Had a great time! Against a snowy, wintry backdrop, this warm and well appointed cottage was very conveniently located near some awesome winter activities even for non-skiers. Our family had a blast at the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, and, thanks to a tip from Sara to make a reservation ahead of time a couple months ago, all five of us got to do tons of snow tubing runs at the organized and well-run Hawksnest Snow Tubing. We roasted marshmallows for s’mores at the cottage’s own firepit and went ice skating at the Sugar Mountain resort outdoor rink (parking and rink were literally within a 5 min drive). We were close to several restaurants (Bella’s was recommended in the cottage handbook and really hit the spot after all that snow tubing) and got everything else we needed at the Food Lion to cook and eat all our other meals at the cottage itself. The kitchen had all the cookware we needed. We did boardgames in the living room and watched deer wander through the yard from the back deck. The hosts were easily accessible and we had everything we needed for a fun vacation.

This was our second visit and it was just as wonderful as the first! The house is clean and has everything you need. The owners give great recommendations!

We enjoyed our stay over Thanksgiving. We are a family of 4. The house had all your could possibly need, except for an iron, but the kitchen was well stocked. We planned to ski however, the weather didn't cooperate. This location is minutes from the slopes and is a well maintained neighborhood. We would stay here again.

This property was perfect for our small friend group of 3. It was very clean and had what we needed. Beautiful in the fall!!

We loved our stay! Wish we could have stayed longer! Loved seeing all the wildlife especially the deer roaming the property!

This was a perfect stay for 4 adults. The setting was relaxing and private, setting in the trees with plenty of wildlife to observe. The outdoor fire pit was an added bonus. I was pleasantly surprised to find the kitchen had every utensil, dish or cooking pan i could ask for! Definitely would book again.

We had such a lovely stay at the Cool Breeze Cottage! It was everything we hoped for and more. We have not had the best luck with VRBO in the past and this experience has restored our faith in the vacation rental process. The house and experience it provided our family not only met but exceeded our expectations. It is by far the best VRBO experience we have had yet. The location was fantastic. The property was beautiful. The house was wonderfully updated, clean, and well maintained. The hosts were lovely and provided excellent recommendations that perfectly suited our family's needs. Thank you for creating such a delightful mountain getaway!

House was exactly what we needed for our trip to the GMHG.

Sara and Ted's property is one of the cleanest and best maintained that we've ever booked. The kitchen was stocked with good cooking utensils and dishes (non stick pots and pans, measuring cups, baking sheets, coffee mugs, grilling utensils, etc), not stuff on its last leg like some places. The mud room was nice for getting out of our boots and ski clothes without tracking all the crud through the house, and had enough hooks for everyone to hang hats and jackets keeping everything organized - great for those mom's and wives who are expected to keep up with the belongings of everyone in the house. Lol! They also had some board games and a variety of tv show/movie options which kept us entertained on the rainy days when we couldn't get out much. They literally thought of everything! And the location is only minutes away from everything... not even 5 minutes from tubing and ice skating, 8 minutes to the grocery store, and 15-20 minutes to Grandfather Mountain.

Thanks so much Sara. It was a wonderful house. Within minutes of skiing, tubing and skating. We had snow and the side yard was amazing for sledding. The house was clean and we even were welcomed with a fun welcome coloring pages and hot cocoa. Perfect winter get-away!

My husband and I, along with our adult daughter, had a wonderful weekend in Sugar Mountain. The cottage has the amenities of home and is in a quiet, beautiful location with close proximity to everything the High Country has to offer. We were even greeted by deer in the yard when returning from skiing. Great for a weekend or week-long stay.

The cottage was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids. Everything we needed was there and the location was perfect for our weekend of skiing at Sugar Mountain. Communication could not have been better! We were very pleased with our entire stay!

We had a wonderful time in Sara’s place! We had some issues with water in the first hours of our stay but Sara was super helpful and provided fast solution! The house has games for the kids, great deck, and a view to the Sugar Mountain. Occasionally you can even see deers walking by because the place is very peaceful. Thank you very much Sara for all the support during our stay! We’ll definitely be back soon!

Cozy but spacious cabin. Very clean and well stocked. Love the 1 bedroom and bath downstairs and other bedrooms upstairs. Super close to ski resort too. Communication was quick. Owners checked in on us and answered questions promptly. Highly recommend

Our family of four (kids 3 & 5) enjoyed Cool Breeze Cottage immensely. We were instantly impressed with the cleanliness and welcome package for our kids. The house is cozy and quaint, but plenty spacious for our family. It has all essentials needed for several overnights from a well stocked kitchen to good washer/dryer. Sara & Ted had plenty of suggestions for our family to enjoy both Sugar Mtn and Beech Mtn. The municipal sledding hill in Beech Mtn is a must for younger kids. While it was cold during our trip, the heating for the house worked great and was easy to adjust if needed. Really, everything has been considered for guest to be comfortable and entertained. We are already discussing our next trip and staying at Cool Breeze Cottage.

Our family of 4 stayed here and loved this house! The kitchen has everything you would need. The house is perfectly clean. There are air purifiers in all the rooms. The beds were very comfortable. There was ample closet space for our clothes. We loved the wrap around porch with covered spots to shield from rain and open spots to sit outside to eat with the family. There is a very nice outdoor fire pit and grill. The house is on a flat lot, making parking and getting in and out easy. It is on a quiet dead end street on Sugar Mountain, so it’s close enough to fun things to do in the area but not in a crowded location. Check in and out was easy. There is a great sized mud room with plenty of hooks to hang coats and bags. Grocery store is 8 minutes away. Other than skiing, there are restaurants, gem mining, shopping, mountain coaster and other fun things to do. Our favorite thing was axe throwing at Hero’s Axe House.

What a wonderful cabin for a weekend getaway. Comfortable and well-maintained, both cozy and spacious. It fit our group of four very nicely. We look forward to coming back in the warmer months and enjoying the outdoor space.

Just spent 4 nights with another couple at the Cool Breeze Cabin. It’s a gem…renovated; beautiful kitchen & bathrooms. Every utensil, appliance you’d need not to mention a huge wrap-around deck with an outdoor dining table (with 6 chairs), industrial-grade BBQ grill & fire pit with another 6 chairs. Very comfortable beds as well. Location is very convenient to any of the nearby towns plus local restaurants. Sara couldn’t have been a better host who was always responsive to any of our questions. And the S’mores kit awaiting us upon our arrival got our stay off to a “sweet” start! Truly a very nice touch. We couldn’t have been happier with this property nor will you should you be able to rent it! We’ve already talked about renting it again.

We loved house. Not too far up Sugar mountain, right near the club for tennis and golf and in the winter close to the chair lift. House was cozy and clean, great layout , fire pit outside, fire place inside. Bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs where the kids stayed. It was ideal for our long weekend trip and we look forward to staying here again.

The house was super cute! The owner was very nice and communicated very well. I loved being able to wake up & have coffee, sugar, & creamer already there. My only complaint was that the beds were hard.

The entire renting/booking experience with the homeowners was stress free and easy. The house was perfect for a family of 4 and in an excellent location near the ski resort. Our experience was flawless! Sara and Ted were very helpful with recommendations for skiing/snowboarding at Sugar Mountain which saved us a lot of time from standing in lines and instead, got to be on the mountain to take advantage of our long weekend stay! They were super responsive with any questions we had as well. As far as the property, we couldn't have asked for a better location. The place was decorated beautifully and was extremely cozy. We plan on coming back to Sugar Mountain and will definitely look to rebook.
