Wonderful Thanksgiving family stay. Gorgeous grounds, home, welcome from hosts, easy communication. Can’t wait to come back!

The home is beautifully situated in the hills just outside of Julian. The rooms were comfortable and there was plenty of bed and bath linens. The kitchen was stocked with all of the cooking items needed to prepare meals, but the organization of the drawers and cabinets made it difficult to find some things (I realize that this is most likely an ongoing problem with so many different people using the kitchen). There was absolutely no toilet paper in the entire house and inly a 1/4 box of kleenex. We had to go into town to purchase some. We also had a plumbing problem with the garbage disposal and it overflowed into the dishwasher which flowed onto the kitchen floor. We hadn't put anything down the disposal except two pieces of bread, so it had to be broken before we got there. The owner said he would come up to fix it on Saturday afternoon (after our stay was over). Fortunately there was a sink in the mudroom we could use, but it did make meal prep difficult. The home was very comfortable and if the sink and TP issues didn't happen, were would give it 5 stars

Everyone in our family loved this property (we had a 3 and 5 year old, 19 year old, my husband and my mom in our group). It is very secluded and beautiful, and the home is spacious, perfect for families. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi, and the king bed was comfortable. Those sunset views from the property are very special. I wish we can make this an annual family vacation, i would definitely stay here again.

Great location!! On top of hill with nice views all around. The property is large, there are multiple small sitting areas around the property, but they did not look used or inviting. The property itself could use some major love and maintenance. There is a jacuzzi which did not look clean and then there wer small frogs in the jacuzzi and then there wer dead frogs in there...and they got sucked into the filter and the spa smelled icky. THAT needs maintenance. The BBQ was great for large parties. The propane ran out midway through the meal. Called the owner and luckily there was a partial tank in the shed. There is a feral kitty who is really sweet, but won't come to you...hence...feral, but she was happy to be fed. The owners leave kitty kibble in the fridge for you do feed her! NICE!!! You bring your own food and drink, tho there are condiments. We found a LOT of them expired...waaaaay expired. The inside is one big great room with kitchen and dining attached. It was good, comfortable...lots of spiders in the wood cabinet which is the living room table...Master bed is comfortable and the view is amazing!! With some TLC the property has a ton of potential...plenty of parking and turn around space...loved the sound of the crickets...a TON, and owls. Saw turkeys and a deer on the way up the drive way...other than that...birds...we had a very relaxing quiet few days. Oh! ice maker and water sp out from the fridge did NOT work...

Nice place. Comfy beds. Peaceful surroundings and felt safe. Loved all the natural light in every room! My only suggestion would be the option of curtain/blinds in windows for places like the bathroom and bedroom so one can choose to close them for feeling of privacy especially at night. Other than that, the place was perfect and we’d love to come back. We may just have to have back up plan for covering at very least bathroom windows.

The home was very comfortable from the living area to the bedrooms. Large bathrooms with showers. The view from the Master Bedroom and patio was beautiful.

Came with the family to experience our new telescope. The house has a clear view of the sky. When we were here in December we knew we would be back. I need a king size bed so this was ideal. Nothing lacking. Enjoyed the sounds of doves, donkey, cows, rooster, owl, rustling leaves., etc. TV offerings were useful for streaming. ALL GOOD HERE.

My wife and I had a fabulous, although short 3 day stay, at this wonderful home. The location is a 5-minute drive to downtown Julian. The setting is very private, almost a quarter mile from the road, and behind a security gate. The home is very spacious, with an open space living room, kitchen and dining room. There is a large primary suite and two additional bedrooms, plus a sunroom with a murphy bed. Primary suite bed is very comfortable. The outside property is spacious, with plenty of seating areas throughout the yard and comfortable seating on both the front porch and back deck. We were able to use a walker throughout the house, in all rooms, however, the yard is a bit too uneven for wheeled mobility use. The primary bathroom has good grab bars, for stability. The property is very quiet and has tremendous views of the night sky. Being at altitude, if there are no clouds, it is a very beautiful sight. All-in-all, this is a great place to homebase for a visit to the mountain and desert area of San Diego County.

We (my husband, 2 siblings and my mother) were in Julien for a family wedding at a nearby venue. The house was very comfortable and the owners added grab bars in the master shower and water closet for my 90 year old mother which was very helpful. It was lovely setting and the house was very comfortable and homey.

The property was very clean and tidy. Views were great. Air conditioner was nice and cold. Overall it was as we expected and we had a great time

The house is in a great location, secluded, and quiet. It was very clean and close to Julian. The family had a wonderful time.

This is a difficult review to make. While the house itself was lovely and as advertised, there was a total lack of outside maintenance. A real mess on the deck outside the MB, broken pots and garden tools around on the ground, hot tub stairs in the middle of the gravel pad, weeds overgrown around the outside seating area with the view, stairs , railings and deck in need of repair and painting. I have pictures if anyone is interested.

