The room is very small even by big city standards. The outside garden was dirty and uninviting. We found only one additional towel, the coffee in the cups was hard and old, but did find some fresh coffee where you can access additional items for the room. The interior is painted a high gloss black, which I found rather dark. And weird. Saw two rats at the entrance of the building. The location was very nice and there was a beautiful park across the street.

Great location in Back Bay, one short block from Newbury Street. Has more of a local neighborhood feel. If you like old historic buildings, this is for you! (Bed and bathrooms are modern.) Close to shopping. Close to metro to downtown.

Location was amazing! Place was small but we knew that from the reviews. Would have been nice to have real glasses and some kitchenette amenities, like a cork screw in the room - coffee maker didn’t work properly and you ended up with coffee grinds in your coffee. With some small tweaking this place would be wonderful.

After I booked I checked reviews in Yelp and was a little worried as many reviews were not good at all. I worried about rough cheap bed linens, smell and lack of cleanliness - none of those things were an issue. I can only surmise that the reviewers have expectations out of line with Boston. These are old historic buildings in a place that gets damp - there will be some odors but none were offensive. The bathroom in this place was cleaner and newer than the bathroom we had at the much more expensive Eliot Hotel. The location is fantastic right off the heart of Newbury street. Very convenient for moving my daughter into BU. My daughters roommate came down with covid and to avoid contamination right before the start of classes we got her a second room for a couple of nights. The room was the best deal close to school - the second room is on the ground floor and right on a busy street so a bit noisier but still very nice. I was able to get late check-out and early check-in in order to make the transition easy. I would definitely stay again. People mentioned no amenities since this is a self check-in/out place. Honestly we did not get many services at our stays at the Hotel Commonwealth or The Eliot. I only wish you could store bags after your checkout - I had a 9:30 pm flight. You could but you would have to luck into someone coming out so you can slip in to get your bags - you lose access to the lobby after checkout. It worked out for me due to second reservation.

Nice room in nice building in nice neighborhood in Boston. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. 10 min walk to T green line stations. Right next to Newbury shopping street. All good…but very small room. It worked for one person. It would be cramped for two, especially if you have a lot of luggage.
