management was rude and unprofessional.

If you must stay in the area, stay here! I am not stunned by many places I stay, but this one blew me away. Do not get scared off by the steep gravel driveway, even if you are on a motorcycle like I was. The inside is a beautiful looking Victorian style hotel that grabs you the second you walk in. Lobby and common areas are beautiful, furniture is comfortable, artwork is great and that’s to say nothing of the rooms! My room was immense, comfortable, beautiful furniture, very comfortable beds, walkout deck, bathrooms were large and spacious. I could go on and on. My only complaint was they did not offer breakfast on site. However the place they have partnered with for breakfast, is very good. I wish there was a place like this in every little town!

After days of traveling across the country, issues at our family home preventing us to stay there, we found this place at THE last hour in the day. when we arrived, the log cabin we reserved was not available, and they upgraded us for free to a cottage. what they didn't tell us was the cottage does not allow a dog, which we specifically requested in our original reservation… Was in plain sight with the dog walk the dog, and while we were disappointed not to have the log cabin, because the cottage had carpet which I was a little perplexed on why they would allow a dog and facility with carpet, I thought nothing of it. From the beginning, the general manager's attitude and his apparent dislike for his lot in life is apparent. While we enjoyed the property for the most part, to endure the general managers, petulant attitude, and then charging us extra after we already prepaid and checked out for having a dog in a "non-dog" area, toppled with passive aggressive texts to my personal phone was incredulous. He does NOT represent the true vision of the owners and is rifled with defensiveness, complemented with rudeness.

Beautiful riverfront property with gracious hosts

Although this property looks like an old hotel or house, it's a purpose built B&B. Except there is no breakfast. Instead you get a voucher for breakfast at the owner's restaurant in town. The first day we stayed, the restaurant was backed up for an hour on service so we opted to go to a different spot in spite of the free meal. It would have been much nicer to have the meal on-site since they have a full kitchen. My second gripe is that the pictures lead you to think the property is right on the Clearwater River. It is across the busy highway and there is no direct river access. You have to walk about 300 yards down and then use a 4' high drainage culvert under the rust to get to the river. Yeah it's not very nice especially if you think you're going to take much gear with you. My third gripe is that the grounds aren't really maintained so there are weeds in the gravel parking lot and in front of the river facing rooms. If they had cut down the brush you might have some river views. Next issue is the ice machine. It's out of commission so you have to rely on the manager to bring you a bucket of cubes. That would be fine if he did it with away but our request took well over an hour. Final gripes are check-in and info. The manager seems a bit like he'd rather be somewhere else. We waited 15 minutes for him to show up at the front desk after calling when we arrived. On the good side, the rooms are very nice and comfortable. So if that's your criteria, you're good.

Beautiful property and awesome staff, Rolf did an excellent job checking me in and telling some history of the property and showing me around the hotel and room. Definately a unique hotel and worth a stay. Room was if enough for 4 queen beds. Jetted bath tub that I can do laps in. Definately 5 stars. Also you get a coupon for breakfast at the bakery they own in town. Either pick from set menu or get a credit towards other items on full menu.

An unexpected, rare gem of a place in northern Idaho! Spacious, well-decorated, and exceedingly clean rooms in an elegant, antique-filled lodge. Amazing lobby area with cozy seating. Our room opened out to a view of the river. Outside seating abounds.

Wonderful owners with a fascinating life story. Unique furnishings and architecture. Loved the place!

The room was very nice. The bed was a bit uncomfortable. The driveway was hard to get up on a motorcycle, but the loaner vehicle to town was so nice.

Way beyond expectations! Beautiful location by the river, the owner goes out of his way to make our stay such an amazing experience. Beautiful rooms well maintained with extreme attention to details. We came in on motorcycles and the owner provided us with a car to drive ourselves for dinner in town. We were speechless. I highly recommend that hotel for anyone passing through this area.

Amazing property!

From the moment I got off of the highway and onto the property of this beautiful retreat, I felt relaxed and completely at ease. I was greeted by Rolf, who gave me a wonderful history of the owners and the property itself. He even helped me carry my luggage up to my suite. The view from the terrace was perfect! I could see the river as I listened to it race downstream while birds sang and crickets chirped. The property has hiking trails and I made sure to take a little nature walk and breathe in the aromatic mountain air. It was a short drive into town where I was able to get dinner, drinks, and meet a few of the locals. This has been an incredible experience. The one and only issue I had is that I couldn’t stay longer! If you’re looking for a serene getaway, Hearthstone Elegant Lodge is definitely the place! I will be back again and again for sure!

A very Unique lodge in a rural area! It is more of a villa. Beautiful and peaceful. The breakfasts were amazing! Will definitely stay again.

I loved the spaciousness of the room and the elegant interior of the room and lobby area. Rolf checked us in and shared with us some of the history of the inn. The whole experience was so much more than I expected!

The nearby town is unique. The locals are friendly. The lodge is beautiful! Rolf, at the front desk, was knowledgeable!

The steep gravel driveway threw me for a loop but I made it (motorcycle)! Breakfast is offsite but excellent. Very quiet. The man I spoke to on the phone was pleasant and very service oriented
