We rented both houses, we had 9 adults and a lot of kids. The main house was great but when looking at the houses online the main house shows two king rooms with their own bathrooms but not true the second room is a queen and the bathroom is outside the room. The love shack looks a whole lot bigger in pictures ( it was very very small) everything is nice and in very great shape and clean but small. But over all these house are great and the community is amazing and the manager is the best she was always there to help with anything at any moment.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was great with plenty of room to spread out and it was very well appointed. We had one small issue - needed a new light bulb and the property manager was very responsive. They texted back almost immediately. I wish we had known there was a $70/day fee to heat the hot tub...so there is not really a hot tub. We specifically rented a house with a hot tub because my husband wanted one. It may be that the hot tub can't be heated without heating the pool and we definitely didn't want the pool heated in June. One minor glitch, but not a deal breaker. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the house!

We have been vacationing in Carillon for 20 years. This was our first time staying in Rock Lobster & Love Shack. The location can’t be beat- Steps from the beach walkover! The pool is fantastic. One word of advice before booking this property, especially a large group- pay close attention to the description and photos of the common areas and sleeping arrangements. This layout is a bit different from other beach properties. (The property manager, Karen, reviewed a lot of this with me when I booked the house) Speaking of the property manager- she is great! Very prompt responses from booking the reservation and throughout our stay.

Reviewer Comments: We were a group of 10 consisting of 3 families (2 sets of 2 adults with 2 kids and another 2 adults) and rented both Rock Lobster and Love Shack. First thing we noticed upon arrival is there is no gas grill but a VERY poorly maintained charcoal grill, like the kind at public parks but worse. The pool was too cold to use and costs $60+/day to heat including the spa tub (hot tub) so we did not use it - there is a community heated pool less than 1 minute from the house, so do not book this house just for the pool. Rock Lobster is updated nicely but too odd and small for the number of guests it can accommodate - it can house 9 comfortably with the 2 king beds on the main level, 1 queen on the 2nd level, and 3 bunks in the loft. However, the den/living room is small and only can seat 5, so no gathering room with this house unless outside. Then you have Love Shack. Emphasis on Shack. It is horrendously outdated and not well maintained. Neither house was very well cleaned prior to our arrival but we requested early check in and chalked it up to the rushed arrival. Love Shack is way too small. Queen beds are squeezed in to the main level rooms and you can't even walk around the bed. The doors off the bedrooms (to the pool deck) don't lock and have an alarm on them that blare anytime the door is opened or remains open for too long if a button is not pressed. The dishwasher did not work. We all agreed we would probably never stay in the resort community after this experience, which is unfortunate since we stayed across the street 4-years prior and had such a lovely time that we came back. Not what we expected for sure.

Great property, close walk to the beach, pool, updated interior, overall a fun week at the beach

Rick Lobster was very nice. My family rented love shack which had a broken washing machine and dryer and no internet. I ended up doing all of my family’s laundry which was annoying for them and me. Neighborhood is lovely and it was great having a private pool and easy access to the beach.

This was a perfect house for two families. The location was great, right across from the beach walkover and water views from the second and third floors. The pool was so nice to come back to after a day on the beach!!! As others have said, the living/dining area was a bit small but overall the house was great and fit our needs perfectly! Will definitely stay again!

Everything was great! Short walk to the beach, pool was awesome after long day at the beach. Loved being able to do our laundry! We have been to Destin many times, even the private beaches are crowded, this beach was so quiet and nice for our 4 teenagers it was amazing!!! No complaints from us. One more amazing thing, if you have a question or issue you can call management, they answer, problem solved or questions answered. Would stay again or recommend!!

Very happy staying at Rock Lobster and Love Shack!! With having small children, we really enjoyed the pool between the two properties. Great overall experience!

This place is clean, immaculate and well decorated. It is also, literally, right across from the beach access. This is the least populated section of the beach, so it’s the closest thing to how the beaches down there used to be. The house sleeps 13 easily and comfortably. The only thing that wasn’t clear is that you share the pool and hot tub with anyone who stays in the coach house named “Love Shack.” So if you want to book a large family gathering book “Rock Lobster” (this property) and “Love Shack” (the carriage house). Overall, jewel of a property, great location. Close to Publix and Winn-Dixie (grocery stores) and Wal-Greens. Highly recommend.

Perfect beach home!!! Decorated beautifully, had everything you could possibly need, comfortable beds, you name it! Very safe location. One minute walk to the most beautiful beach ever! Will visit Rock Lobster again for sure.

