The place was nice but the bed downstairs was uncomfortable and there was no place on the main level to hang out.

Myself and the friend traveling with me are in our mid-to-late ‘70’s. From the pictures and the description of this property it appeared clean and bright and the location was great, with two bedrooms. However, on arrival, we discovered that the “master” bedroom had no bath and that the only bath was up two flights of difficult stairs. And the second bedroom, which we also intended to use, was up a metal spiral staircase that was very narrow. It turned out the bathroom was located on the middle floor, above and below either bedroom, and for persons of our age and health, where getting up multiple times during the night was necessary, the stairs were very difficult for both of us to climb. After fully understanding the layout, we opted NOT to stay even one night at the property and returned to Anchorage, our homebase and my home town. I requested a return on half of the room deposit (we had reserved two nights in Talkeetna), stating that the property was not well described and the pictures misleading as to the location of the only bath. The owner declined to return half of the deposit, claiming the property was adequately described on the website. I disagree. Worse, even after we had communicated with the owner/manager that we were not staying even one night, I continued to get emails each day expressing the hope that I was enjoying the visit! Those wishes may be computer generated but given our situation, I found those emails very irritating. Not a good experience. RPB

Cabin was clean and kitchen was very well stocked. All of the sleeping areas were comfortable and the laundry machines were great. Talkeetna is a cute town on the weekends, but seemed to slow down a bit on weekdays (even mid-July). As we were leaving on a Tuesday, there was a sign in a restaurant downtown that said "sold out, see you friday". We thoroughly enjoyed the Hurricane Train that runs on Thurs - Mon afternoons. Teens hiked in Denali State Park (trailhead about an hour away).

Location was excellent, just a short 5 min walk through the woods (and saw a moose and baby moose one time!) to town and airport across the road. Clean, nicely stocked kitchen and good quality linens. As mentioned, there are steps from bedrooms to bathroom but wasn't a problem for our family. And the kids loved the electric bug hand zapper - definitely helped with mosquitoes that snuck it with us.

A perfect little spot to stay a few nights. The place is decorated very nicely and suitable for visitors.

Nice spot, close to town meant we could leave the car parked, walk around and explore. Well-equipped kitchen for cooking in.

Beautiful kitchen with much thought to appliances and fixtures. Beautiful long table allowed us to gather and play games . The awkward layout made it difficult to gather anywhere besides the table . The lack of end tables created a challenge with being able to drink/eat anywhere besides the table . The walk to town was close and enjoyable .

Place is as described. It was clean and roomy. It takes getting used having to go up or downstairs to the bathroom after going to bed, but that's a small thing. Kitchen has great gas appliances, no toaster, though. Overall, a very comfortable place to stay. The host, however, didn't send check-in instructions as expected on the morning of our initial check in. Because we were touring, we didn't get to the property until 12:30 that night. With no check-in instructions, we were locked out. We contacted the host, through the VRBO website to get instructions. He sent a code for the keypad, but it was the wrong code. Tried calling the host but got no answer. Contacted VRBO customer service who advised us to check into a hotel and we would be compensated; the problem is that there are no hotels in Talkeetna, so we would have to drive at least an hour to find one. All this is happening at 12:30 AM in the middle of the night in semi-rural Alaska. Finally, after 3 attempts to contact the host, we finally get the correct code to let us in at about 1:00 AM. At 1:49 AM, the host sends the check in instructions. Not an easy check in or good experience. In fairness, after that the host was quick to respond to correspondence.

This is a great little cabin walking distance to downtown Talkeetna. The space was clean and had exquisite appliances! We definitely recommend this vacation rental if you are comfortable with steps. Thank you.

Big things: very comfortable beds, plenty of space, lovely shower pressure, and amazing kitchen. We found everything we needed to cook for our family of five. Ample plates, cutlery, glasses, and mugs. The decorations are very spartan for the bedrooms (no bedside tables), but that is part of the minimalistic appeal of the decor. There is only one hook for towels in the one bathroom, so we improvised by using hangers from the master closet. It might be a good idea to put hooks under the bathroom shelves? Whatever the case, everything in the vrbo description matched. A picture of the entire front of the place might help, because it adds to the fun nature of the place. Thanks for the amazing stay!

We are a family of five (all adults) traveling to talkeetna to see Denali, hike and fish. While our flight seeing and fishing were cancelled due to weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in talkeetna. This cabin was clean and fit our family’s needs well. Modern appliances and comfortable bedding. We had an issue with the microwave/fridge and sent a message to Trent, who immediately got back to me to help resolve. There is also a caretaker in the front cabin, who checked in with us to let us know she was available if we had any issues. The K2 airstrip and boat launches are a very short distance from the cabin. The restaurants and shops in talkeetna are also a very short drive away.

Everything was perfect and the property is perfect!

This is a comfortable cabin decorated in a cool, unique manner. The upstairs loft bed was very cozy, and the pull-out sofa was comfortable. Keep in mind that the bathroom is on the middle floor, beds are on lower and upper floors. This was not a problem for us, but could be for someone with mobility challenges. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking for a family. Trent was very responsive to all of my minor questions. Thank you!

We truly enjoyed this spot. Quiet neighborhood walking distance to downtown. Place was uniquely decorated and comfortable. Communication with host was top notch!

We had the best stay here. For families and groups that like cooking this was an awesome kitchen to get to use and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept on. Actually, if the property manager sees this. I’d love to know what brand it is haha. Thanks for a great weekend in a beautiful cabin!

We enjoyed our stay at the Brother Bear Lodge. The interior has been newly renovated. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. The only issue we found was that the only bathroom is on the middle level, where there are no bedrooms. Overall it was a nice place to stay!

This cabin was the only thing good from our vacation! Thank god it was exactly what I expected! The host was very quick to return my messages, the cabin was absolutely gorgeous!! Would definitely recommend it!!

Highly recommend this cabin! Newly remodeled, beautiful kitchen, awesome bath, and comfortable beds in the loft / downstairs bedrooms. Everything you need to prepare meals, relax, and recharge in a beautiful Alaskan setting minutes away from the Talkeetna Airport. Seth was our host and checkin was a breeze with all questions quickly answered. We had a lovely stay and will definitely book again for our next visit.

Great house for my husband and I and our two boys for a quick stay. Great kitchen and all appliances new. Washer dryer especially helpful.

Cabin-style home a short walk to Main Street in Talkeetna. Enjoyed the walk back and forth for coffee in the morning, food/drinks in the evenings. Check in easy once you find the place. It’s not visible from the street suggested by its address (located behind another, larger cabin) but it didn’t take us too long to figure it out. Email from host (Trent) had code for door, so easy peasy. Fairly clean, but wife has a very critical eye for this kind of stuff and found a few things to criticize. Overall, I’d say it was acceptably clean though. Located close enough to train tracks that the whistles of the trains that blow through at night might be bothersome to some, but they weren’t a big problem for us. Be aware that the place does not have A/C. It was close to 80 degrees in the loft bedroom when we arrived in the afternoon, but just keeping the screened windows open was enough to mitigate that issue; by bedtime it was plenty cool and comfortable. Only other potential issue I can think of is that the only bathroom is not en-suite with a bedroom and is on the same floor as either bedroom. Not a real big issue for us, but could be inconvenient depending upon situation. The full kitchen was wonderful and we loved the appliances! Plenty of nice kitchenware to use, too. Overall, would certainly stay here again if back in the area. Hope y’all enjoy as much as we did!
