This house was super nice! It is a beautiful location! Having the golf cart is wonderful for traveling down the mountain to enjoy Lake Lure and all the amenities of the Rumbling Bald Resort. Karen was an excellent host. I highly recommend this getaway at Rumbling Bald.

We were on vacation with our grown children and their children. We all had plenty of space. We were able to all fit at the table for family meals. The covered deck and outside area was very nice. We had a few small issues and they were very quick to respond to us. The house was clean and comfortable would stay again.

This property was absolutely amazing! The location was beautiful and the house was very comfortable and clean. It was perfect for my wife, me and our three adult children and spouses to relax and enjoy time together! We even had the chance to see a couple of bears walk by the front of the property. Karen was quick to respond and communication was so simple. The guide book is wonderful!

Owner was very responsive when we needed to contact him and very friendly when he arrived to check on an issue. Cleanest, best-appointed place my family and I have rented for vacation. Thanks!

Beautiful house in a gated community . Quiet and picturesque Mountain surroundings. Nice clubhouse with friendly guests and great food just minutes away.

Greatly enjoyed our stay at this house. The most impressive thing? This place was cleaner than any home we've stayed in. Loved that. With no leaves in winter, the views were beautiful. We cooked in and the kitchen was very well stocked. Love the "sunroom" for TV watching. All communications before and during our stay were quickly responded to. The only issue we had was that one shower control wouldn't allow for a hot shower and the owner handled immediately. Very impressed with the logistics. This is a beautiful, very comfortable, home I'd highly recommend. Oh, and there was a bear in the far part of the back yard, down the hill, the second night. That was way cool! He wandered off when spotted and I didn't see him again.

Amazing! Wonderful weekend getaway with friends. Beautiful home, great decor/ furniture style, cozy, comfortable and all around one of our best experiences. We are going back again in the spring and going to make it our home away from home for years to come.

This was a beautiful, warm and cozy home. It was perfect our group. Loved having my coffee in the sunroom with the fireplace. Can’t wait to come back.

House was very clean & had just about anything that one could need. We vacationed "off season" (early Oct) and the only thing I would caution others about is to plan ahead when it comes to meals. It has nothing to do with the home or Karen -- just the area seems to roll in the sidewalks very early and many of the places are either closed down till next "season" or...they have very odd hours during the "off season". This refers to both markets and restaurants. Thank you Karen for sharing your home! It's beautiful!

If you want to spend your vacation at a beautiful and peaceful location this is the place for it.

Host was wonderful & very informative! House was well stocked and accommodating. Love the layout of this home! We love to rent a home with good beds, and this one was perfect! Everyone said their beds were comfy and thats a huge plus in out book when renting a property!! Only complaint would be the bugs & spiders! They just seemed to be really bad! But overall, really great home!!

The property is secluded. Sitting on the deck drinking tea/coffee was very relaxing. Communication with Karen was always prompt and helpful. There were many cards, board games and DVDs that both kids and adults enjoyed in the evenings. The fireplace was well used also (for smores). The ten guest passes for the resort were awesome (swimming pools, private beach, kayaking, mini golf and more). The bears were entertaining. All seven of us from ages 7 to 73 had a wonderful stay. It is a beautiful area. Thank you.

Karen's property is absolutely beautiful and was perfect for our family vacation. The home is incredibly clean and well appointed. We loved how peaceful the location was while still being convenient to all the resort amenities. The house is perfect for extended families- as there werr lots of community spaces for us to be together, while having bedrooms separated on different levels- giving some privacy when needed. Karen was absolutely wonderful and was quick to respond. We can't recommend Karen's house enough!

First, host was very responsive and great at communicating. Ran into some issues which were shared with host. 1. The grill had several pieces of used charcoal and ashes left in it before we arrived. Rules stated a fine if we leave it this way. Response from host: we are getting a new grill. Ok? 2. The steps from basement to main floor were spotty, I’m thinking a dog or pet left these spots but just not cleaned and I didn’t want my little fur babies to be blamed for this. 3. By the stone fire place, the front bench had a big break in the middle of it. It looks like it was cracked and someone tried to put the broken piece in the hole to make it unnoticeable. 4. We were awaken by 2 howling dogs at the nearby house on the hill first two mornings around 6am and one night at 1am. I’m not sure if this was a rental or a full time residents home. I know this is something a host can’t control. We did ask gate person at entrance to send someone up to talk to them. We never heard it again. 5. Burner on the stove was dirty and was the cooktop area. My mom and I took the grid covers off and scrubbed but front right burner looked stained. We got the food crumbs and dirt areas clean but I feel like this was overlooked by the cleaners. 6. My daughter said one of the remotes in the basement had something sticky on the bottom of it. 7. Plastic candy or mint wrappers were found throughout sunroom, upstairs bedrooms and closets. 8. We saw a mouse by the hot tub and it ran under the deck at the house. My husband saw it later that evening or possibly a different one. 9. There was a spill in upstairs bedroom from previous renter or occupant. Ants were found on bedside table. Also, on stairs in basement… 10. Blinds would not work in upstairs room so my mom was awaken by sunlight early each morning. 11. Dirty, used napkins were in napkin holder on island. 12. Internet and tv issues- too many to mention but did not help with our relaxation. 13. I was charged $60 for optional travel insurance. Host refunded after a couple conversations but they said it’s required but not anywhere in listing. 14. All amenities at rumbling Bald are NOT INCLUDED, as stated in listing and questioned prior to booking. 15. We liked the home and location but the 5 pages of aggressive rules were an immediate turn off. I wouldn’t return because of this alone. Host refunded half of cleaning fee but I felt the price for rental with all issues was not worth it overall.