Wonderful location, night sky is amazing, excellent local hikes, everything we needed was right there. Thank you for providing such a lovely setting for our weekend away!

We LOVED this place. Great everything, jacuzzi, beautiful kitchen. The only caveat is this-the master bedroom has wrap around windows and sky lights and by 6:00 a.m. it is BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT.!!!! I read the reviews and brought up an eye sleeping mask and it worked great. I also think the master would benefit if there was a T.V. In there. Otherwise-will stay again!!!! Outdoor jacuzzi was awesone!!!

It's difficult to summarize the beauty, comfort, and serene atmosphere this property provides. It has the perfect blend of modern conveniences with rustic charm. The property is extremely safe due to the extra precautions the owners and property provide. I've never slept better or experienced a better view. Wildlife, nature walks, proximity to Julian...the property has it all. The owners provided a hands-off experience but were always available for any needs. Definitely a one-of-a kind experience and HIGHLY recommended.

This is the second time we stay in this wonderful home. This place is awesome! It has it all! We stayed there last summer and right after going back home we decided to get this place again for winter. You will love this home. It’s totally equipped in a great Location minutes again from Julian and the house and the grounds are just beautiful. Also, Dave and Nancee are very gracious hosts.

Be sure to use lock box inside screen door, not the one outside on the house. Wood burning fireplace, king size beds, all kitchen appliances, stocked, TV usage easy. Close to town. Just a great stay.

We make our annual family trip to Julian to get away and celebrate our son who is no longer here on earth. This beautiful home was the perfect place. Up on a hill with beautiful views. We had everything we needed and explored the surrounding trails, Fort Cross and Main St. Loved the design of the home and enjoyed the fireplaces each night. One of our favorite spots over the past 9 years by far.

This house is comfortable from the moment you walk through the door. The large windows bring the outdoors in while keeping any drafts out.

This house and property are wonderful! Everything described in the property description was exactly as represented. The home is well appointed, has everything I think any guest would want or need. The skylights and the large windows (especially in the master suite) are just gorgeous! I would love to spend a week there - and hopefully can do so!

This buddies trip was one for the ages at this amazing mountain top secluded gem. Don’t hesitate to book this home for your next stay. Everyone in our group loved the place both inside and especially outside.

This cabin was an awesome place to stay for the entire family. It was clean, spacious and secluded, so there was ample opportunity for the kids to explore. The views were sensational and the large windows made it easy to enjoy from almost every place inside the cabin.

The location is absolutely amazing, views for miles in almost all directions and absolute silence except for some distant cows mooing. The house is great as well, lots of natural light and all the amenities you need for a break. We spent half our days working and the house is perfectly accommodating for both business and leisure. Only thing to be mindful of is that none of the bedrooms have window coverings. For light sleepers that means waking up at the crack of dawn and some challenges sleeping with full moon. Conversely it does make you feel more connected to nature and a completely new experience for us. The owners were very helpful and responsive when we had an electrical issue due to a rare thunderstorm storm. Would absolutely stay here again.

This beautiful little getaway is nestled in a San Diego forest near to great fishing and hiking spots, Lake Henshaw, Lake Cuyumaca, and William Heise County Park among others. Situated on three acres of gated property, the quarters appear to be a craft home in the style of a mini ranch house. Inside you will enjoy all the comforts of a cozy upgraded (or brand new?) country summer home. Everything just smacks of "welcome to your home away from home," but without the stress. You will run into friendly woodpeckers, bluejays, bluebirds, turkeys, and deer within the confines of your back yard. Across the meadow enjoy a view of mellow grazing cattle. At night you will be greeted by the milky way sandwiched between spectacular sunrises and sunsets. There is also the little town of Julian with its ice cream cones, world famous pies, gold mine, candy stores, restaurants and old west feel. About half hour away there is also another gold mining area preserved in a state park. The hosts were very responsive to any questions that I or my family members might have. You will find no better than this little gem either in Julian or Palomar for the simpler pleasures of life.

It was very pleasant, waking up with the sun, at very quiet place and lookin up through the window and seeing the trees, greens, sunlight, birds chips. I loved ! I truly recommend to others. All my friends felt like we were at home , very cozy . It was like we were at a family place. Thank you so much for letting us to stay at your place and feel like home . The pictures don't tell half of how beautiful this place is. Its super spacious, kitchen has every gadget you will need, two really big bathrooms, and really spacious and beautiful rooms. The house surroundings are super private and there is so much outdoor space to walk, to have family picnics and to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We've stayed at several houses in Julian and this is by far the best one we've stayed in. Also, Dave and Nancee are very gracious hosts and were very attentive throughout our stay. We will definitely return.
