The location, view, proximity and access to the ocean could not be beat. The unit was nice overall. The area was quiet, we did not use the pool but it was clean and seemed nice.

There is no elevator in this building- there is in the one next to it. There is an electronic suitcase lift that you can manually operate but it moved slowly and seemed really old so we tested it out with nothing in it and decided not use it. This would be very difficult for anyone with a handicap, difficulty walking, not in great shape or for anyone with young children that need to be carried because it is a lot of stairs. The chemicals that were used to clean before we got there were WAY to fragrant and it strongly lingered for the entire 3 days - I have asthma and allergies so I might be more sensitive to that- we opened all of the windows and doors as often as we could but it didn’t help. The couches in the unit were really dirty with visible liquid stains on the fronts, and cushions- it was itchy to sit on so we covered them with blankets when we used the couches.

The ocean front location was on a lovely stretch of the beach. Rodanthe is a great place if you want an low-key area that is close to great hiking and birding on Pea Island or Cape Hatteras. This unit is on the third floor and there is a outdoor luggage elevator to make moving in easier. The staff who helped with my check in issues were very friendly, professional and efficient.

The interior décor is a blend of standard tacky-beach shells and anchors with fluorescent 80s color paint. The kitchen and bathrooms were partially updated but the carpeting and screens need to be replaced. It was very clean when I moved it and the apartment is spacious so it wasn't a deal-breaker.
