Great secluded Inn on the edge of Dartmoor with many walks starting from its doorstep. Good food, good beer and great service. Very friendly atmosphere and the dogs were made especially welcome. Room was dated but clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay again. Helios.

We loved the location and the beautiful view of Dartmoor from our room. The room was quite comfortable and accommodated our 2 teenagers. Lots of hot water to shower. Breakfast was fantastic as was the one evening meal we ate in.

We only discovered late in the day that the hotel would be closing early. Therefore no one to meet us when we arrived and no food available. We only picked up the message left for us by chance and were able to make alternative dining arrangements. Otherwise would have been a disaster. Breakfast was good though.

Rather a tired property.

Clean, spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Nice and quiet at night. Great location for walking on Dartmoor, and for visiting other nearby places.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay here and the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help - first class service. They made our dog feel very welcome too. We will definitely try and stay here again if we are ever planning a trip to the area. Thanks again!

A lovely old building with large rooms and high ceilings with bedrooms overlooking Dartmoor. A nice log burner in the bar gave a welcoming atmosphere and the building was full of character. Being an old building it did look a bit tired in places but that is to be expected in a building over 100 years old.

Your company at hotels.com had double booked the room the satay at the Fox-and Hounds desperately tried to find us alternative hotel no thanks to you lot as we were or the first couple booked in for the same room shame on you hotel.com

Nice location, on the edge of Dartmoor

The staff were extremely helpful & friendly - nothing was too much much effort for them

Wasn't as bad as other places I have been too but the welcome to the hotel was poor , got rushed around and the room wasn't ready , which we didn't mind waiting for but as we got to the room was too much of a strong smell of bleach and was damp on cellings. Could have been better a bit disappointed we paid £105 for the night. I wouldn't have paid that much for that , sorry.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The menu was good and the food well cooked with ample portions. The bedroom was fine but the on suite was very poor standard and the shower was useless.

Due to Covid there were the obvious restrictions in place however our stay was very pleasant. My grandson called it a little gem, the location was ideal for our visit to Dartmoor, the food was very good, staff friendly and the breakfast set us up for the day.

Cannot fault a thing ! Very good food and service! Highly recommend

Room was on the front overlooking road. Due to the excessive heat the windows needed to be open, the noise from the road was +++ until late at night and early in the morning made sleeping difficult. Other than that the hotel was ok for what we wanted.

A very warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff. Went out of their way to ensure I had a comfortable stay. The food in the bar/restaurant was reasonably priced and excellent quality.

Great welcome by friendly, helpful staff. Stayed in a family room, with a double and single bed. The single was a Queen size and the double was 2 Queen size, pushed together! Never had so much space in a family room. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, as we were at a wedding reception nearby, but the menu looked quite reasonable. Breakfast in the morning was definitely above average. It's so rare to find a hotel breakfast where the chef knows how to cook bacon properly 😁 We would definitely stay here again as the quality of service and comfort was exceptional value.

The facilities were of of high quality, comfortable ,clean and tidy and the staff were unfailingly welcoming and friendly and the food excellent. WE chose the Fox and Hounds for its ideal position for walking out onto the moors.We would l certainly recommend it to other walkers.

Nice clean room, comfy bed. Nice bathroom. Had a nice feel to the place, would certainly have no hesitation in staying again.

Surprisingly good for the price. The landlord was very friendly and helpful. The food in the evening was fantastic all fresh and tasty. The breakfast was also of good quality. I will not hesitate to stay there again.
