgeous views of the river and the proximity to Main street was really convenient for walking to restaurants and shops. We stayed a week but it felt like a month given how we felt so at home and comfortable in this house.

I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Mystic! This house is fabulous and the location can’t be beat! We loved it!

I will keep this review short and to the point....this is without question the best place to stay in Mystic without a close second. The only way we would be closer to the center is if we actually stayed on the drawbridge itself. You see where it is on the map so that is self explanatory. The house itself is simply perfect. Bedrooms, kitchen, living room, outside sitting area, parking / driveway, dining room....all perfect and precisely what you need. There is the connecting cottage where another couple had stayed...issue or overlap with them other than friendly hello in the morning and evening. You have all the privacy you need. The house is so cool as it is older but super clean and cozy. We stayed with 5 people and had plenty of space. Bottom line is that if you rent this house you will never want to rent a different house in Mystic ever again.

Charming accommodation with easy access to everything Mystic.

Due to family illness and a storm, we were unable to complete our stay as planned. But I was very grateful for Gerard's prompt and gracious communication throughout. We can't wait to make up our visit in the near future!

A group of friends rented this home to celebrate our 75th birthdays. The listing accurately portrays this property which is tastefully furnished in early American deco and has a well appointed kitchen and baths. Our two favorite things were the table and and lawn chairs facing the Mystic River and the proximity to town, restaurants and shopping. We would definitely rent this home again.

Wonderful location right in downtown Mystic next to the inlet/cove. Walkable to everything in town - shops and restaurants galore. Super host. Very responsive and quick to fix small issue with neighbor parking in our spot. Would stay again. Very nice place inside and out. Pet friendly, but no sign of pet presence. Shops and restaurants were very dog friendly. Everyone was happy.

This was our second year staying here. Last year we were here 3 nights....this year 4 nights. The location is spectacular...on Mystic River with a very short walk to downtown (~ 100 yds). The house is filled with charm....very clean with all the amenities one would want. Coordinating everything with Gerard was flawless. We plan on being back in Mystic next year and this will certainly be our top choice.

Perfect location for a stay in Mystic. Great water views for relaxing on the inviting outdoor patios. And with traffic and parking at a premium you can walk most everywhere. This historic home welcomes you with a pleasant surprise that steps you into another era when you arrive. Thoughtfully restored. Use caution with the restored original floorboards but they add to the charm. Periodic decor yet all the modern conveniences. Spotlessly clean. Owner is easy to reach and quick to respond to any questions. Thanks Gerard. Had a great time.

We had a great time in Mystic to celebrate my brother getting married. You can't beat the location, minutes walk from downtown. Very nice historic home, exceeded everyone's expectations.

We had the greatest time at this house! The house is perfect, location is perfect and it's just such a great New England vibe. The house is roomy and has everything you need. The outdoor seating area is perfect for having coffee or just hanging with family or friends. The property manager was also very communicative and friendly.

My husband and I and the dog enjoyed our stay at the Captains house. Clean, roomy, and well appointed, we felt that our comfort was thought about in all of the many touches, such as soft throw blankets around the house, very comfortable beds and the softest sheets you could have. Off street parking a definite plus. Thank you!!

We've walked down this street so many times in past visits to the downtown are of Mystic: It was great to experience! Beautiful antique home; with modern kitchen and 2 bathrooms. The furnishings are comfortable but true to the home. Right on the river and close to everything; park your car and enjoy all restaurants and shops. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay. The proximity to town is great. The view is fabulous. The host was excellent at making us feel at home. I will note this property has a lot of antiques and original (200 year old) pieces. It may not be the place to bring a young child or dog if you have any hesitations about them. I know my in laws still have a towel rack missing because their 5 year old grandson hung from it. If this sounds familiar get a babysitter! It’s a rare gem so if you can book it do so

The Captain’s House in Mystic is a wonderful blend of early 19th century architecture and modern comfort. Even our teenage grandchildren commented on the contrast. The floors, although worn, creaky and uneven in places are a real attraction. The house is warm and comfortably furnished. Gerard is easy to communicate with and shows a concern about our comfort while staying there. The location is perfect for walking into to town and yet minutes away for an easy drive to area attractions. This is our 2nd visit to this property and we will return again.

Gerard was fantastic. He was easy to get in touch with and checked in on us over the length of our stay. The house is in the perfect location to walk around the downtown area. So you can park your car and not have to worry about finding space since there is plenty at the house. You have to go to Sift and Young Buns. They’re owned by the same folks but has an amazing array of sweets and if you’re wanting a sandwich Soft is where you wanna go. We went to S&P for lunch and got good info on where to get some oysters to bring home:) We will be back in the near future. Thanks for everything Gerard! P.S the beds were great. we slept well and got to veg out with their big TVs.

From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. The house is beautiful & relaxing. Parking was easy (since parking in downtown Mystic is not). Everything was clean and better than we expected. The beds were very comfortable. Gerard was always available & replied quickly. We could tell he wanted us to have a relaxing time & wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. It was cold while we were there & he even asked if the house was warm enough (it was). If you haven't been to Mystic before, there is information in the house regarding places to go, things to do & restaurants. We had our daughter, her husband & their two girls (age 2 & 5) with us & there were books & toys downstairs for them which they thought was great. I appreciate a place where children are welcome. I have arthritis & the stairs were a bit steep so I slept downstairs. This is not a complaint, I am just explaining in case anyone else has trouble on stairs. It was great to have a bathroom upstairs & downstairs. We will be staying there again before winter is over, I'm sure. Gerard made us feel very welcome & he was very easy to communicate with.
