My car was broke into when parked at valet. I understand these situations may occur, however the way management and valet handles things was very poorly. Don’t stay there if you expect exceptional service and a broken window for that matter.

Very nice and really enjoyed the authentic old style building. Wonderful use of an old office building. Historic architecture and building design is so fun especially next door to the Alamo

It is an older building and probably should have expected it to be a little musty. Windows are painted shut and ac was set to 72 degrees and seemed to be cooling ok, but the humidity/dampness was very high. At 3am we woke up to water dripping from the air return onto the hardwood floor. They moved us into a room down the hall which was even more humid which made the bedsheets feel cold and damp. Other than that, the breakfast was good and we could see the alamo out our window which was nice. Parking was $45 in the public lot next to the property. Front desk said if you left and came back to park you would get charged again...not sure if that was true because we only stayed 1 night and walked everywhere. They really tried to sell you on the valet which is also $45 per day, but I dont trust others with my vehicle so that was not an option for us. Just a reminder to think about parking costs before booking. Staff was nice and accomodating.

Gibbs hotel is really a great find. The value is exceptional. I never eat breakfast food in hotels, theirs was not that bad... I wish they had parking, as you have to spen another $45 on it, but other than that, I truly recommend Gibbs hotel for comfort, the surroundings, the friendly staff.
I will definitely come back.

Everything about the room was great. Even more amazing was that the mattress was new and I slept soundly. The reason for the poor review was the breakfast. First, it was late. Not all the breakfast items were out until 45 minutes after the time we were told at check-in. Next, I highly suspected that many of the food items were leftover from the day before, specifically the salsa options and pico-de-gallo. I suspected this because I was the first to make a breakfast taco after it was brought out, and there was already cheese in the salsa (they bring out the taco toppings (are they called toppings?) all in the same tray, the cheeses and salsas all together); this could only have happened if the salsa was reused from the day before. I lost my appetite and stopped eating.

It was awesome staying in a classic hotel. The decor was intriguing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely make it our go to stay in San Antonio.

The hotel was a good stay and comfortable. The breakfast was okay but they had only one employee working the area and couldn't keep with the demand for the amount of people that were there at the time. The hotel is close to everything and the Alamo was only a few steps away. I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay close to everything wanting to downtown

Such a pretty hotel, it’s a very old building but it definitely adds to the charm, especially being so close to the Alamo. The valet service was very convenient and everyone was very nice and accommodating. Once all the construction is over in Alamo Plaza, it will be an even greater place to stay. Also, we’re native San Antonians and were home for a family emergency, so the location and ease of travel to other areas of San Antonio (such as to the medical center area) was very convenient. We also loved the free breakfast, the carne guisada was amazing :) Thank you Hotel Gibbs!

I booked this hotel as 4 and 1/5 star hotel.
This property can be considered a 2 star hotel.
The staff is not trained to handle a better communication with a non-happy customer. In the booking discussion regarding to the wrong hotel star classification, a hungrier employee asked me that i can leave now if i am not happy. I decided to book another hotel at 11:45 pm. I will never book this hotel and i advise others to do so.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Gibbs! The central location was perfect for exploring the Riverwalk. Check-in was smooth and friendly, and the valet service was super convenient. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping our room spotless—such a treat after a day out! The breakfast tacos were delicious, and all the staff were helpful and polite. The AC worked wonderfully, and the hallways were always cool and quiet. Highly recommend!

The location is good close to everything and the historic side to this hotel is unique. Only issue is be prepared to hear noise outside of window. We were 7th floor but middle of night could hear cars racing up and down the streets. Air condition unit also loud when turns on.

All in all we enjoyed our stay. The office staff wasn’t the nicest, but did what they were paid for I guess. Just fyi - parking cost over $45 a day. Wish I had known that before, but I never saw anything about the cost of parking so I was surprised. Construction is happening all around the hotel so it was loud early in the morning.

Stay was very, very enjoyable. Every one of the staff we encountered was friendly, helpful and all smiles. Check-in was a dream, valet services were quick and on the ball and breakfast was really nice. Had variety of choices along with juices and fresh fruit. Had a couple of late nights on Riverwalk and felt completely safe walking in the area. Alamo is next door and even with all the construction going on it was clean and quiet in the evenings. Stay here and enjoy the Riverwalk area without having to drive… 👍👍👍

Overall experience was great, walkable to key attractions near dowbrown. The breakfast was excellent and would have loved if the parking was within the hotel. I had to use valet because I was tired after driving for 4 hours non-stop.

I liked the vintage hotel. It had been updated. The floors and ceiling were original and beautiful. The breakfast was good. There was a variety of food to choose. It is across the street from the Alamo. The negative about the hotel is they do not have parking. There is a pay to park lot next door and there is valet parking for 40 dollars at the hotel. It is all done by an app. I had trouble sing the app. I prefer being talking to a person.
