We were celebrating two graduations for our two of our daughters. One graduated from Clemson and one graduated from High School- she also was celebrating her 18th birthday! It was a great mini vacation. The property is beautiful, very clean and has everything anyone could need. The owner was super friendly and checked in to see if we needed anything. Seriously planning on returning!

We had a much needed weekend get away. The cottage was perfect and host were amazing. Every thing you need to enjoy your trip even if it is raining all weekend. They have a beautiful garden on site to venture around in. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I were going to visit my son and his family to celebrate birthdays and get a change of scenery and did we ever pick the perfect place. This house is like no other I have ever rented. Super clean and well furnished. Something for all ages to enjoy. Couldn’t see much water and my husband is recovering from a stroke so we couldn’t t go to the dock. My Son said that It was very nice. The deck is very nice and roomy. Be there at dark for a special surprise. Take the garden tour or just walk around. Don’t worry about the huge cat ;that’s just Headley and he is very sweet and loves kids and Adults. If you want the best, stay here. You won’t regret it. Doug ,the host , is awesome and has it all set up when you arrive and then gives you your privacy unless you need to have him come over for something. We will definitely be back. Thank you Mr. Doug.

This is the second time my family has stayed here. It has the most beautiful views. The host are always so welcoming & make sure we have everything we need. The house is extremely clean and so big! We have generations of family for the trip, but with both stories everyone has space to do their own thing. I can’t wait to book with Doug again, thank you!!

Our stay was fabulous! The hosts were very gracious and have thought of every little detail at the house. The house is comfortable and clean. The gardens are beautiful. The dock it such a nice set up if you bring your boat! We will definitely be back!

My husband and our 4 sons were utterly delighted with our stay at this beautiful lake house. Doug was accommodating from the second we booked until after checkout. If we had any questions he was happy to answer. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. Although we ended up sleeping the family most nights on the blow up mattress in the basement. It was a little chilly down there (I think we did go through a cold front though). We loved the fire place, and it was very easy to start, just grab a couple twigs to get it going. One of our favorites about the house was the "fireflies!"(The green spot lights in the trees at night) those were great!! The lake was absolutely beautiful, we just wish it could have been a bit warmer for swimming. Our teenager went out on one of the kayaks and came back with the most excitement saying that he saw "a huge hairy monkey man" haha. My boys also enjoyed being visited by the neighborhood dog, who came to say hi two times..Just make sure you keep the doors down stairs shut because he will try to come in, he is friendly. We used the outside grill daily and it worked just fine. The pool table was a huge hit for us, we taught the kids to play. I especially loved the Broke Back Mountain photography I'm a huge Heath Ledger fan. The house is decorated beautifully and I recommend this place to anyone and everyone who will enjoy the beauty of Hartwell lake and Doug's house. Thank you so much

House was what we expected. Very Clean and great location.

The property was very clean, quiet and exactly as portrait on the site. The owners communicated before, during and directly after the stay with me, which I absolutely loved! In addition, all the little details and complimentary items, such as soap, shavers, seasoning, coffee that were there when we arrived were so thoughtful. Most of all, there was a bottle of wine, candy and a note on the desk welcoming us to our retreat. We never stayed in any rental feeling so welcomed!!! We certainly will be back.

Our stay at the lakeside cottage was the BEST! Comfortable, welcoming, clean, and a pleasant stay all around. We traveled from MA to visit with my daughter and her family and were very pleased with the house accommodations, lovely flowers to greet us, and the owners were a pleasure to deal with from start to our departure. We were in for a family reunion and it was great to come back and relax. The grounds are very lush and the dock is very nice. It was quiet and private and the beds were very comfortable.

We loved our time here. The cottage is beautiful, the dock was perfect. We had everything we needed and hope to return.

We met our family with our fur babies at this home on Lake Hartwell. The property was immaculate, and we arrived to find a box of cookies and bottle of wine to greet us. The property owners live next door to this property, but were unobtrusive and very nice. Douglas came over during our stay to bring us goodies from his favorite local produce stand. We loved the pool table in the basement as well as the covered dock. There was a canoe and other water toys available. We had a wonderful vacation and plan to return.

We enjoyed our stay at this relaxing and peaceful retreat. The home was lovely but the real treasure was the boat dock complete with a table, umbrella and chairs to enjoy the water and the view. Communicating with the host was very easy and he was so responsive to us! We plan to stay here again.

Property is beautiful and clean. The dock and boat slip were perfect for my 21' bass boat. Power and lights were extremely helpful. The host, Doug was very friendly and welcoming. We will stay there again for sure!

From the driveway to the inside of the house was great! The cabin was great! All you need is your clothes and snacks/food and you’re set for a great stay!! 2 nights was not long enough for us! It was kid friendly and that’s what I love so my 3 BOYSwant mess up anything! My husband loved the fishing of course(didn’t even get a nibble) he stated it can’t be fish in the lake… I just said you gotta find them my love:) my boys loved the kayaks and canoes!! Thanks Mr. Moore for the upkeep of your cabin!!!! We definitely recommend!

Firstly, the house is spotless and has everything you could possibly need (i.e. beach towels, laundry soap, fire wood)--just bring the groceries! We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday, and the house was perfect--so cozy with lots of thoughtful touches. Our kids had a nightly slumber party on the lower level with the pool table, huge TV, and wet bar, and my teenager spent the week playing DJ with the extensive CD collection. (There's nothing like vintage Willie Nelson with a glass of wine in front of a roaring fire place on a winter's evening!) The gardens are truly special, and even though is was a bit chilly, we found ourselves enjoying our coffee in the sweet garden house and drinking in the splendor of autumn in North Georgia. And the lake! We were eager to use the canoe and kayak that were moored on the dock (lovely, calm water made for an easy and enjoyable paddle), and my kids (and husband, too, I'm afraid!) all took a polar plunge (or ten) in the lake (much to the astonishment of the neighbors!). Doug and Robert take the prize for the most gracious hosts on the planet. Communication was friendly and efficient, and it was clear that our comfort (and dare I say joy?) was their top priority. From the minute we arrived, our kids started asking, "Can we live here?" Alas, we cannot...but we can (and will) certainly return again this summer! So sad that we had to leave today - a weekend was not enough time to enjoy this beautiful lake retreat! Doug and Robert have created this beautiful “cottage” (as they call it - it is spacious with 3BR and 3BA!) on the lake with a gorgeous landscape. We were met with a bottle of wine and cookies to relax us from our 6 hour drive (an hour and a half worth of traffic along the way made our normal 4-1/2 hour drive that much longer). There is a pool table downstairs that provided hours of entertainment for us to enjoy when we brought our college freshman and two of his friends back to stay with us after a great football game. We built a roaring fire Saturday night to end a perfect chilly day. There is an herb garden, from which they invite you to pick if you are cooking. There is a dock with canoes and for you to bring a boat if you choose. And Sunday, before we left, Doug came to meet us…we chatted for a bit and let him know we would be back! The check-in process was not only smooth, but very friendly and hospitable - more like staying with a friend than renting a house. Plenty to do around and halfway between Clemson and Athens if you are Tigers or Dawgs! (We are a house divided, so we have now found the perfect college game day getaway!)
