It wasn’t what I expected the staff was very nice and friendly the room was below average

This property is disgusting. I started to feel sick and didn’t know why until I was sick of the room. The windows were not shut completely, which led me to believe that someone was going to enter and try to take my stuff. Nothing happened. However, under the sink, there was so much mold and disgusting things, the air conditioner was not secured to the wall and there was mold around it as well on the furniture had mold behind it. The bed smelled horrible. I left and not fine the front desk of my findings. I don’t believe they will do anything about it.

I went inside the room and nothing looked like the picture the front desk didn’t even look me in the face when he was talking to me and my wife ... I’ve never experienced such a bad service and disappointed with a hotel in any other hotel... Staff , room wasn’t clean . Thanks to hotel.com they provided me with some assistance .

Overall, very cool staff, but the recepcionists didn't wear a mask most of the time behind de counter. Breakfest was great, a lot of options incluiding several types of bread, a lot of cheese and cold cuts, sweets, lots of fruits and drinks options. They left some of the food avaliable for guests to eat during the day, which I tought was super cool. Bed wasn't very confortable, but it was big and clean. Really close to a lot of touristic spots in the city center, walking distance to everything in Lapa. Really surprising for the price I paid. :)

It was my first time with the O.Y.O hotel and definitely I will repeat it again. Clean nice attend.

It was decent enough for the carnival ,good location but maybe a bit unsavoury if you don't know the area.

The hotelroom were dirty, with coachroaches in the room. We do not recommend this hotel for foreigners and tourists from other countries. The hotel is in centro, which is a "worn out neighbourhood" with shady people around. Be cautious of walking around in some parts of the area. Breakfast was boring and no options for vegetarians.

the problems started on chekin, since we don't recognize the buffer with the information that Expedia had canceled, crudely demanded daily payment for access to the hotel, even with evidence of recently, after long discussion and embarrassment have enabled the access to the hotel by copy of all our documents for confirmation by the expedia we were there, bad service, shower and air conditioner did not work. os problemas iniciaram no chekin, visto que não reconheciam a reserva com a informação que a Expedia havia cancelado, exigiam de forma grosseira pagamento da diária para acesso ao hotel, mesmo com comprovações de reserva em mãos, após longa discussão e constrangimento permitiram o acesso ao hotel mediante cópia de todos os nossos documentos para comprovação junto ao expedia que estivemos lá, atendimento péssimo, chuveiro e condicionador de ar não funcionavam.

A man who we assume was the manager was rude and aggressive & treated us differently from other guests. We think out of spite he stopped our room being cleaned one day. The hotel is in a very noisy area- late night clubs and bars. The rooms are uncomfortably hot. The other staff were helpful. Breakfasts were just acceptable. Rooms small. our first room had a hole in the wall. If you are not South American do not stay here.

The Villa Rica is not a luxurious hotel by any means, you get what you pay for. We found the location to be great as it was in a local area with very few tourists around. A couple of blocks away is the Lapa district where you can enjoy live music and a few drinks. The subway station is a 3 minute walk and will take you straight to the beach. The subway is safe and clean to use. Our room was never cleaned during our 3 day stay but that didn't bother us. The front desk did not speak much English but tried their best to meet our needs. Overall a great experience, I would recommend for those on a budget.

Great price for privatw room, even cheaper than a lot of hostels. Decent breakfast including scrambled eggs, fruit, etc..

Pleasant surprise. Nice little hotel at a very reasonable price. Good breakfast, excellent shower, refurbished rooms. Centrally located. Near shopping, transportation, major tourist sites, night life.

Family holiday in Rio. Area is clearly downtown Rio, with plenty of pubs inhabited by locals drinking beer, kids playing on the playground. Not a high-brow neighbourhood but felt perfectly safe enough. Short walk from Metro. Friendly staff (very cheerful night receptionist!), clean, cosy and functional rooms, fresh and plentiful breakfast. Highly recommended for the budget traveller.

Breakfast served "drink" and called it juice.....breakfast coffee machine made poor quality coffee..

Stayed the night, had no problems, and the staff were helpful.