We had such a great stay at Rock Lobster! It was only a few steps to the beach, and the house was beautifully designed. We absolutely loved the balconies and all of the seating. We would definitely like to return next summer!

Our party of 10 included people ages 7 to 75 and we all agreed Rock Lobster was perfect for our vacation! We have been visiting Pinnacle Port (condos that share entrance with Carillon) for 40+ years and this is the first time our family chose to stay in Carillon Beach. One reason we hesitated to make the change is beach access. Rock Lobster was no problem there! It is directly across from the beach walkover, which made it convenient for my parents and young children. This home is gorgeous! The overall design is beautiful and it is meticulously decorated. Just hanging at the house on a few rainy days still felt like a treat. We spent a lot of time playing games and visiting on the expansive deck. We all loved the private pool, which is so refreshing after a day at the beach. The main living area is a touch smaller than expected, but it didn't bother our crew. There is plenty of space on the decks and at the pool. No need to sit inside when you're in paradise! If you have tall older kids/teens, the sleeper sofa in the loft area is a bit of a tight squeeze. They were fine in the bunk/loft beds, though. The littles will have no problem on the sleeper sofa. Overall, we highly recommend Rock Lobster. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful home and very well decorated. We really enjoyed our stay here. Only complaint I have is the bedroom on the second floor was advertised as having a king sized bed but upon arrival the bed was a queen.

Better than average house

Had a great time @ Carillon Beach #RockLobster. House was well decorated and proximity to the beach was a plus. At this time of the year, would have liked the heated pool to be included, but otherwise very happy!!!! Plan to return to the area again in the future........

Rock Lobster is a beautiful house inside and out. It was clean when we arrived and was newly renovated. My family of 10 enjoyed our stay and would like to go back next summer. The pool is very nice and the water temperature felt so good on a hot day. The beach is right across the way from the house with an easy access to walk over. LeAnn was very kind and is sending a forgotten pillow to my niece. The only complaint was the internet service but that was out of the owner's control. The house is in a beautiful community and there were no crowds!

We have rented houses in Carillon for the past thirteen years and this house (according to the grandkids) was awesome!! The owners became friends, the kitchen was beautiful and eating on the porch gave us plenty of room and great views. All the updates that the owners made to the house was creative and functional. The pool was a great place for the kids to swim at night and the house was right across the street from one of the walkovers to the beach. Thank You LeAnn and Greg for sharing your house - we will be back!

This house was immaculate. So neat, clean and tidy. We felt as if we were at home. This was the most relaxing vacation we've had in 20 years. The beds had quality bedding materials and were so comfortable. The furniture was adorable. There was no expense spared on the quality of updates on this home. Everyone had their own space and the outside porch areas were wonderful to use while eating, relaxing and reading. All of us enjoyed the pool/hot tub area while there. We loved having our own pool to use. It had a great sense of security being in the gated community and the kids loved being able to ride their bicycles around the community. Having our own private beach and beach chairs/umbrellas was unbelievable. We LOVED this property. Thank you!!!

WOW!! Words truly can't describe how perfect this home was for our first family vacation. We have never stayed in such a luxurious home surrounded by such a beautiful setting. Every room is straight out of a magazine! Our kids enjoyed hanging out at "home" and swimming in the private pool far more than the beach and public pools! The house is truly the vacation. Aside from that, the beach is beautiful with private chairs just for you and the picturesque setting to take walks through the community, grab a bite to eat, or swim in a pool overlooking the beach is truly amazing! My only regret was having to leave! We loved it...to say the least. We dream of coming back again and highly, HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who can appreciate the finer things in life.

We enjoyed our time at Rock Lobster! First time stayers in Carillon, and really enjoyed the area. The Location of this house is completely worth it! We went with our 3 year old and it was wonderful. No lugging all of your stuff to the beach. We didn't even have to wear shoes to walk there. You walk10 steps across the street to the pavilion and then 30 steps off the pavilion and the beach chairs are right there. The home itself is finished wonderfully! Kitchen has nice new appliances that all work great. Also a blender. Plenty of room on the first floor to unload and store your beach gear which keeps the sand debris to a minimum on the 3rd and 4th floors. Bathrooms are all nice and clean with wonderful water pressure after a long day on the beach! We also enjoyed having the private pool and hot tub right there. Was great for adults with kids that nap, so we didn't feel trapped inside half the day! The owner was very accessible and answered the few questions we did have promptly. Overall a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend this house to friends and family and would stay again!
