We've stayed at a lot of places in Pine/Strawberry, but this was, by far, our favorite. Susan is the most amazing host and super accommodating. Beds were comfortable, great views from the deck, life-size scrabble board, shuffleboard...this place has it ALL!!

At first me and my friends were slightly disappointed as we really wanted to have a campfire outside but due to the time of year we were not able to do this. However, the property and view were absolutely spectacular and we were able to have a phenomenal time. The towns of Pine and Strawberry is definitely my favorite area of Arizona and this property has been one of my favorites to stay at. Highly recommended.

The views alone make this a must stay. But the thoughtfulness the hosts put into stocking the cabin really separate this from anything else you could find for the price. It’s so comfortable, well-appointed, and welcoming that you won’t want to leave. In fact, we decided to stay an extra day/ night! Susan is ridiculously responsive and considerate! Beautiful location with many elk and deer sightings, gorgeous sunsets and snow still dusting the landscape- it was a picture postcard of a mountain getaway! Close to restaurants, wine tasting, provisions for meals, etc. Don’t miss the PieBar!

We had a fantastic time at this cabin! The best experience we’ve had so far with weekend retreats. The cabin is beautiful, clean, and the views are gorgeous. Suzan is very nice and accommodating. We will definitely be back, no doubt! Thanks for sharing this beautiful place with us.

We had the most amazing stay here with our pups! We are huge “view” people and this place was an 11/10 for the views—just beautiful all around the cabin. The place was very dog friendly and our pups had the best time. Susan was wonderful-very helpful and accommodating. We can’t wait to come back and stay!

This is our 5th of 6th stay at The Golden Elk and we love it every time! It’s a home away from home. This visit we brought my mother in law and yeah she’s hooked! She wants to go again!

Susan has a beautiful cabin in a panoramic setting. The sunsets were stunning. The small towns of Strawberry and Pine were fun to explore. Lots of nearby hiking trails. It was nice to be able to bring our dog too!

The views from this cabin are spectacular. The pictures on the site are the reason we rented this home, and they did not disappoint! Such a beautiful view of the valley and many changing leaves. The beds were really comfortable with wonderful linens! The kitchen, well-appointed and lovely! Our group consisted of guests in their 70s and 80s and all the steps were a lot especially at the altitude of the cabin. Overall, a truly magical experience!

The location, views, and fresh air is everything you could hope for. This property is fantastic!

Golden Elk is absolutely wonderful! The house is decorated in a very warm and inviting manor and the layout is perfect for those traveling with family and/or kids. The cabin is so cute and cozy yet has so much room for everyone! The patios and views are incredible and we were pleasantly surprised to see there’s even a little greenery area for dogs/kids to run around! Susan was a gracious and lovely host and extremely responsive! We loved our stay and can’t wait to return!!

This property is the perfect getaway. The house is the best equipped vacation rental ever. It’s also one of the cleanest. The views are peaceful and vast. We just loved our stay. Susan is a wonderful host. She’s an excellent communicator. We never left the house all weekend. Don’t even consider if you can’t do stairs. We’ll definitely rent again.

This was our second time staying here. We love the house - spacious, close to a lot of things, fun for all with the 2 game rooms, and we love the decks. We have already recommended it to several friends. The owner is very responsive as well.

We had a great stay and always enjoy running away to Strawberry any chance we get. The kiddos loved the scrabble board ❤️The layout of the home is perfect if you have older kids that want to “get away” from their parents for a bit. 🤣😂

We had a wonderful time in Strawberry and one of the things that made it great was staying at the Elk Lodge. Susan your place is wonderful, lots of things to do, play games, relax on one of the two decks the views are amazing . The beds are very comfortable. I have already told many people about your cabin 😊 Thank you for responding to us when we had questions in a timely manner. We can't wait to come back.

Susan was great to work with. She was very quick to respond. This cabin was so beautiful and cleanest we have ever stayed at. It was peaceful (only had one neighbor who kept yelling but it was on last night) and relaxing. We decided at last minute to rent the property so we cpuld get out of heat when our son came to town. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. Definitely saving this property for the future. If you stay here I definitely recommend you try PieBar.. was delicious..

We were looking to escape the heat of Phoenix and spent a long weekend enjoying the cooler weather, the peaceful area, the elk that were literally right off of the deck in the backyard. The house is beautifully decorated inside and has everything you need to enjoy a getaway. We had a great time in the game room. Love the wall mounted scrabble game so much! We definitely recommend this beautiful spot.

The home was so warm and welcoming with a fantastic view. Loved all the fun games and star gazing. Loved it.

Everything was perfect for my short stay at the cabin. Very quiet, just the chirping of crickets and beautiful starry sky at night. It will definitely be a repeat visit.

This is the third time we have stayed at golden elk and as usual it was fantastic. Susan is a wonderful and gracious host. Her communication is fantastic and the decks of her house are so peaceful. Love being able to have a drink of coffee or glass of wine out on the deck. We will continue to return as this has become our go to place to stay in strawberry. Thank you Susan!!

Had a nice time with our family at the Golden Elk. Very spacious home with fun activities both in the home and surrounding area.

First of all - this cabin was beautiful, and the views from the balcony were even better! I admit I searched this property on Zillow and the owners did an amazing remodel on this home. Very nice and comfy furniture throughout, lots of beautiful decor (and I'm a home decor addict). I could tell there was a lot of thought put into getting this place together. The host left a very detailed binder with not only details about the cabin, but information about the area and things to do around there. We saw lots of wildlife (elk, javelinas, even a fuzzy tarantula!) and spent the majority of our stay outside on the balcony enjoying the view or in the garage shooting pool and throwing darts. The garage door opens up to show the beautiful view as you play and it's just breathtaking. The pool table is custom - made out of an older model Mustang GT! We enjoyed every moment of our stay here, and our 8-year-old learned to play shuffleboard, shoot pool, and throw darts. This is a place for entertainment, the perfect hangout spot! We even brought our fur babies along and they loved it as well, even they would sit on the balcony and just stare, seemingly enjoying the beautiful views. The Golden Elk was the perfect place for our family getaway - we're already thinking about staying again and we just left two days ago!

This was the 2nd time we have stayed here. We love this home and it allowed for a super peaceful reset of a weekend. Watched the elk, sat on the decks, drank wine, took naps and just sucked in the peacefulness of Strawberry. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Lovely cabin that feels like home away from home. Comfortable and well appointed from technology, games and great kitchen for cooking. Reading on the patio while taking in the views was a special treat.

We had a wonderful time. The home was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Everything was as described and it had great amenities. Susan was great and so was her home! We would definitely stay again.

The cabin exceeded our expectations! The pool table in the garage made into a GTO was the coolest! My daughter saw, fed and kissed an elk - which was the reason we selected THIS cabin. We had a fantastic time and will be back before summer ends!

We were fortunate to have the amazing hosts call us last week to tell us they had a last minute opening. we jumped at it since our experience last year was amazing. This trip did not disappoint. warm environment, beautiful furnishings and views and an amazing kitchen with every utensil ever needed! We hiked, barbqued, watched tv, enjoy wine and other spirits (!) and relaxed!!I recommend this property for couples and families. The owners are wonderful property 'managers,' and always available. enjoy friends!!!

We loved our stay in Strawberry! The cabin overlooks a valley and has amazing views! It is well appointed and clean. We absolutely loved the shuffleboard, giant scrabble board and outdoor fire table. Would visit again!
