For us, this was a little piece of heaven. The house was beautiful, spacious, and clean. It had everything we needed as far as cooking utensils, pots and pans, and towels and wash cloths. The location was nice and quiet, about 10-15 minutes away from restaurants, a gas station, and the Lake Anna State Park. The dock was very nice! The boat traffic on the water was very respectful and friendly. The views from the house and the dock were beautiful and the catfish were biting all day and night! We hope to stay again next year!

Perfect getaway for family of 4
Cal was great at communicating with me and I had all of the information needed for our stay. The cottage was very accommodating and clean & comfortable. We have 2 young children and it was perfect. The cottage looked exactly like the pictures and was well
stocked. My kids loved running around the grass in the back yard which was very spacious. The view of the lake was great and we had a lot of fun in the evenings by the fire pit. Cal even provided sticks and marshmellows. We would definitely stay again in the future!

The house was clean, cute and well-equipped. The property is unbeatable, with the little private beach, the docks, the VIEWS and the huge yard. We enjoyed every bit of it. The host was great and easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay here again!

Amazing every time
This is the 3rd time we’ve stayed at Call’s properties in the last year. It is a perfect, relaxing, socially-distant location for a family vacation. The houses are wonderful and comfortable. Cal is very responsive to any issues that come up. Will definitely come back for a 4th time :)

The house was great for our small group of 5 to get away for a few days in the winter. The property manager was very reachable by text. We had an issue with slow internet but they got taken care of the following afternoon to make it usable (still not fast but could handle some video calls). The back 3rd bedroom does not have interior or exterior blinds. The house is not near anything besides the lake and some other houses (which is not bad just a comment) but it worked fine. Keurig provided with K cups for coffee. The rear firepit with wood was nice for an evening fire.

Wonderful girls getaway! The house was perfect and the owner was so nice and accommodating. The wine and marshmallows were an unexpected and great touch. Only wish it was a real fireplace. Other than that it was perfect for us.

Great time!
We only stayed for two nights, but it was awesome to get away from the renovations in our house and spend Christmas cooking and eating with the family. The house was very clean and comfortable and the view was great. The kitchen was fully equipped and got a lot of use from us! The fire pit is really nice so we had to do a fire despite the 24 degree temperature outside. We would definitely come back! The property manager was great and responsive during check in and the check out instructions where clear. Could not have asked for a better stay!

Beautiful fall stay
Absolutely loved the location and the amenities. We were comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy a full Thanksgiving dinner and a weekend of relaxing by the firepit and kayaking around the lake!

We had an excellent friends/couples trip here. The host was incredibly helpful and very easy to reach. The house is beautiful and comfortable and we enjoyed the gorgeous views of the lake. Kitchen was the best stocked of any rental I’ve ever been in.

Great local getaway
Nice home, perfect size for our family. Sheets were provided. Many normal household products were included to include soap, washer/dryer and kitchen supplies. Enjoyed the beach and the firepit. Owner was responsive to questions via texts.

Nice and beautiful escape
Beautiful location. From a firepit to a perfect view of the lake. When we arrived, we were received with wine from the area and marshmallows. At one point, we couldn't find a lighter for the bonfire and the owner brought one for us in 10 minutes. We also got brand new sheets which gave us extra comfort. Would recommend this place to anyone.

A great pandemic getaway
Whippoorwill Cottage is a lovely house right on Lake Anna. It’s nice appointed inside, very clean, and served as a perfect location for a pandemic staycation. The location right on Lake Anna along with the small beach and kayaks allowed us to be completely remote and still able to enjoy the lake. Cal was very responsive and helpful and the bottle of local wine and marshmallows and roasting sticks added a perfect touch of hospitality. We highly recommend this house as a vacation destination.

We love this property!
This is our 2nd time staying here (last time at the other cottage) and we love this whole property so much. Cal is so easy to work w/ and the property is always comfortable and clean.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was comfortable for two families, and had everything we needed to stay entertained all day. Cal made us feel very welcome, and prepared the house beautifully. We brought our own pop up shade for the beach, which was important for the little kids. We’ll be back!

Absolutely wonderful stay! Cozy, clean home right on the water. Private, shallow beach was great fun, and we really enjoyed the provided kayaks. Gorgeous views, and the fire pit was fun. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our time at the Whippoorwill cottage. The property is right on the water, with beautiful views from the deck. The cottage itself is very clean and tidy, with stylish decor and well-stocked kitchen. There is a small private beach that is perfect for children - our kids absolutely loved it. Adults might enjoy canoeing on the lake or other water activities (there is a dock right next to the house). Cal was a wonderful host - great and timely communication, clear instructions, very warm and hospitable. We are already thinking of when we can return for a longer stay.

We are in love with this cottage and Lake Anna. We can't wait to come back. Cottage has everything you need and great extras like kayaks a checkers/chess/ card table and games. The views are spectacular and the private beach is ideal.

Great accommodations, picturesque location right on the lake and convenient to the wonderful Lake Anna State Park. We loved our stay here. Whether swimming in lovely Lake Anna or taking the kayaks for a paddle, this place was the perfect spot for our family to unwind. The house was super clean and had everything we needed, well-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer and spacious deck, where we spent a lot of time. Cal was super responsive when we had questions or needed information. The firepit in the back by the lake and the private beach were the icing on the cake. Thanks Cal!

My family really enjoyed our stay. Cal was responsive and helpful both before and during our stay. My kids loved swimming in the lake from the private beach area and we enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and roasting marshmallows. We look forward to going back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. Especially in this pandemic time, it was nice to have all the activities available right outside the front door - kayaks, private beach area, lake, docks, fire pit, bird watching. The warm lake water also helps! It was cloudy and 70 degrees during our stay but the warm water kept us in the lake for hours. Lovely Cottage, we will be back!

This was a great property for our family. The kids loved having the beach entry to the lake and all the games in the game room. I loved having the kayaks for peaceful times out on the lake. The house was really clean and well equipped with everything we wanted in the kitchen. The owner is also extremely nice to work with and very responsive to questions.

Our family of 4 had a great time at this property! The home was cute, clean and homey! We found it to be stocked well, with everything we needed. The beach is where we spent most of our time, but the entire outdoor area is beautiful. There is a great view almost every direction you look! The owner was great to work with and really treated us as his guests. He even made us feel reassured about the cleanliness of the house and our safety during these uncertain times. We were able to recharge our batteries and forget about life for a while. Thank you! We will be back!
