The place right on the ocean with an amazing view, the sunrise and the waves was just great. A very unique lodging. The only thing we were missing was a big table and chairs outside. The inside dining table and chairs were not very big and comfortable.

It was wonderful!!! The home was beautiful, well kept, and had all we needed and more to make our vacation fantastic! We loved being on the ocean and having the sun wake us in the mornings. We viewed whales in the blue ocean from the yard or when we were seated on the porch areas. Several turtles would show up every day along the ocean wall. The home is located in a quiet area not too far from Hilo. There was a book in the house that gave info on beaches, dining, etc. That was very helpful. Comfortable beds, beautiful kitchen with all the things needed for cooking, large laundry room, and very clean, comfortable home.

Private, unique, great location. Ocean views and sounds. Whales present in the winter. Interesting birds.

This is a great place to stay if you want peace and quiet with beautiful views! My only complaint is that it’s extremely dark at night! We arrived at night and it was difficult to open the gate, get inside, and find light switches. We discussed this ahead of time, and they said they would leave lights on for us, but that unfortunately didn’t happen.

This place is absolutely beautiful. The house is well maintained and has plenty of room for a large group. The outside view is one of the best on the island. Sunrise and sunsets at the house are very special. Hearing the rain, crash of the waves, and breeze from the ocean is so peaceful before going to sleep.

It was such a beautiful location and amazing beach house that I don't know where to start. From the majesty of the giant waves crashing against the lava rock cliffs, to the sound of the rainforest surrounding us with the songs of birds and frogs, it was truly the quintessential paradise that we hoped for. Loved every minute there!

This property provided a very special experience for us. The location is amazing, the listing/photos are accurate. The sunrise views from the bedrooms were magical. There is no AC, we were there the first week of Sept and it was 82 outside and around 87 inside the house. It was a little warm, but quickly cooled down in the evening. We would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay. The property was very unique, as depicted in the pictures. It was awesome being so close to the ocean. The kitchen met our needs, but we did not try to grill. It was amazing having laundry, especially since we spent a week on another island prior to coming here. Our favorite part about the property was sitting under the stars, hearing the ocean waves crash. The property is located about 30 minutes from major shopping areas (Safeway, Target, Walmart) and Hilo. We didn't mind the drive. The hosts left a binder with things to do, places to visit, including restaurants, and details about the property, which was helpful. The house is about a 40 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park, and about an hour and a half drive from Kona. Even though it was a challenging hike to get to (rocks, roots, and mud), we really enjoyed Shipman's Beach, which is located within the neighborhood. The one thing we did not like was that the upstairs (master) bedroom gets so hot that it made it difficult for my husband and me to get a good night's sleep. We understand it is the norm to not have air conditioning in Hawaii, but the room up there does not cool off very well, even with the windows open and the fans on. Our boys slept in the other 2 bedrooms and their rooms cooled down in the evening.

This property is very run down. Beware: the pictures look great, but unfortunately the actual house is very disappointing. Lots of rust and mold which we know can happen on the Hilo side of the island due to the moisture, but we stayed in another house in this exact neighborhood previously and it was much nicer and did not have any issues. The layout is very odd with no good space to gather to eat or hang out to socialize. There were 4 very old plastic outdoor chairs so sitting or eating outside was not possible. The Weber grill was totally rusted and did not work. The whole place smelled musty and there is no AC ( they say they have a portable floor unit but it was very old and sis not work). We had to call maintenance to have them put a screen on our door so that we could open it to get some air flow. The and the fixtures and amenities in the house are not high quality. There is a real hodge-lodge of kitchen items and they have far too many platters and cups but not enough plates or bath towels. Cleanliness was lacking. There was leftover food in the refrigerator and freezer from the last guests (not just the typical condiments that you sometimes find). They keys were very confusing and we ended up locked out. The maintenance person came but did not have back up keys so he had to crawl through an upstairs window to unlock the door. I hate to leave a bad review-but Hawaii is an expensive trip of a lifetime for many, so they need to know!

We enjoyed the house. Unfortunately, we both got sick two days after being there. We probably caught something on the airplane. The view was amazing! We did have some problems with the TVs working correctly. Also one room with the air conditioner and it was so musty that we could not use it. Being to women alone, we were a little concerned about people walking in front of the property after dark. We had no problems with anybody but after we got used to it, it didn’t bother us too much. We did have a few issues with some maintenance. The property manager very nice and came out to fix the issues. I would recommend this house to anybody else.

The place is really cool and different. I like the fun multiple cabin sections. I think the only challenge was that the upstairs bedroom get's incredibly hot during the day which makes it kind of uncomfortable to stay in bed for as long as one would like to, and the windows from up there with an ocean view have a lot of salty ocean water on them so the view feels a little muddled. But these are kind of understandable things given the location and the way the place is built.

This is, hands down, one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The setting is just gorgeous! The house is clean, check in and out was a breeze and communication was excellent. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

It takes a bit of time to get to all the things to do on this Island, but worth every minute of driving. We spent 17 nights here and loved every minute. We actually looked forward to returning every day from our adventures because it is so beautiful.The house was clean, but could use some deep cleaning in the "library" area. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. There is a neighbor right next door that does inhibit the privacy some. He was not intrusive, but VERY close. He has security cameras all over and lights that go on and off all hours of the night and a weird blinking light thing in front of his home that was kind of annoying. But that is our only complaint about the spot. We would love to know the history of this building. It is not set up like a typical rental with all the different "areas", but this is what gives it charm. Every room has a beautiful view and we enjoyed them all! The question of the day is where should we sit this time? We sat on the cliffs, on each lanai, the kitchen area. It was all great! We got up every morning to have coffee and watch the sunrise! Be careful with your keys. There are a lot of doors and some use different keys so stay aware of who has the keys to which area! I am an avid review reader for any place I stay so appreciated the reviews for Temple Tree. Be cautious of the small farmers market at the end of Paradise Dr.and off to the left a small distance. The one lady charged my husband $30 for a pineapple and 2 other small bunches of fruit. He must have had "tourist" written on his shirt! The market on Sundays on the way to Pahoa is a great place for produce and souvenirs. Shipman Beach is a very close drive, but a long hike once you park, but worth every step. We saw about a dozen sea turtles there and the beach is stunning. We almost missed this gem! Highly recommend!