We decided to go on spring break with our family including grandparents. The house was perfect for our group ranging from seniors to tweens. The hot tub was a welcome treat after a long day of hiking trails in the nearby national forest. We also were close enough for day trips to the Biltmore Estate. The house offered plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms for our group and everyone was able to enjoy the vacation.

Had a wonderful time with friends, Karens place was just as explain, had some small hiccups, but overall everything was great.

This outstanding property made for an exceptional family getaway//Thanksgiving. Easily accommodating a gang of seven, the location in the mountains above Lake Lure, the amenities offered at the resort, Andy the quaint, non-corporatized towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock make it a gem.

Amazing. The house is beautiful and the location is fantastic. David responded to us promptly when we had a question and Karen was also quick to get back to me when I needed information. This a perfect spot for multiple families to be together.

This property was very adequate in accommodating my eight adult family members. Plenty of room to spread out. The home was very clean. The property was a fairly steep climb up the mountain, and very far from amenities.

Seven of my close friends from college and I stayed at this lovely home in Rumbling Bald. We only went out once to try to go hiking, but Chimney Rock was so busy that we came back and just enjoyed our stay. We loved the hot tub and fire pit, and the kitchen is nicely appointed. We appreciate the owner's hospitality.

We stayed for a long fall break weekend. The roads leading to the property are no fun to drive but I guess that is to be expected in the mountains. The house was clean and exactly as advertised. My kids LOVED the hot tub, golf cart, and foosball table. Karen was very nice and made herself available if we needed anything. Almost everything is a long drive from here but there also was plenty to do at the resort if you didn’t feel like driving. We got pizza from the restaurant one night and it was great.

We had a great stay here! We booked last minute after our prior house got cancelled due to weather. This was such a lucky find. The house is beautiful and very large. We comfortably fit 6 adults and 5 kids under 5 years old. The description said one of the rooms had two twin beds in it, but they were all kings and queens. Karen was quick to respond to any questions we had and checked in on us during our stay. The resort amenities were such a great thing to have as we could enjoy nature without having to go far. I would definitely stay here again.

We spent a week here with family as we had previously been to the area and really liked it. The house is beautiful and offers a lot of space for family. No one felt like they were on top of each other. We did make meals at the house-the kitchen was very capable. There are bears in the neighborhood and they made several visits to the area. We very much enjoyed the Rumbling Bald resort. It’s an excellent place for families to spend time. The beach is amazing and the pools are great. There is a restaurant at the resort but be prepared to drive some if you do leave the resort. You are on a mountain and it takes time to get places. We brought our two small dogs and they did not find a spot to go potty outside the house as there is no grass. A larger dog may not care but for us we took our dogs down to the resort for potty breaks. The golf cart was an amazing amenity and so glad we had this. To families going there-the pool area has an air hose to fill up your blow up float toys! Super awesome to have that. We had a great experience and it was neat to check out other areas in the near vicinity. Thanks for the mountain experience, it was very unique!

Each year we take a family vacation, but the dynamics are changing as we now have 2 infants, and next year there will be 2 more. So, with 8 adults and 2 infants we need a location that works for a growing family. The house was as described, very clean, very well appointed, and since we ate most meals at home, the kitchen was well equipped, and dining space worked very well. The bedrooms were large enough to have the kids "room in" with their parents, and the communal space was very comfortable. This was also kid friendly property with child gates, porta crib, and high chair (so we only needed to bring one more). The resort amenities were just what we needed with the pools, lake, other activities. The kids enjoyed the golf cart rides around the resort and was a fun addition. The hot tub and outdoor fireplace chimney was a fun way to end the day. If you are looking for a relaxed family oriented vacation property, this is it!

The views were beautiful. The house was peaceful. We all had our own space. We loved the kitchen space and appliances. Everything was upscale and just lovely. I appreciate the option to bring the pup too.
