We love Lake Lure and try to go ever couple of years. This was our first stay at Wandering and it did not disappoint. The play room was awesome, and the property manager was very responsive. We had a fantastic time!

Highly recommend. Cabin was within 5 minutes to the grocery store, and 10 minutes to lake lure beach. Came equipped with everything you need for your stay. Hot tub and game room were awesome for kids. We even got to see bears multiple times here. Beautiful area and beautiful cabin.

Beautiful cabin minutes from the lake. Had issues with the AC that were not rectified leading to an earlier than scheduled departure from the property due to the temps at the time while we were there. Not the fault of the owner, but the inexperienced tech they sent out twice to try to fix the problem.

Beautiful house in a beautiful area. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the game room and the adults loved the jacuzzi. The house is close by to multiple attractions and only 15-20 minutes from Chimney Rock.
Thank you!

Very nice, clean, spacious, enjoyed the hot tub! Was glad to see a washer & dryer was available! Didn’t need it as we were only there two nights but would definitely come in handy for a longer stay. The game room downstairs was also very nice.

Nice little home. Our kids enjoyed the game room and climbing up into the loft for bedtime. The fire pit was great. The property was clean and location was close to the lake and a 10 minute drive to chimney rock. We had a great time.

We had a terrific time with all the things this cabin had to offer, and the nearby fun stuff to do. Mini golf, hiking, restaurants and pretty lake and mountain views. We really appreciated the attentiveness of the management team in providing the things we needed in a timely manner. We would definitely stay there again!

Everything was great about this place. The location was very convenient to the local town. Everything was very clean and there was plenty of supplies. Definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed this little cabin and all of its features while ringing in the new year. The downstairs has a great game room and with a hot tub and fire pit, there were a ton of options for things to do at the house.

Great fun beautiful day on the lake. Great weather and food. Wonderful views from Chimney Rock Park.

Our stay was so enjoyable. Everything about the cabin was so comforting and homey. Downstairs with the ping pong table and the hot tub was my most favorite part!

Typically, I take my kids to the beach but they wanted to try something new, so we opted for a shorter drive to Lake Lure. My kids actually picked out this cabin because they were drawn to the lofts and gaming options in the basement, as well as the hot tub. I also enjoyed the idea of these amenities since it was just me and the kids, especially in the event of some rainy weather. The cabin was actually nicer in person and more spacey than anticipated. My daughter and her friend loved having their own bathroom with direct access through the bedroom they shared. My son and I shared the other and didn't mind having to go through the kitch to our bathroom. While the kids didn't sleep in the lofts, they enjoyed climbing up and spending some time up there. The kitchen was loaded with everything we needed, which was helpful, given we immediately went to Ingles (very close by) to get groceries, as we wanted to have some meals in to curb spending. While it wasn't ideal that you had to go outside to access the basement, it ended up not being an issue at all for us. The kids (and I) loved some downtime playing ping pong, pool and shooting some hoops on the basketball game. While I didn't get in the hot tub, it was a nightly ritual for my kids who absolutely loved it. Additionally, this was the first trip we had taken our dog on, so I loved that this was a pet-friendly cabin. Great stay and I'm glad we tried something new this summer!

We enjoyed our stay, the game room in the basement was a nice bonus. One suggestion - bring flashlights and or candles as we lost power the first night and we were completely in the dark as there was not any in the cabin!

Cute, clean, roomy.

A homey, small cabin with a lovely porch and a roomy basement that had ping pong and pool tables. We didn't use the fire pit because we saw a bear in the trash on multiple occasions and were timid about being out there! Could have used firmer mattresses, softer pillows, and a full length mirror - otherwise, a nice time!

Grandkids loved the game room. Close to a lot of fun activities. Will definitely reurn.

We returned to Lake Lure 23 years after honeymooning in the area. It’s more beautiful than we remembered! Lots to do: hiking, boating, beach and more! The Wandering Inn was the perfect place to enjoy the area with its own fabulous spaces: game room, fire pit and rocking chair time on the porch. Loved every aspect of our trip!

We had a great time at the Wander Inn. The property was very clean and a great spot for our family of 6. The basement game room was very fun for our kids. The location was prefect!

We loved our stay at Wander Inn. My son loved the basement playroom and we all loved relaxing in the hot tub at night!

Cabin was perfect for what we needed. Clean other than dog hair, but it is a pet friendly house. Game room was a great bonus for the kids. Had a nice stay.

