Hotel zur Post is in an excellent location in Herrsching. Only a several-minute walk to the train station and lake waterfront. As the last stop on the S8 Bahn it's easy to get into Munich and the airport and a day pass will get you around at a reasonable price. The breakfast buffet is impressive. So much variety, excellent quality and a great setting. The room I had on the top floor was comfortable, very clean and quiet. It could have been quiet though as it wasn't too busy for the time of year I was there. There are a lot of hard surfaces which could make for a potentially loud atmosphere but those staying there and working there seemed very respectful of noise. Any visit to Herrshing wouldn't be complete if you don't do the walk to the Monastery and beer garden in Andechs. The main path is only a short walk away from the hotel.

Would be nice to have better coffee/tea facilities in the room. There's a kettle and cups but it wasn't stocked very well. The king-size bed was comfortable but the twin-size duvet was well undersized. I appreciate though that it's less water to clean a small duvet over a large one if only one person is sleeping in it.

Room fail short of expectations being in the roof reach by 50 steps with no lift. Room itself was fairly basic
