Close to transport and attractions. Walking distance to bear park and the old city. good sized room. Unfortunately no air conditioning or fan in room …. So uncomfortable sleeping during summer.

Great place and friendly staff. Breakfast was basic, delicious and you had endless access to coffee. Our room was small and perfectly situated. Great bathroom and small balcony. Loved it and will stay again for sure. Easy to get to anywhere in Bern by tram or bus! Great place!!!

I am typing this review at the property now since my train isn't for another few hours (super nice, stored my luggage for me and now they are letting me sit here, told me to help myself to water/coffee, etc.). I would say not to be afraid of the "shared bathroom," if that's what's holding you back. I had my own sink in the room, and there was a shower with a toilet plus another toilet on the floor, shared among probably 8 total rooms? I literally didn't see anyone else on my floor, although I am sure there were others on the floor. Anyway, room didn't have ac, but it wasn't too bad. Location is super convenient, close to 2 or 3 different lines, could be walked from the train station if you really want (and be treated to some breath-taking views), and I was even given a free public transport pass (I guess it's from the government to encourage tourism). It was a good experience at a very reasonable price.

The location is conveniently located near to public transport, and the staff are very welcoming. My room contained a sink, which was nice to have, and though it didn't have any air conditioning, I didn't find much need for it despite being there in summer on the top floor.

The room is comfortable, and the price is fair including the breakfast. The location is great with the bus nearby to Bern Banhof and the attractions such as Rosenegarten, Bear Pit and the old town .

Wonderful quiet hotel, with excellent breakfast buffet from 6-10am. Free hot drinks throughout the day including 3 different hot chocolates. The most comfortable pillow and bedding! Very clean shower room and toilet. I loved the fresh breeze through the large windows of room 404. Lovely staff. I highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay again!

Personal nature of a very 'homey' place to stay. Excellent staff. And close enough to walk to the central city. The price was more reasonable than central hotels.

A basic but comfortable hotel. We loved the balcony in our room looking over the courtyard. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The location is convenient, a 10-15 minute walk to old downtown and the Bahnhof. Excellent breakfast!

The property is near the city centre and they also provide you with a guest card for city public transport. You can use the coffee machine at all times for free for tea, coffee and hot chocolate and you can leave your luggage with them for the day. The room was small but comfortable and warm. The bed is very comfortable and you have a hand wash sink in the room while the toilet and shower is shared. Overall it's spotless clean and staff is very helpful. The price is a bit expensive but it's an average standard price for Switzerland.

I’ve been travelling around Switzerland and this by far the best place I’ve stayed! Clean, easy access, friendly staff, the washroom and shower were spectacular. I stayed in a private room with a nice view. Perfect!

We enjoyed our stay at Marthahaus very much (simple but comfy, very amiable atmosphere, very friendly staff). We'll come back!

Personnel Kindness

The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast was great with a good variety to select from. The location was close to the train station and with the provided free city card the frequent bus and tram stops were just a few minutes walk. The weather/temps were warm so the fan in the room made it tolerable at night for sleeping.

The bed could have been better, but as it is normal in Europe, good parking space,
