This is the spot for the Ocean Beach experience for sure. Oceanfront and in the middle of the action. Lots of colorful people. Steps away from the beach. Weird things happened in my room, bumped in the head while I was sleeping and found my bed was soaking wet for no apparent reasons. The night clerk was reluctant to help as he said the cleaning crew had already left and he didn’t have access to the linens. Somehow they were able to access bedding. Because I wasn’t about to sleep in a wet bed. He could’ve handled it much better.

This is the perfect hotel for a quick escape. No fancy bells or whistles, but a perfectly beautiful spot. I’ve stayed many times. Love the atmosphere of this whole area. Everything you need for a relaxing simple trip is in walking distance.

Property is nothing like the pictures, very noisy and dirty. Rooms are tiny and bathroom was gross.

The Hotel it self was nice, bathroom very small, staff was helpful and nice. The area, Park and beach had some very colorful people. Quite a few homeless and emotionally unstable. Wednesday nights personal expression gathering in the park was entertaining until the bongos went on till 11pm, don't get me wrong I did like them but 5 hours of the same beat almost made me emotionally unstable. This was such a happening location. The beautiful beach is just steps away. Restaurants and shops of all kinds surround the area. The hotel common deck areas offer safe and quiet spaces to spend time visiting, or just watching the water, the people, and best of all - the sunset. Housecleaning people are always working hard and very friendly. Lobby also welcoming and well stocked with food, drink, and souvenirs. The area is a little loud at night, but it is a fun atmosphere. There are quite a few homeless in the area, but there are also many Rangers present. I liked how the hotel required a key to access the property. I enjoyed the Wednesday night street fair, and the nearby bike rental location.

For the $500/night the hotel is too old, dirty walls with peeling paint, night stand lamp shades are cracked, unpleasant smell in the room. There was no surface to put toothbrush/creams etc in the bathroom Overall it was very unpleasant to be in the room. The location was ok, many homeless people on the beach. We wouldn’t stay there again.

This property is very conveniently located across the street from the beach and on the corner of the main street (shopping, dining), so you couldn't have a better location in this area. The neighbourhood is pet-friendly and has a relaxed vibe. There is a pet friendly beach within walking distance. The beach in this area is good for surfing but has lots of seaweed. The hotel has two decks were you can sit and look at the ocean/sunset and a charming courtyard. The rooms are not modern, but have everything you might need. Bring your own beach towels. Overall we loved our stay.

Overall, the location of the hotel made it ample for a quick vacation getaway. I booked room 320 - which is a King Ocean View with two patio doors that open to the street/beach side and is truly beautiful. The king bed in that room is definitely due to be renewed. It is very old and the hotel tried to lengthen its life by adding a topper to it. It’s very uncomfortable and sinks. As for the room, it would be nice if there was a proper armoire or a storage area, a suitcase holder so your suitcase isn’t open on the floor, and counter space. There is absolutely zero counter in the entire room. The bathroom is a pedestal sink, so good luck putting anything anywhere. The table and chairs is a nice addition, however the chairs sink tremendously and are due to be replaced. Go on management, please take a seat lol. And it would be very helpful to guests if there was a microwave. I did ask to use the employee one, and they were so kind to allow it, but is annoying when you want a snack. I did appreciate laundry machines on site for guest use, and the price is fair at $2.50 for wash and dry. Parking is tight, so come prepared to either squeeze in, or not get a spot originally on a weekend. But front desk was helpful with having guests move around to make space. All in all, I would stay again, but hope management truly takes these things into consideration.

The 24 hour lobby with snacks and clothes and gifts was so convenient. The AC worked amazing. The bed was incredibly comfy. The courtyard was a beautiful touch. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. The location alone was already worth it but it was somewhere I genuinely loved coming back to.

For us this was the perfect hotel for a weekend with our dogs. Just a short walk to dog beach, and the hotel offers dog-friendly rooms and property. Our room was right up front on the ground floor with ocean views from the patio, and the doors from the courtyard to the beach were right outside our room. The private patio was great for the dogs to lounge in the sun and for us to view the beach. The patio was a little dirty (bird poop) but I think that’s to be expected from a beachside inn to some extent. It was also right next door to OB Surf Lodge, which is a dog-friendly restaurant with a pup menu! On top of all the pup-friendliness and the prime location, the staff was so friendly and helpful in all of our interactions. We will definitely be back!

Loved the Ocean Beach Hotel location right across from the beach. It’s also a great location for all the restaurants/bars and free parking is perfect! Tbe pictures of the rooms, courtyard and sun deck are true to life…another bonus! The staff was very friendly too.
