The cabin was great for a weekend getaway! Very convenient location, just a quick drive to downtown and area hikes. The cabin was clean and comfy and we would definitely return!

We were in Higlands for a wedding. The location and comfort of the home was perfect. Just mildew odor in the ground floor. We emptied the dehumidifier daily but it didn’t seem to help. Thx!

We had a great stay at this adorable cozy cottage! The location was perfect, tucked in a really cute neighborhood. Designer touches throughout! We had a great visit - would definitely rent again!

We had a fabulous trip staying at this precious updated cottage. We had five of us staying, and this house was very comfortable. We loved hanging out on the screen porch and by the fire pit. It was so nice to have several different outdoor areas and well as the beautiful living room, so we could spread out. The location was fabulous - minutes from downtown Highlands by car. I would stay here again!

Adorable cottage in great location off the beaten path. Home was adorable, nicely furnished, clean, comfy bedding, easy check-in/access. Bathrooms disappointed - loose fixtures, strong musty smell in upstairs bathroom & powder room, dated main shower, lower shower / tub shower head not secure & sprayed on wall. Overall, pleased except for bathrooms.

We had a wonderful time during our stay! We enjoyed the firepit and did a lot of walking around the neighborhood. We saw black bears and a red fox on our walk. The home is very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked.

I had high expectations for this cute home. Those expectations were not met. The house was not clean. Pet hair everywhere…floors, beds, nightstands, couches. There was sticky stuff on countertops and nasty bath mats that had not been washed. The fire pit was unusable due to being covered with debris and limbs. The owners were kind and responsive, but the property was unacceptable for what we paid to stay. Very disappointed.

The property was close to the Highlands downtown area and had good streets for walking pets. It had all amenities needed for cooking and your stay. We appreciated the abundance of already cut firewood to make the cold days nice and toasty.

This quaint cabin is nestled very closely to downtown Highlands which made it very convenient. Our favorite place was the living room with the fireplace. It is pretty outdated and really needs an overall deep clean, so many cobwebs, trash under beds and nightstands (empty bottles & toys), stained pillows (upholstery needs cleaned). The downstairs bedroom with extremely narrow stairs is very cold even with the heater. I would say the downstairs was a definite after thought thrown together with a toilet sitting very low to the ground, perfect for a toddler. However, cute tub, but too cold to take a bath or shower. It would help to have a book about the place because vrbo app didn't work well, i.e., pilot light. The owner was very easy to deal with as I shared my concerns. In all fairness, it was a perfect location for us just hope some updates and cleanliness needs more attention for future visitors. It was very cute on the outside and the view was beautiful.

Moldy musty basement master bedroom with bathroom sink that doesn't work. Back porch gas fireplace that doesn't work - owner response, "Read the manual." Unmade bed on arrival and no sheets - owner response, "Which one?" Bad smelling half bath at front door. Front door electronic lock works intermittently - good luck!

Overall we had a good stay at the cabin. The fire place inside and outside were great. The beds are very comfortable and they have basically everything you could need. Cool little cabin.

We enjoyed our weekend stay in Mirror Lake. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and convenient to both Highlands and Cashiers. In addition to all the usual area activities, we enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch and making s’mores at the fire pit (plenty of firewood). The owner was super helpful and responsive. We would definitely stay here again.

Communication was bad with the rental people. I ended up calling the owner, who was very nice. He gave us the information we needed.

Our family of 4 had the best time staying at this cabin. It gets 5 stars for location (close to downtown, hiking, and activities), decor (inside and outside is adorable), and the outside firepit (our absolute favorite thing about the home). It is like a secret garden on the side of the house. So beautiful. Our kids loved running the little paths around the house while we sat by the fire. Owner was fast to respond for questions and feedback. Would only give this a 4 star overall as it didn't look like the cleaning crew had done the most thorough job and it needs some basic maintenance. Also the setup of the master bedroom in the basement was a little quirky. The stairs are very tight/narrow. You have to listen to a humidifier running through the night. Bathroom was rather dark/not a lot of outlets so not the most comfortable to getting ready in. We ended up just using the extra bedroom/bathroom upstairs next to the kids bunk room and it worked great. But we would still rent this house again when returning to the Highlands.

My family of 4 enjoyed our short stay at this mirror lake property. The house was quaint and cozy. The sofas and chairs we’re comfortable as were the beds. The kitchen had everything you would need for a short stay. The house was clean and exactly as pictured on the listing. I do wish there were more games for families to play. Also a few of the sliding doors were broken as was the screen on the back porch. We love the area and the local neighbors who are residents of the area were very kind.

Clean and cozy home with great proximity to downtown Highlands and local waterfalls. Make sure you use Chowan Road for access because the drive to the home is much easier! We had four adults comfortably and enjoyed the common space as well as the perfectly separated Downstairs primary bedroom and bath. Thank you for sharing your great home with us!

This was one of those special gems. The plumbling in the bathroom had no pipes, the oven door came off in my hand, it is not child safe or handicap accessible, but it was a beautiful home, would I go back? Sure enough, but not with live humans. I kept imagining a long life in this place, but the downstairs is treacherous. And no one could visit me. The sunken living room in particular was too too much for anyone. I loved this place, but was scared every day I would fall. Indoors and out.
