I have never been more disappointed in a vacation rental. We come to the OBX every year for the last 5 years. We have never had a bad experience. This house was the most dirty unkept house we have ever rented. Nothing was cleaned. Hair everywhere. Dirty dishes pots and Pans whew discussing. The BBQ was so dirty we couldn’t even use it. I had to buy a charcoal grill. I had to clean and buy things to clean it was so bad. The oven was so gross it couldn’t be used. We took time out of our lives people took off of work without pay. One couple left. We called no one cared to even call us back. Had to buy too much cleaner so much stuff. I have never been this disappointed in a vacation ever.

...very shabby and run down, with far fewer accoutrements (no drying rack or ice cube trays in the kitchen, no soap in the bathrooms, etc.) than we're used to on beach trips. Many or the same old issues with OBR/Vacasa houses as well... the refrigerator smelled like fish, the ice maker didn't work, the front door wouldn't lock, busted out screens on the porch, a barely-working grill, that sort of thing. Oh well, at least the beach was close!

Location was good, short walk to beach & the view was fine. Disappointed in the house that it was not as pictured & not as clean in some areas. I am not sure whether it’s because it’s for sale but some things didn’t work, furniture was stained and no paperwork to explain how things worked. We rented based on description & pictures as we have previously but this time it was disappointing. Would not rent this place again.

I have in this house twice before. I love the house. Nice pool, very nice hot tub, and very accessable to the beach as well as just a great overall location. Now for the bad this time. I called Vacasa on Tuesday and the lady put a ticket in. All the outdoor chairs on the upper deck were cracked or broken. The rental office is right across the driveway. I went there the next day and explained the problem. We left this morning and the chairs still hadn't been replaced.

We had a great week in Make My Day. It is a great house and the location is perfect. Our dogs loved that they could come with us on vacation. Great location. The pool was great for the kids. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook meals. The house was spacious and comfortable for everyone. House layout is very well laid out for multiple people, and especially so for two families. we really liked having multiple living spaces and could see how it would work well for a couple families with children. The proximity to the beach was awesome - really liked the views (know beach front would be better but at a higher price - this was perfect) This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

This home was very nice and we would stay again! The rooms were all nice sized and had plenty of bathrooms. Short walk to the beach and is located in a very nice area. Loved the little living room on the second floor! The kids loved the pool and was Convenient on days the ocean was too rough or if we got back early from the beach! Special K`s was a beautiful property - very well maintained! The kitchen is well stocked, and all of the electronics were easy to work. We initially didn`t think we`d like the pool being situated further from the house than we`ve had in the past, but in the end, we all agree the pool area was the BEST of any house we`ve rented. The sun stayed on it until almost 6pm and the shaded area with the picnic table was great! There was plenty of room for our group to spread out, and we never felt cramped. We did find the A/C flow to the 1st level MBR to be less than desirable, but were able to work around it by positioning a box fan in the hallway and keeping the door open. Would have been nice if a recycling bin would have been provided. The home was extremely clean upon arrival. All in all, a very nice property, well kept with plenty of room for all! We love Durant and Outer Beaches! This is our home away from home! We thought we locked ourselves out and called, Jenny was so kind. Thankfully, we found our key so she didn`t have to make the drive from Avon. We can`t wait to see you next year! This is a nice and clean house. The backyard has trees and such along the property sides which gives a feeling of privacy which was fantastic! The private dock was great also. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

We like the location of the home...watching the birds in the marsh pond is a delight. It is convenient to all activities in the village, especially by bike. The ramp to the door is wonderful. No schlepping suitcases, groceries, etc up the stairs! The Bacon`s have taken time to make sure the home is comfortable and pleasing to renters.
