The house has a beautiful view and for a group whose husbands fish OBX often, the location was fantastic. If you have an ORV pass, you can drive on the beach right in front of the house once the ramp has been opened up to drive that far down. Although the hot tub was relaxing, it did have trouble maintaining its temperature but could have been the fact that it is colder out.

When we walked up to the main living area the first thing we noticed was how sticky the kitchen floor was. The counters had something on them but it was easily wiped off, no big deal. After we unpacked everything and settled in, I went to make a pot of coffee and the coffee pot was filthy. So I washed it. Then a while later I pulled out dishes and utensils that would be needed to fix dinner and they were dirty so I spent nearly 3 hours of my vacation washing the dishes I figured we'd be using. A lot of the dishes were just put away dirty. A glass bowl that looked like it had popcorn in it was just placed back in the cabinet, it appears no one even attempted to wash it (later on we found popcorn under the beds in the rooms with the bunk beds). The ceiling fan in the main living area looks like it has not been cleaned in a year, there was dust on quite a few surfaces throughout the house. The upper deck off the main living area is in desperate need of repair. I feel if our group of 10 all stood out there at once, parts of it may have broken, or someone could have fallen through the floor. There's rotten boards that won't take much to break. I did text the number that text me to find out how check in went and voiced my concerns. Someone from housekeeping called me the next afternoon and by then I had already cleaned the floors and done a majority of the dishes in the house. The day before we were to leave, we went to take out the trash and two of the three trash bins were completely full and the recycling bin was full. The one bin that wasn't full was already at the end of the driveway but was also half full. We graciously pulled all the bins including recycling to the end of the driveway before we left. Luckily it's fall and there aren't many bugs, we opened some windows only to realize there were no screens. The house has great potential if maintained properly and housekeeping actually did more than surface clean.
