I have stayed at Marijke often and always liked it because of its location and acceptable level of services. This time, for the second time, there was a problem with the water heater in the hotel and so on the departure morning we had a choice of no shower or cold shower. The cleanliness was also not at the normal level as room service dishes were left to the hallways for too long times and the room cleaning was spotty. But as always, Bergen was lovely, and Alkmaar busy and entertaining.

I liked My stay at Fletcher's Hotel Marjike. The staff is friendly and supportive, the breakfast was good. Only the bed Needs to be renovated.

The hotel is described as 4 stars, however we felt like it represented at the most a 2,5 star hotel. The fittings of the room did not represent what the website showed. We were very disappointed with our room. It was not cleaned well, and basic equipments e.g. tissue paper in the dispenser were not refilled. Further, was our room card deactivated 1 hour before checkout which caused another disappointment. We do not feel like we received what we payed for. Price performance ratio was not good. However, the breakfast was good.

Kamer was bouwvallig, douchegordijn viel naar beneden. Service liet te wensen over. Bij vertrek informeerde niemand hoe het geweest was.

Room service changed towels and beds, but no clean drinking glasses in 3weeks . Maybe a European thing

Covenient for local bars/shops. Local area is pay for parking, even in hotel car park. Breakfast was very good but evening meals had a lack of choice

great location and staff was very good! No elevator so if you have a heavy bag it is difficult but there is someone there to help you on most cases

Really pleasant small hotel just outside the village centre. The hotel consists of a variety of buildings, with the main block supplemented by an annexe on the opposite side of the road which we were in. It is worth noting, that whilst the main block has a lift, the upper floor in the annexe can only be accessed by a steep staircase. Rooms are basic, so no facilities to make warm drinks. Breakfast was excellent, and we were lucky to be able to sit outside in the fine weather.

What we sampled from their dinner menu (home smoked salmon and very tender steak) was absolutely superb, so was their wine. The staff is very friendly and helpful.Ideal location. Walking distance (+/- 500 m) from the center of town - Bergen - with its restaurants, shopping area, church ruins, animal park, etc. Close enough to the sea and the dunes by car/bicycle and close to Alkmaar for its cheese market for example.In the section where our room was located, the wall-to-wall carpet needs replacing and a coffee/tea facility in the room would be a plus. Other than that, we intend to go back.

It was certainly not 4 star worthy. Shower too low in a very dated bathroom. Carpeted floors full of stains Next day another room, room is dated, also here is missing the feel of a luxury hotel. We no longer go to a fletcher hotel, 3rd hiccup!

Great stay very close to Alkmaar. We went to the Kaasmarkt in Alkmaar. The have that every Friday morning in the summer.

Hotel is ok. Its a good quality resturant with good service and in a lovely area. However, parking is €7.50 a day and the hotel is in need of some refurbishment, particularly inside the rooms. The walls are also very thin, so you can hear a lot of our guests. Several coaches of elderly guests were there when I was, and they were not very quiet.

My room was a bit dated and had no tea making facilities (although my bathroom was spotless which I think is important) but it didn't matter as I found the staff so wonderful and helpful I stayed another night. I had booked to stay at another hotel which was impossible to find so sat in tears at 9.30pm alone in my hirecar I phoned Hotels.com who cancelled that booking and moved it to the hotel Marijke. I arrived straight away, it had off-road parking (a major plus point!) and the staff on duty were so lovely. The next day I think she might have been the head receptionist (short, dark hair), but she made me feel completely at home and was helpful with instructions etc. So much so I decided to stay another night with them and explore the Bergen area. I without doubt would stay at this hotel again. There is a lot to be said for staff who greet you with a smile and conversation when you're travelling alone and it felt very personal:)

The entrance of the room had no lighting and we kept bumping into the chairs. The vieuw from the room was of a small parking lot. Parking was difficult tto small of a space. The beds were too soft and gave the elderly woman a backache. The bathtub had no antislip and had a very high step to get into. The restaurant was also very dark and food was fair. My wife Marijke and I have a combined age of 160 years but we still cycle tour The Netherlands every year. Arriving at your hotel with an online booking we were saddened by the delay in your confirmation of our reservation. Also disappointed by the lack of help in helping us to take luggage up to our room up a very steep staircase.