Everything was good except there was dog hair all over in the beds and found a couple bugs in the main bedroom bed and there was hair on the stove and counters. The toilets was kinda nasty like parts of them hadn’t been cleaned. There was also a lot of hair in the shower in the master bedroom. Other than that we enjoyed the pool table and ping pong n the hot tub and the location was great, close to a lot of things

I wasn't familiar with Lake Lure, I just did a search for a dog-friendly cabin around Ashville for 2 adults and 2 teens. How lucky I was to stumble on the Lake Lure area! The cabin was fantastic, one teen wasn't sure about sleeping in an open loft, but was soon won over by the idea of climbing a ladder to get to his room. The house was clean and well stocked and supplied with the necessities. The gameroom/lower level kept the boys entertained for hours and the firepit area was a nice way to end the day and enjoy the first chilly evenings. The Lake Lure area has so much to offer, even though the lake wasn't available as it had been lowered in preparation for any remains of the hurricane. There are more restaurants than we could have eaten in, golf, mini-golf, shopping, apple picking, beautiful drives, a trip into Asheville....enough to keep this family of 4 busy for the better part of the week. We will be returning to Lake Lure and The Wander Inn!

Very nice cabin. Kitchen well supplied, nice deck, enjoyed fire pit and hot tub, very clean. Great to be able to bring my dog. Only thought...bed in 2nd BR is very uncomfortable.

The driveway sloped down to the front entrance and was incredibly narrow, and the passengers in our vehicles could not exit on their sides without contacting a wall of poison-ivy laden vegetation opposite the front door. We rented this cabin because it was pet friendly, and would need to have outdoor access. The front door is the ONLY access to the house that is at level ground, and therefore the poison ivy covered area could not be avoided, especially with a dog. The cabin is built on two levels, and the entire lower floor pictured in the photos is only accessible by a flight of steep, open-stepped EXTERIOR stairs which were not able to be navigated by members of our party. This information WAS NOT included in the cabin’s description on May 30, 2022 (screen shots were taken). Since we were unable to safely navigate the front area, the only option was to walk down the flight of stairs at the rear of the cabin while carrying our dog, which was not physically feasible for us. We called management immediately to inform them that due to mobility issues and an allergy to poison ivy we would not be able to stay at this cabin. We advised them that the description did NOT mention the access to the lower level was via exterior stairs, which was acknowledged by the representative. They also informed us that they had no alternate accommodations for us, and advised that they were uncertain if they would issue a refund “due to it being the same day.” I said that we had driven over 3 hours and that we had paid in good faith for a property that was misrepresented and inaccessible to us. I was told at that point (it was after 4:30 pm on Memorial Day) that the information would be given to their Accounting Department. In the meantime, our family was forced to drive another hour and incur an additional $1300 in rental fees to find alternate accommodations. Since May 30th, I have followed up with a text message, a phone call, and an email to Mr. Lake Lure and have received no response, and we were charged for 3 nights and the pet deposit. HOWEVER, the property description has since been changed online, and now has an added clause regarding the accessibility limitations of the cabin, which further substantiates our claim of misrepresentation. We were hopeful that the company would resolve this fairly with us, but unfortunately that has not been the case. We will be following up with the NC Real Estate Commission as per the NC Vacation Rental Act.

Loft space was small and hard to access.Overall a good stay very comfortable would recommend a pull out sofa in the lower area next to the laundry room.

Wander Inn was a cozy house. Sometimes the pictures posted make the house look larger than it actually is. Only thing I can say negative about this house is that we had to go buy tips for the pool sticks, and the games were missing pieces. Also the shampoos and lotions had been used. I think it also says a hair dryer is provided but I didn't see one in the master bathroom. They could also have a few mixing bowls of different sizes. Just a few inexpensive improvements and I would give it a 5.

The cabin was clean and created the perfect platform for an amazing experience. I came to refresh and just sit with God. Perfect venue. Everyone should visit Lake Lure and stay at this cabin.

We enjoyed our week long stay at Wander Inn. Sheila, from Mr. Lake Lure Vacation Rentals, was helpful and friendly. The main floor of the cabin and the lofts are adorable and as pictured. The only recommendation we have is to advertise that you cannot access the play room from inside the cabin. You have to go outside and down a large set of stairs to get in the room. We would have felt more comfortable allowing the kids to play at night had they been able to get to the basement without going outside. Overall it was a great stay. Lake Lure is peaceful and beautiful.
